WE LOVE THIS GUY. Derrick did the video for my niece's wedding in 2018 so when my daughter finally decided she wanted video, there was no question as to who we would hire. My girl decided at the last minute, about a week out, but because her wedding was on a Thursday, Derrick was available, himself. Derrick worked SO hard - he was there the entire day, running from room to room, climbing ladders, crawling on the floor, setting up scenes all while staying out of the wa! He appeared to have captured everything. We won't see the final for a few weeks but the experience was great. Derrick is a super cool guy, easy to work with, dependable, kind and fun. I highly recommend Derrick Matichak Videography!

One of the compliments that we heard the most about our wedding was about our videographer, Derrek! Everyone LOVED how enthusiastic he was when filming on the dance floor, and he made everyone feel so comfortable having fun in front of the camera. He was with us the entire day, from start to finish, so he was able to get all the best moments captured on film. He brings multiple cameras, gets great drone footage of the venues, and also brings an assistant in order to get all the best angles. We truly enjoyed watching back our day because of the amazing camera work and editing skills! On top of him doing a great job filming and editing, he is also very responsive via email and always made sure we were getting our questions answered. 10/10 recommend using Derrek as your videographer!

I met Derrek at the Jacob Henry Mansion Bridal Expo in February 2022! As soon as I met him, I knew we needed him for our wedding! I went home to my now-husband, and told him we just HAD to have a videographer... and not just any videographer - it had to be Derrek! From the initial conversation, he is incredibly responsive when it came to answering the many questions that I had! Derrek was a game-changer for our wedding day! He arrived to film the bridal party as our hair & makeup were being completed, while his assistant, Gabe, arrived with my husband & his groomsmen for some fun before the wedding began! From first thing in the morning until the last song of the night, they were there to capture ALL of our day! We are so excited to see the amazing footage they captured, and cannot thank them enough!

Derrek is the best videographer! He is incredibly responsive and professional and excellent at his craft! We get compliments from guests all the time about how wonderful and involved our Videographer was. He was very confident and reassuring. Long story short, Derrek saved the day with our wedding video and he was so kind and accommodating through the whole process! Overall great to work with. Derreck made this whole videography planning so detailed but with such ease. The amount of compliments we got from our friends and family saying how good Derreck and his team were was such a good feeling! May I add Derreck is AMAZING at multitasking! Derrek was recommended to us by our venue and a few other’s. He was awesome to work with, having a fun energy to keep our spirits up during the chaotic, special day. I have been dj -ing weddings for 20 years. Never have I had the pleasure of working with a more than beyond professional videographer in the amazing...Derrek Matichak! His great energy is what I noticed first..then I would see all these little nuances that he would perform to take the video to the next level. He DOES NOT MISS ANYTHING! Brides! 10/10 recommended Derrek! I needed a last minute videographer for my wedding and he answered in a good time and was so positive in all conversations we had! He was there the whole night and I got many comments on how awesome and fun he was. He would dance with us, but be serious during the ceremony, which is important! He talked to us all night and I didn’t have to tell him to do anything, he has a natural talent with videography. We loved him! The footage was amazing and beautiful. His edits of the video were awesome and I can’t wait to show everyone the video. After the wedding, he sent the highlight video and continued to be positive and kind! 10/10 recommend!!

Derrek was extremely punctual, easy to work with and a great communicator along the entire process. He was hardly noticed during the wedding while capturing all moments (start of the day to the last song) but also made getting ready fun with him there as well. The overall video was AMAZING. The quality, amount of content and personalization is unmatched to any other vendors I have seen or looked into. The cases on the videos are beautiful & covered with wedding photos. Also, his use of drones to get close and far views was a highlight by far. I HIGHLY recommend him. Vendors are stressful to pick but Derrek made everything easy. My husband even said too bad we only do this once cause I would hire him again! :)

Derrek was just THE absolute best! When you hire him, you don't only get a videographer, you also get a hype man as an added bonus! (He is that fun!). He was very accommodating from the beginning and has extraordinary customer service skills. The video was simply beautiful - Derrek and his assistant Gabe were able to capture our essence as a couple and helped us select the appropriate background music. During the dancing hour he showed off his dance moves while still recording (impressive). To this day our guests and we agree he was by far the most fun person at our wedding. Derrek, was simply amazing. He was very personable from the start, and we had a blast working with him. Additionally, you could just tell the passion he has for what he does. Lets just start by saying how easy and stress free Derek was to work with! He could not have made things easier for myself and the bride! From day one when we set up our first meeting, to making our first payment and all the way to the end where he gave us our film he made everything so simple for us! While planning a wedding you have a million things going on and going with Derek made it one less thing to worry about! While at the ceremony, Derek caught all the special moments including our first kiss & our vows loud and clear and was able to put that into our video! While at the reception the bride and myself got so many compliments about Derek and how great he was doing and how involved he was with the guests at our wedding. Multiple people told us how they enjoyed him so much that they even planned to have him at their wedding in the future! The drone work that Derek does is one of a kind and I would defiantly recommend having that as part of your package! You will not be disappointed with the work that Derek does!

