About this vendor
I approach photography and cinematography with the mindset that everything plays a role. From how you express your emotions in the most subtle of ways to the jaw-dropping scenery surrounding every moment — there is a narrative that must be encompassed. So, I consider the lighting, the details and the framing, but also tune into the moments and connections so the results are captivating, and the wedding itself flows effortlessly.

Pros: Super responsive and flexible before the wedding. More reasonably priced than other photographers in the area. Very enthusiastic to work with us and sent us a lovely little g...
ift box with little books for vows, his & hers wine glasses, and a corkscrew.
Cons: Everything after the wedding was a negative experience.
Photography - We did not see a single professionally taken image from our wedding for over 16 weeks! There was very little communication outside of when we reached out to check on the status. When we finally received our photos, there were less than 300 images from the day. It was apparent that the editing was rushed and lazy as the same blown out filter applied to most of the images without individual tweaking. After months of back and forth, we finally received all our raw images - and it included guests and great moments we knew were captured but were not initially provided to us and we may never have gotten had we not pusehd for them. We put a ton of DIY effort into the decor at our wedding and there were many details that we specifically requested and bare minimums that were missed entirely.
Videography - We never received our first look video seemingly because it was botched. Also, the videographer was scream singing and moving the camera so much that 1/2 of our dance video is unusable (would make people sick).
We truly wish we had paid more to find someone of better quality, so that we would have better lasting memories from the single biggest day of our lives. A lot of the picture we have did turn out well, but we were just missing so many others and the process of getting the ones we have was excruciating. We also paid for lawn games that were simply forgotten and never brought up until we pointed it out, which just points to the overall lack of attention to detail we felt throughout our entire experience.
We worked with Derek to capture our recent wedding and are so glad we went with him. He was thoughtful and responsive throughout the entire process leading up to our big day. Derek...
remembered special details we had shared that we would like captured in our wedding video all while making it fun! We are so glad we were able to work with Derek and cannot recommend him highly enough!
The memories from our wedding day are moments my husband and I talk about all the time— to reminisce about our favorite day! And something magical happened when we received our fi...
lm from Derek, all of those memories came to life. He perfectly captured the moments we talked about, and for that, we are so grateful. It was such a joy to have Derek film our wedding day, his artistry and genuineness made for such a comfortable & memorable experience. Not to mention, his professionalism and flexibility when we had to postpone our wedding to a later date. To anyone who is considering Derek Preciado Photography, book him already!! (and add on the LOVE sign option while you're at it... it's so cute and our guests loved it). Thank you, Derek! You are the best!
There are not enough words to describe how much we love Derek’s work! We hired him for wedding photography and videography, and rehearsal dinner photography. We are so happy with t...
hat decision. He was such a professional, and his skill for organizing large groups of people for photos is unmatched. How he got everyone to look good at the same time is pure magic.
All of our family and guests raved about him — he was everywhere, capturing everything we would want to remember. With his teammate Scott (the videographer), we had full coverage of our wedding day. They got there early for getting ready shots and created a quick bond with our wedding party.
I feel like he really captured us well as a couple.
He also did our engagement photos, which were amazing (of course!). We did two great locations with him and it was a great chance to get to know him before the big day.
As a side note: his wife Jade Preciado was our wedding planner for the day, and those two make an amazing pair. It made it even more of an easy decision to have him photograph our rehearsal dinner, and he felt like more than just our photographer because of their bond. If the two of them are both free on your wedding day, scoop them up!!
OMG if you are looking for a Wedding Videographer, look no further than DPfilms Productions out of Nipomo!!!!
I don't even where to start honestly. Derek was absolutely amazing. ...
We originally chose him for our wedding for the quality and proximity to our original venue, but he and his wife proved not only to be professional, but flexible and so caring and understanding! We went through literal hell in 2020. We had to change venues not once, not twice, but three times. Each time we moved further away from them, and each time, he assured me we would make it work!
In the middle of all of that, I lost my dad and grand-dad. I didn't know if I even wanted to hold the wedding after losing venue no. 2 and once again, Derek assured me they would be there - whatever we needed to do and was so
empathetic. I am so grateful to have been blessed by the universe by such an amazing team.
They are kind, professional, prompt, and INCREDIBLY talented! You wouldn't have even known they were at the wedding TBH, but the footage they captured is absolutely PHENOMENAL.
My favorite inclusions in the film:
My husband and I both ride motorcycles and Derek even drove an hour to include footage of us riding together and a separate interview portion to include in the main video. This was such a lovely touch and will serve to be such a wonderful memory.
They also made sure there was footage of my nephew carrying my father's urn down the aisle. As painful as this loss is, I'm so grateful we will at least have a memory of him being there even if it's just in spirit.
And don't even get me started on the footage of the kids dancing!!
We are seriously so insanely happy with everything. If we could afford to pay them 1 million dollars, we absolutely would. We missed so much during our wedding day and we are so happy we get to see everything we missed in this video!!
I'm sure you can find a videographer anywhere, but I honestly think you can't do better than Derek and his wife. They check all the boxes and more.
HIRE THEM ALREADY!!!! If you got this far in my review, it's not too late! You can still make the BEST decision of YOUR LIFE. My husband and I will cherish these memories for the rest of our lives. YOU WILL 100% NOT REGRET HIRING THEM.

