Janet Black of “Designs” supervised two weddings for our family and we were very pleased with all aspects of those events. Planning, bold and creative floral design, attention to detail, positive outlook, budgetary awareness, knowledge of local vendors and the highest of standards of integrity define Janet Black’s approach to her work. Both of our events were planned months ahead of time in well organized meetings with no last minute hand wringing. We were free to enjoy every moment of our events without any surprises or turmoil. The entire “Designs” team was professional in every way. We cannot imagine having such memorable weddings without Janet Black’s knowledgeable expertise and honest feedback in the planning stages. She was a driving force behind the success of both of our weddings.

Janet was a pleasure to work with and designed the most beautiful arrangements and bouquets we could have ever imagined. She is truly the reason our ceremony and reception were so breathtakingly beautiful. We began the process without a clear vision of exactly what we wanted, and were hoping our florist could help shape that vision. Janet did exactly that - with patience and excitement. She helped guide us through the process and the types of choices we'd have, maintaining ongoing communication and providing us with ample pictures and recommendations when asked. She was so flexible about adjusting small details and flower types to meet our budget, assuring us that even with some cost cutting measures, the final outcome would be just as beautiful. She is a true expert at her craft and a delight to work with. We could tell that she cares deeply about each couple and is genuinely excited to be part of their special day. The best in the Bethel area!! My Husband and I decided on a whim to elope in the Bethel area. I called Janet on a Tuesday to see if it would be possible to have a flower crown made for our nuptials on Friday. Janet was able to make me a beautiful crown even with such short notice and even though she was working on arrangements for 3 other weddings that weekend. My crown was absolutely gorgeous and she also made me a little bouquet to have for our ceremony which really touched my heart. I’m so thankful for Janet. It’s clear she goes above and beyond always.

Janet did such a wonderful job with all of our flowers and with being our day of coordinator. We were shooting for a small low key backyard wedding and before we knew it things just kept getting fancier. Janet was there to organize it all and make sure our day went smooth. Her prices were extremely reasonable too. Everyone loved her and worked extremely well with all of our vendors. Our day would of been a whirlwind without her! My husband and I highly recommend her.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the florals at our daughter's wedding on October 13, 2018 at Sunday River, Maine! Janet met with us personally several months prior to the wedding to ask for our thoughts about color, design, preferred style and favorite flowers we might wish to have included. When we discussed table centerpieces, we thought they would be arranged in glass bowls, but Janet offered to have beautiful silver-gray wooden boxes made with the couple's names and wedding date displayed on each one. They were stunning and so perfect for a "mountain chic" wedding!! Whenever we had questions of Janet, she was immediately responsive and receptive. We also appreciated that she was very conscious of our stated budget and was more than willing to work within it, all the while creating the most stunning florals everywhere on the property! Janet is a true artist and a pleasure to work with. She will create the perfect backdrop for your wedding day and we highly recommend her!

We hired Janet to help us with our wedding flowers. She totally has an eye for design. She was extremely helpful on putting everything in order and matching since I had no idea. Also she was so kind to work with me and figuring out what we really wanted and that wasn't going to hurt our budget. When we saw our flowers on the day of our wedding we couldn't believe it. The arrangements looked like they came out of the bridal magazine. You won't go wrong with hiring Janet for your flower arrangements.

Janet is an amazing florist! She is helpful and informative, and has a keen eye for beautiful, unique designs. When I asked her to incorporate shiitake mushrooms from my family's farm in the wedding bouquet, she was more than up for the challenge and ended up making me the most breathtaking bouquet ever! Her boutonnieres and for the groomsmen were also exactly what I wanted. I cannot recommend her enough.

Janet was absolutely phenomenal to work with! My bouquet came out beautifully and lasted about 1-2 weeks after our wedding so I had a beautiful centerpiece to take home. If you are looking for a local florist in the Bethel/Newry, ME location Janet is definitely the best!

Janet was fantastic! Very thorough and thoughtful! We were in a different city and didn't meet until the day before the wedding but she nailed all my ideas and my wedding guests and photographers wouldn't stop talking about how perfect my flowers looked and matched my color scheme! We hired Janet as our florist for our mountaintop wedding this past weekend and she exceeded my expectations. She was so patient with me leading up to the day as I kept making changes up until a week before. When the day came she was so helpful and worked around my schedule. We had asked for wildflower bouquets and themed flowers and what she put together was so much more beautiful than anything I had imagined or showed her in my inspiration pictures She is incredibly creative and made the space feel warm and full. In addition she is also very sweet and went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed. I very highly recommend hiring Janet.

Janet was wonderful to work with for my son's recent wedding. My daughter-in-law gave me the honor of assisting with her decorations..which allowed me several interactions with Janet. She is easily accessible by phone and email and always listenened carefully....and interpreted beautifully our visions. Most of all she showed a sincere interest In making the day special. She is extremely talented and truly appears to love her art.

