August 6, 2022, we had our daughter’s wedding at Deer Ridge. The ceremony was beautiful & everyone had a great time. Thank you to Allison, Jennifer, the bartenders & staff that wor...
ked at the wedding. The food was delicious! You all did an awesome job in helping to make it a perfect day for my daughter & her husband. You all deserve 5 stars! The reason I am not giving it 5-stars. When we arrived to the wedding, there was an event in the room where the groomsmen were to get ready. We were told that we did not reserve the back room. We specifically told them every time we met with them prior to the wedding that we wanted the back room & the loft for the bridal party. They had to get ready in the reception area. At the reception I realized it was very warm. The thermostat was set at 70 but it was 73! Allison said she would check on it, but there were issues with it the day before. By the time the bridal party arrived, it was 78 degrees. I asked if there were fans we could use. The groom felt sick & couldn’t even eat. We were given one fan. I had go up 2 flights of stairs to get another fan. We had guests leave because it was so hot. I asked again about the air & if there were more fans we could use, I was told in a very condescending way that the air is working as hard as it can but it is so hot & there are so many people. I explained that there was no air coming out of the vents. The thermostat showed that the air was on & set at 70. Therefore, the air WAS NOT WORKING. I called the event director, Renee, the following Monday. She said she would investigate my concerns & get back to me. She did not contact me so I texted her the next day. I was told that the air conditioning issue was out of their control & they were sorry we were disappointed. I said this was a one-time event. Not a product that could be returned & replaced. You would think she would have offered a free round of golf or dinner. She told me she would pass the information on to the owner who was out of town. Over two weeks later, the owner called. To say his customer service skills were lacking would be an understatement. He told me they had someone come out to check the air conditioner & there was nothing wrong with it. I must have been checking the return vent if I didn't feel any air. I know what a return vent was & no, we checked the correct vents. He proceeded to tell me that I could have cost them their liquor license because his security guards confiscated alcohol from members of the wedding party. I apologized because I had no idea that happened. He then accused me of lying. How could I NOT know the wedding party brought alcohol? It was MY wedding party. He pointed out things we weren’t charged for like the back room. I reiterated that we were unable to use the back room because they had two events already scheduled. He told me that was a lie because three people told him we were in the back room. He said I was being unreasonable, just wanted money & hung up on me. We spent over $11,000 at Deer Ridge for our daughter’s wedding. There needs to be a plan in place to deal with the air conditioner not working. One box fan & one oscillating fan is not a plan. During the entire year of planning, we never met the event director. Being accused of lying & just trying to get money is unacceptable. We understand that things happen & made the best of a bad situation, but I would not recommend Deer Ridge for any event. The owner only wants your money.
I love the scenery and the golf carts to get your wedding party to the best photo spots :o) The food was delicious and the staff is very friendly. The only thing that was weird was...
the mandatory security for alcohol services. I suppose that is for parties that get out of control but we aren't those people. Everything else was very reasonably priced and clear cut. The building is beautiful and they have places for us to get ready. Oh and there was staff that could help those with limited mobility get up the hill to our ceremony site. The view was spectacular.
