Desserts By Dana

We chose Desserts by Dana for our wedding cake because they were part of our venue’s all inclusive package. We also had cake tastings at two other bakeries but Desserts by Dana’s cake options were moist and not too sweet like the others. We chose Mexican Chocolate with White Chocolate Mousse for 3 of our layers, with the last layer being vanilla cake & Bavarian cream with strawberries. They were both delicious on our wedding day! We would say that communication could have been better, as we discussed the design of the cake via email but it was hard to get a sense of what was doable with buttercream without paying additional costs. We also gave instructions for placement of a cat cake topper but when we came in store to hand over the cake topper, it almost seemed like the staff had no idea what we were talking about. On the wedding, the placement was correct though and they even made it seem like our cat was taking a bite out of the cake - very cute!

Desserts by Dana was wonderful to work with! The cake was so beautiful and delicious. We had several guests tell us it was the best cake they had ever tasted and tend to agree! The process was simple and really considered what we were looking for. The flavor options was also another big plus! We plan to use Desserts by Dana for other life celebrations in the future.

We had our wedding at the University and Whist Club, and they partnered with a few bakeries. We chose Desserts by Dana because they really understood our vision, their flavors were delicious and unique, and they were easy to work with. We chose cookies and cream cake with chocolate Chambord buttercream. We got so many compliments on the cake, and a lot of people said that it was the best wedding cake they’ve ever eaten. Dana was very professional and really understood our vision, and was easy to work with.

This is the best cake I've ever had! My husband and I picked Desserts by Dana off of a preferred vendor list from our wedding venue and they did not disappoint. For our cake tasting we went to the bakery in Newark, DE and tried 4 different cakes and fillings. Each one was so delicious, we had to stop ourselves from eating every last bite of it. Picking our favorite cake and filling combo was tough but luckily we were still able to have more of the cake flavors we liked at our wedding because we had a single tier cake for us and cupcakes for our guests. The presentation of the cake at the reception was beautiful! We chose to have white frosting that had a swirly lace pattern that matched my wedding dress. The cupcakes stood on a tiered stand underneath of our cake which did give it the illusion of being bigger than it really was. It was very easy to coordinate having fresh cut flowers sent to the bakery the day prior to the wedding to be part of the final display. After the wedding was over we still managed to go home with about 3 dozen cupcakes and we couldn't be happier!

After the recommendation from our wedding planner to reach out to Desserts by Dana for our wedding in October, we set up a tasting to get everything started. It was a shock from the beginning to meet directly with Dana himself. We told Dana early on that we didn’t want a huge cake for our wedding. We wanted a variety of different flavor cupcakes and cookies for our guests to enjoy with a small cake for us to cut. He customized everything around our wishes and gave great advice. He was easy to communicate with throughout the process and the cupcakes… they are a slice from heaven. The variety of flavors he offered was phenomenal. We highly recommend using Desserts by Dana!!

Dana was the absolute best for our wedding cake needs. He is so funny, friendly, and professional. Dana offered unique flavors that really impressed us and stood out from typical “ wedding cake.” The design was beautiful and made a presence. We would highly recommend Desserts by Dana and the lemon wedding cake!

Our wedding cake was so incredibly beautiful!! It was perfect, exactly what we wanted, and tasted sooo good! Absolutely one of the most beautiful and unique cakes I've seen!

Dana is amazing!!! He was so fun to get to know as we did our cake tasting, and all of the flavors were so delicious that we had trouble deciding. He absolutely nailed the design of the cake even though it had been over a year since we had discussed it. So so happy with how it looked and more importantly how great it tasted!!

Dana made our dream come true!!! He made us a Stanley cup cake for our wedding and it was everything we could of ever dreamed of. He was so easy to work with and the cake tasted INCREDIBLE too!! Thank you Dana for making a memorable and delicious cake!

Dana was amazing to work with! Our cake looked beautiful and tasted delicious on top of it. Dana was even able to add details of my dress into one of the cake layers. I would highly recommend Desserts by Dana for any of your bakery needs!

We opted for cupcakes, and they were the best we have ever had! Our guests agreed, and several have asked for the contact information! They also came recommended by our venue and caterer.