This dude is worth every penny. Incredibly professional, reliable and respectful. He was very active and caught everything from the ceremony to the reception. Easily the most stress free part of the day for us. We hired his cousin Mike Relyea for the pictures and they worked together seamlessly. The prices are very reasonable, spend the money, it’s worth it.

Wow, is all I can say after receiving my video! Derrek was a joy to work with, and he captured so many amazing memories on our special day. His quality of production and attention to detail we unlike any other. My husband and I loved receiving the leather bound cases and our canvas prints as well. Derrek was a true lifesaver on our wedding day! My husband and I can not say enough AMAZING things about Derrek Matichak Videography. We were married on March 8th, 2019. We had initially booked another videography company for our big day. Two hours after the original videographer was supposed to be there, they cancelled! I was pretty upset at the idea of not having a videographer to record our ceremony. While all this was happening, our awesome DJ (JPW Productions) reached out to Derrek to see if he was free and could make it to our venue in Elgin for the ceremony. He made the drive and made it 15 MINUTES BEFORE IT STARTED. He managed to get everything all set up in time for the ceremony! After the ceremony was completed, we spoke to him for a few minutes to express our gratitude for coming. He was very professional, polite, and fun! As the night went on, our guests kept complimenting him and his fun personality. He was on the dance floor with our guests ALL reception! It was great. After the wedding was completed, we paid him for his services the next day. He was very prompt in responding to all questions. You can definitely see he is passionate about his work! We recently received our sneak peek video from Derrek. It was absolutely beautiful and we can’t wait to see the final product. I wish that we would have initially booked with him! I'm so glad that ended up being our videographer. HIRE DERREK AS YOUR VIDEOGRAPHER! You won’t regret it!

Great Experience! Derrek was great! Danced on the floor while videotaping which everyone loved. Was not shy to make sure he got every detail I wanted for our video. Definitely flexible, I would recommend!! Great with communication and everyone loved his passion he had!

When we met with Derrek for the first time, we noticed he was very passionate about what he does. We loved that about him from the start. He was excited to work with us and use his drone for aerial shots of our venue. Our guests enjoyed his videography skills while on the dance floor dancing with all of us. I'm not sure I can technically write a review because Derrek never ended up filming my wedding because he breached our contract two weeks before our day. We booked him in February for a November wedding, paid in full, and was told two weeks before our wedding that he was approached by another couple willing to pay more so he was going to film them instead. I had to interview other videographers in those two weeks before my day which I hardly had time to do. Derrek had done a lot of my family member's weddings and he does great work, but if you book with him maybe have another one interviewed and ready to book in case the same thing happens to you.

Derrek did a great job on our big day!! He was involved with the crowd and everyone enjoyed his energy! We absolutely love our highlight film, and we recommend him and would hire him again!

Derrek was extremely accommodating and excited to work with us from the start. He had never been to our venue prior (The Herrington in Geneva), but he was more than willing to make the trip for our big day. Derrek made sure to get as much footage as possible, from using his drone for aerial shots of our outdoor ceremony and photo session, to busting a move out on the dance floor for almost the entire night with the rest of our guests. His enthusiasm about his work and being able to contribute to our special day made it a pleasure to work with Derrek throughout the entire wedding process. His pricing was very fair as well. Highly recommend!

If I could rate Derrek more than 5 stars, hands down I would. I don’t even know where to begin but Derrek made my wedding video AMAZING! He went above and beyond my expectations. From the drone, to the wedding shots, to the actual video, I can’t thank him enough for his expertise. He was SUPER easy to talk to, super easy to get ahold of and did everything and I asked for and some. If I had any questions he was always there. I searched for videographers for weeks but nothing really stood out to me. My fiancé (at the time) and I found Derrek after multiple searches and booked him the same day. His presentation, his work, and most of all his personality was outstanding. We cannot thank Derrek enough for making our special day perfect!!

Derrek simply was awesome. We had him video our day with one of his colleagues from start to finish and was impressed with how much effort he put in throughout the day. First i would like to point out how pashionate he is about this. He gave us a quick history when we met him to initially discuss the work and he sold us from the start. He showed us other projects he had done and we were thoroughly impressed. I can’t be anymore please than we were with Derrek. We had little caveats and special things we wanted included and he hit them spot on. He made it truly special and listened to what we wanted. Furthermore, the drone footage was incredible. He was very good and it truly blew our minds away. This is definitely worth the upgrade to get from him. You won’t be upset with the purchase. I highly recommend it if you are getting pictures at a beautiful outdoor venue. We did ours at Lake Catherine and it was awesome. It should also be noted he was very easy to work with. He listened to what we wanted and was never pushy. He also never tried to push things or upsell. It also is noteworthy to point out he worked well with a totally unrelated camera crew. I felt they gelled well and never had worked together before. I was thoroughly impressed with him and the photographers for this teamwork. He literally was running places and getting the best shots of people on the dance floor. He is reasonably priced and truly a class act. I will be recommending him to any and all friends.