Janet was the best find! She truly took my vision for wedding flowers and made it come real. She was extremely responsive (I sent many many emails of Pinterest ideas) and I was amazed by her pure enthusiasm for what she does- which is an art! She made the most beautiful center pieces and decorated our Ceremony arch perfectly with a stunning arrangement of airy flowers. My bridal bouquet was also gorgeous and will be a memory I will cherish. Janet was amazing to work with! She took care of all the decorating and flowers for my wedding and it came out absolutely beautiful especially for a Maine (ski themed) wedding. I started off the wedding planning process overwhelmed with ideas from Pinterest. I had so many differing ideas, images and themes, I started stressing myself out with all of the beautiful, yet wildly different, ideas. After having our first conversation, I changed my mind about three or four times, but each with conversation and inspiration photo, I felt extremely confident in Janet's ability to create the look and creativity to make it mine. The bouquets, arbor decor, and centerpieces were breathtaking. I chose my venue (Mountain House on Sunday River) because of how beautiful the location is; Janet perfectly transformed an already gorgeous venue into a soft, romantic, natural, and intimate space.I received so many compliments about the floral arrangements! Janet was also our day of wedding coordinator. I have worked many functions, including weddings, as a server and function coordinator. I know how difficult it is to stay on a timeline with so many moving parts. I haven't seen a wedding, yet, that didn't have a few "uh-oh" moments, but it's all about how the coordinator handles them. I didn't even hear about them until after the wedding. The reason I hired Janet was so I wouldn't feel any stress the day of the wedding. Not only did I not feel any stress and was able to thoroughly enjoy my wedding, but Janet aided in the planning process, the timeline, and also helped during the rehearsal! My daughter was married at Sunday River on October 3rd. They provided a list of local vendors for services we might need. We picked Janet Black AIFD to supply all the flowers for the wedding. She was extremely helpful and offered valued insight and some wonderful suggestions. The flowers were delivered in excellent condition and in time for the pictures. She not only made the bouquets but decorated the covered bridge and the chairs at the reception. Very reasonable cost. Very responsive to questions. We live more than an hour from the wedding venue so all correspondence was done by e-mail so responsive to questions and e-mails was important to us. Would use her services again in the future.

Janet was such an amazing florist and wedding coordinator for our wedding. The day would not have been so beautiful or run so smoothly without her help and planning. From our first contact, Janet was upbeat and excited about helping us with our flowers. Once we met her and heard about her ideas and planning experience we immediately knew that we also wanted her to help us plan and run things the day of the wedding. She was in constant contact with us regarding the flowers, design choices, schedule and contacts for the day of the wedding. She had great suggestions and ideas when we weren't sure about a decision and was happy to help execute the things that we already had in mind. She was upfront regarding her pricing and as we made decisions she always sent us an updated quote so that we knew what our total cost was. I must say that for the service and flowers she provided, she is extremely affordable. For the wedding services alone, I spoke with multiple day of planners that cost 3x what she charged and didn't even offer the same amount of continued support leading up to the wedding. Janet was the only reason that I kept my sanity as the big day approached. We knew that we could trust her to handle anything that popped up. She was present at the rehearsal to ensure that she kept everyone moving at the right times during the ceremony which went off without a hitch. The day of the wedding she was busy setting up the arch and all of the various flowers that she had crafted for us and everything was more beautiful than I imagined. She worked with all of the vendors to make sure the reception was moving along and on a couple instances when I asked her to take care of a couple things, she was all over it. We really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed working with Janet and how much she contributed to making our day so perfect. I would recommend Janet to anyone, her services were over the top!

Janet was fantastic to work with from day 1. She communicated well with us and helped with more than just the flowers. Her arrangements were beautiful, the birch arbor was perfect, the details added to our cake and the help with small detail was perfect. Highly recommended!

Janet Black provided the most beautiful floral display for my new husband and I's brunch the day after the wedding. As soon as I walked into the Phoenix at Sunday River I was in awe with how gorgeous every table and display was presented. No detail was left untouched by Janet and I could tell how much time and thought she put into the overall design. She even had the best party favor, golf tees with our names on them :) Perfect for my little golf pro hubby. As much as I wanted to spend time talking, mingling, and saying goodbye to our guests- I kept finding myself staring off at all the beautiful flowers. The flowers at our wedding were amazing. Beyond just arrangements, Janet's personal touch added an unexpected level creativity. My wife was very pleased. But this is not the end of the story. For our 1st anniversary we returned to the Bethel Inn due to how they served us with planning and hosting the wedding. I order flowers for our room to remind of us of the event. Janet and I worked out a reasonable price for the occasion. She remembered my wife's preferences very well. BUT WHAT SHE PROVIDED was over the top. It brought tears to my wife's eyes when she saw the beauty. I was stunned. The arrangement blew me away and was way more than expected or remembered from our wedding. Janet is not a florist but an artist and designer of gorgeous floral arrangements. Thank you Janet! I will always remember and be thankful for what you have done. What you provided reminded us of our wedding and set the mood for the weekend. Our relationship is richer because of your floral designs. Janet was amazing, she brought my vision to life and I barely had to say anything. She is extremely talented and so kind, she even made a beautiful floral collar for my bulldog free of charge!! The roses she put together for our centerpieces, ceremony and bouquets were so gorgeous, every single guest commented on how elegant and stunning they were. In the chaos of planning a wedding, Janet took all the worry of the flowers off my shoulders. We cannot recommend Janet enough! She was utterly amazing! We wanted a specific color scheme of blues & greens - mostly wildflowers with very few traditional aspects like roses. Janet was frequently in contact with us before/after our in-person meeting. She and her assistant got every detail exactly perfect and helped move the arrangements from the ceremony to the reception. Our guests raved about how unique Janet's flowers were. Janet is the best of the best!