Desserts By Dana was everything we could have asked for! We went in for a tasting, and walked out with a cake order! Dana worked with us to determine our vision, and sat with us searching for cake inspirations that sparked our interest. He was able to create something simplistic and beautiful. He also gave us a University of Delaware alumni discount after chatting and learning we had the same alma mater! Though my husband and I picked out a cake that we knew we would love with our huge sweet tooth (chocolate chip with tiramisu filling), our guests still rave about it today! Thank you for making our day perfect and SWEET!

The cake tasting and cake for my wedding turned out great. No complaints. There's very little communication from the time of the contract being signed to wedding day. It wasn't needed. I reached out a month prior and was told we were all set.

My wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. I was very happy with the quality of my cake. Everyone said how pretty it looked and how good it was.

Desserts by Dana was wonderful! They were part of my wedding package so I did not shop around much for a baker. But I am so glad! The cake tasting was so enjoyable and meeting with the designer was so much fun! They were able to take pictures that I found on pinterest and create a design from multiple images that I liked. They had many different flavors available between cakes and fillings that the combinations were endless! We chose the pink champagne cake with buttercream filling and red velvet cake with caramel chocolate mousse. It was delicious and beautiful! Exactly what I wanted! I also rented a cake stand from them that I saw when I went in for the cake tasting and it just added that extra touch of elegance. I would highly recommend desserts by Dana!!

Working with this vendor was a nightmare. We chose Desserts by Dana through our venue as part of our package. We made the wrong choice. The consultation/testing was great, and the cake was great, but everything in between was a complete nightmare. Communication is not even subpar; it is non-existent! If you call, you wind up in a phone tree. If you leave a message, no one will call you back. If you email, you may or may not get a response. Ever. Emails were claimed to never have been received. I received a call 1 month before my wedding asking if we were sure we didn't need their services. I was taken about by this since everything was chosen and contract was executed about 6 months prior. They said they had no signed contract and were about cancel us out. NIGHTMARE! No one we interacted with seemed to carry themselves with any professionalism aside from Dana himself. Seems like staffing and management of the business are the biggest issues. Issues I certainly did not need to deal with. I would recommend Desserts by Dana if you want to walk in and walk out with a tasty treat. But nothing that involves a timeline and extended interaction.

Our cake was just as expected! We provided two inspiration pictures and discussed the features from each & we could not have been happier with the appearance! I must thank Netesha for trying to SAVE us money by explaining the size of the cake vs. the number of actual guests; however I had something stuck in my head and two teenage daughters accompanying me who had the same idea! The cake was as delicious as it was beautiful!!

We were very happy with the cake and the service we received from Dessert by Dana. We got to meet with Dana himself for our tasting and the plan the cake, which was a very enjoyable experience. Dana took a lot of time to go through all of our options and discuss what the perfect cake would look like for our day. The tasting experience was awesome. Most importantly our cake was really tasty on our big day! I have a big sweet tooth so I have high expectations for cake. The cake was moist and flavorful. The buttercream was sweet without being too heavy or sugary. When my groom and I cut into the cake for our first taste we couldn't help ourselves, we had to take a second taste because it was just that good!

My husband and I wanted an ice cream cake for our wedding. We didn't know if this was even possible, but Dana took the idea and ran with it. We wanted something simple and he gave us exactly what we wanted. We are both UD alum and he even used the UD Creamery ice cream. The cake was amazing. My husband was upset because he didn't get his flavor since the venue only cut his flavor and not mine (and secretly I got his and liked it much more). The one difficulty we had was cutting the cake since it hadn't been defrosted long enough, but it was delicious. I do wish there was more ice cream as he did an ice cream 'filling' between 2 layers of cake for each cake tier. We also asked that a new cake be made for our anniversary which he said he could do.

I met with Dana and everything went smooth. I brought pictures of my exact cake and cupcake towers (these pictures were left with him). We also built an example tower together and took a picture of it (round top, and square bottom). I was very direct on my not liking the round cupcake tower. I later was contacted by another employee through email. I had asked for confirmation a few times on if they still had the pictures and etc. It was hard to get responses back in a timely manner. At the wedding, I saw they used the round bottom which upset me but wasn't a huge deal. I then contacted the employee of Desserts by Dana just to make them aware of the mistake, and they didn't even apologize...No response. The service is really what upset me with this company. Also their lack of following the look of pictures and requests of paying customers. The actual taste of the cake and cupcakes were great.