Derrek was awesome! He was so friendly and helpful through the whole process! He made sure our day was captured beautifully. We love our video/movie and watch it all the time. He was able to capture all the moments we didn't even know were going on throughout the night! We love being able to watch our day back whenever we want. If you are looking for a videographer Derrek is great and really is so fun on the day and is a part of the party!

With all the time and effort, he put into our video, I feel he was cheated, and he deserves a lot more money. No doubt, Derrek Matichak Videography is a necessity on your wedding day. And we are forever grateful for Derrek and how much he treasured our day!

Derrek did amazing work at our wedding. He was there for the entire day and no extra charge. I felt so comfortable with him like he was family. I thought for sure I would be nervous wth the video, but he made me laugh and engaged with all the guests and bridesmaids. We laughed a lot! From the get go Derrek made us feel comfortable. We were not sure if we even wanted a video but after seeing his work we were hooked! We were recommended Derrek through our venue and I could not be more impressed with our final product! Derrek would answer my emails always within hours and was always so excited to work with us and to answer all of my crazy questions. His work ethic is out of this world and he wants you to have the best product possible. The best part was his prices were so reasonable that I got 2 videographers instead of 1! Our guests commented a lot on how every time they turned around there was a camera in their face which is awesome to hear because that means he got lots of footage. If you’re not certain about a video, it’s the best decision that we made! We got a sneak peak that was 6 minutes long and many of our family thought that was the whole video because it was that good! Our video is amazing with 4 hours of footage and then some. The quality is amazing and I would 100% recommend his services!

Derrek was an amazing videographer and vendor to work with! He came highly recommended from two of my cousins, and he did not disappoint! On the day of our wedding, Derrek started his day at the hair salon with the ladies at 10am, and continued to work until 2am! He was very patient with our large bridal party and was able to capture every little detail throughout the rainy April day. Following our wedding, my mother passed away suddenly. I reached out to Derrek, and he was able to create a memorial video clip on behalf of my mother, the day before her wake. We truly appreciate everything he has done for us, and we have well over 6 hours of wedding coverage! Brides to be--- you will not be disappointed!

Derrek was recommended to me by friends and has filmed other weddings that I've been in. He is a very energetic and personable man and is truly passionate about his work (It shows through his dance moves at the reception while holding the camera!). Derrek showed up early and was there all day to capture every little detail of our venue and the getting ready process. We went with the platinum package which includes 2 cameras which means that while one was with the girls, the other was filming the men get ready. He is absolutely great to work with and his prices make him a dream! We loved working with Derrek. His thoroughness, attention to detail, and passion for his work are what makes him so great at what he does.

Derrek is awesome! A week after our wedding he shared just a glimpse of what he captured on our wedding day and all I can think of when I saw the video was WOW!!! We did not anticipate the overwhelming emotional joy we experienced watching this production (not enough tissue). I was excited to share it with my friends and family and everyone, and I mean everyone that called me had the same reaction (they could not believe they were crying watching a wedding video). Derrek didn't just capture images he captured emotions from start to finish. Working with Derrek was such a pleasure. He was so kind and professional in every way. Derrek was great! We just got our video and love it! His video packages are a pretty good value and we loved that he stayed the whole night, till the very end and was able to capture everything. And on top of that there were multiple videographers so we got great footage! Would definitely recommend him!

We found Derrek through a family friend and we could not be happier with the results!! He not only fit into our budget but delivered a product that was well over our budget which was a huge bonus for us! When we watched our video together it was like we were reliving our special day! All the laughter, tears and excitement showed throughout the entire film!! I believe we met with a couple of other options too (make sure you give yourself options, you have to make the right choice for yourself) and we knew through Derrek's energy, kindness and knowledge that he knew what he was doing and that we would have nothing to worry about with him! Originally we considered not taking a videographer, and someone recommended Derrek last minute. Super grateful he accommodated us with late notice, because the video was great, and once seeing it we realized that we would regret not doing it! Mike his cousin which is his assistant was also great! Got along very well with the wedding party. Derrek is incredible! He recently worked my wedding and we just received a "trailer" of our day. It's stunning and left everyone that watches it with tears in their eyes. Derrek is easy to communicate with and professional. We have already given his name to a few of our friends that are newly engaged. Derrek was super nice and the video turned out great! The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5 is due to the time it took to get the video (something happened with the computer and I believe this was probably unusual) and I was hoping when we were told we were going to get cameos that it would have come from our guests and not just our wedding party. Overall, I would recommend Derrek! =) The blu-Ray Discs turned out fantastic!