me feel at ease the day of our wedding. She handled everything effortlessly. Our video we received from Derek’s awesome work was spectacular and brought me to tears and also my husband (*ahem even though he says he got something in his eye) I know he was feeling the same sentiment as I was. Thank you both Derek & Jade for the wonderful outcome.

red questions promptly and their pride in their product shows. We’re glad that we chose DP Filma to capture our wedding. They were flexible/affordable and our end result did not suffer because of it. Bottom line, I recommend DP to anyone that wants top notch people and results. I recommend that you opt for the package that includes the drone footage of your venue. Well worth the addition cost! We got lucky and so grateful that we booked Derek and Jade to do our wedding video! Originally, a videographer was not in our budget, but after some careful consideration we added ...
it in and it was well worth it. We are so thankful that Derek captured all of those little moments because it went by so fast. Every speech and part of the ceremony can now be remembered forever. I feel like Derek took our vision and gave us exactly what we wanted. It is truly something we will cherish and watch to relive the best day ever. Thanks DP Films Productions!
Dear Jade,
We knew from the moment we met you that we had made the right choice as our wedding coordinator. We could feel your positive energy. And we were right! From day one you ...
came as prepared as one can be, so meticulous, every detail mattered, and you were always one step ahead. We sincerely appreciate your constant communication, endless energy, your discipline, consistency, professionalism, and easy going attitude!
Carmen was so impressed by your intuition. She remembers the pair of sandals you gave her when you noticed she was becoming tired of dancing on those heels! What a simple gesture and what a big difference that made. You can't teach that kind of attentiveness and kindness, and that makes you great at what you do.
Thank You Jade for facilitating our wedding! You continued to impress throughout the night, you seemed to be in all places, and the flow of our wedding became a sweet memory for our family, our friends, and us.
With kind regards,
Mr. & Mrs. Mosqueda
Thank You Derek!
Our wedding video turned out amazing! From the moment we met you we knew we were dealing with an honest and nice person! We appreciated your easy going attitude...
and willingness to go out of your way to ensure we had one of the most memorable customer service experiences of our life!
The most memorable impression is that Derek took the time to drive my wife and I from one location to another in order to capture film we wanted in our wedding. We had been drinking during our reception and Derek was so nice to drive us around keeping us safe and ensuring we filmed exactly what we wanted to capture.
The day of our wedding was filmed just as we hoped and we must admit, it exceeded our expectations!. So many wonderful moments were captured at the right time, the right angles, and the drone footage was just amazing. Derek is definitely a professional and has a very high standard of customer service, as a customer I felt that he had our best interest in mind and he delivered as expected!
Thank you so much for ensuring one of the most important days of our life is forever captured allowing us to treasure and share those memories with our loved ones for years to come.
Best regards,
Mr. & Mrs. Mosqueda
We hired Derek Preciado to film my mother's funeral service. Even though he was hired at the last minute, Derik was so accommodating and able to help us out. He was able to captur...
e the beauty during my mom's Mass and turn a sad occasion into a beautiful masterpiece that will be treasured for generations to come. He has a great eye for cinematography. He went far above and beyond filming the entire family during the evening and captured the mass in a way that family who weren't able to attend felt as if they were there. Derek's drone footage, videography and photography skills were top notch. His added drone footage was icing on the cake! For the final product, we were given a beautiful DVD that even included a menu with scene selections and a custom photo of my mom and I on the disc. We would highly recommend his services for any occasion! Outstanding work, Derek Preciado! My entire family extends their gratitude for your hard work from beginning to end.