I went with Desserts by Dana for our wedding cake and it came out beautifully, I had brought in a picture with the color and look that I wanted with a few adjustments i.e. Square instead of round and 'hidden mickeys' They accommodated without a problem and delivered it to our venue, the only issue was that they put fondant on the foundation of the cake which made it difficult for the staff at the venue to handle since their fingers would sink in and made it hard for them to carry and get a grip as my cake was a bit heavy but everything else was spot-on.

After a terrible cake tasting experience we didn't use Desserts By Dana, but it was so terrible I thought I'd warn other brides. We went in for our scheduled cake tasting and the front door was locked (even though they knew we were coming) and there was a sign telling us to go in the back. So we climbed up the truck loading dock and walked in the kitchen where two women just stared at us, didn't welcome us or say hi. So we explained we had an appointment and the one girl walked us through an air conditioned room to an un-air conditioned room where the model cakes were melting and the colors were running. We were limited to tasting three cake flavors and four icing flavors. The woman we worked with acted annoyed and was pressing us to make our decision within minutes of arriving. We told her that the cakes tasted dry (one was so dry it crumbled under our fork) and she just stared at us like, "and?" We were so turned off by the whole experience I called another cake vendor from their parking lot to make another appointment. I don't know if the actual cake would have turned out better, but the customer service alone was reason enough for us not to use them.

I would like to thank Desserts by Dana for making the cake of my daughters dreams. It exceeded our expectations. All of our guests loved it. Thank you again for making it an easy task. It was the easiest task for the entire wedding, but the most delicious! I wish you all the best in the future and you can be sure we will be ordering all our cakes from Desserts by Dana from now on.

I am a bride of 6 weeks. I felt compelled to share my experience with Desserts by Dana with future brides. Our wedding cake was one of the repeated focal points of our evening. Dana and his staff listened to our design ideas and WOW!!!! When we entered the reception hall and saw the cake for the first time, my husband and I were thrilled. It was just what we envisioned. As we followed the tradition of cutting and sharing the first piece, it delivered the perfectly textured burst of flavor with strawberry filling that was very pleasing to our palates. We still chime in when we look at pictures that include the cake sent by friends and relatives by saying @*@*, our cake was on point". That's one for the books. Desserts by Dana did such an awesome job with our cake. I had a bit of a problem with the flowers and had to pick up an actual orchid plant to take to them. They made our cake look so amazing with what I brought to them to work with. And of course, it tasted phenomenal!! The orange creamsicle part of our cake was my personal favorite. They rock!!

Thanks so much for such great desserts! The set up was beautiful and from what my guests said...all was delicious. As hostess of the event, I of course, didn't get to sample all.. but the fruit tart and Eiffel Tower cookie. I do have to say those two were delicious! I had my wedding cake done by Desserts By Dana and was impressed. I am out of town bride, so I didn't have many opportunities to do a lot of face to face consultations. They were able to combine elements from 2 different cakes to lead to my final vision. I was so impressed with my cake. It looked so marvelous. It also tasted great. There was not much left for me to eat. I had damask symbols along the cake in gold on a ivory cake and on each round there was a gold rim. There were also bands of crystals around some of the cake rounds. It looked soo awesome. I was utterly impressed! They did a great job. Please choose them if you are getting married, or any event and need a cake.

Desserts by Dana was great to work with. We got our wedding cake and grooms cake there. The cake was so delicious, so worth every penny. My grooms cake was very intricate in design and they made it perfect! It was a 3D version of my husband's pickup truck on the beach with our 3 dogs peeking out of the truck window. It was amazing, and my husband was so surprised! It was great, I can't wait to order another cake from them!

We met w/Dana & asked him if he could create a vegan layer to our wedding cake. The other layers were "regular" cake. The cake turned out absolutely beautiful & the vegan cake was sooooo moist & delicious. I can't wait until our 1st anniversary so we can order another cake!
