First, I'd like to say that Chelsey is a newer videographer with minimal experience. I chose Chelsey as she was reasonably priced and I am always open and willing to provide new businesses with opportunities. I hired Chelsey to do our wedding videography and I have to be honest, the quality of her work was not up to par with her fees. There was little to no communication between the time of booking and 3 weeks prior to the wedding date. I ended up being the one to reach out first to confirm she still had me on the books.
Come the wedding day, Chelsey arrived on time and did a good job following the photographer to capture details of the venue and wedding party. However, during the reception party guests noticed Chelsey taking a break by the fire, which would have been fine since it was really cold that night, but what was bothersome was that her eyes were closed and it appeared as if she had fallen asleep. With this said, none of the party was recorded so we were left with zero footage of our guests dancing and having a great time.
When the video was provided to me, it was borderline disappointing. The opening shot was off-center. Most of the footage was either shaky or not in focus. It is clearly evident that Chelsey shot all footage handheld without a camera stabilizer or tripods, which is frustrating because she did bring a tripod with her. Really not sure why the tripod wasn't utilized more. Our grand entrance into the reception is completely fuzzy and you cannot clearly see my husband and me. The first dance and father/mother dances are completely out of frame. My father's head gets cut off several times throughout the dance scene.
I shared the video with my wedding party, my photographer (whose husband does videography), a family friend who is also a videographer and a few others. Everyone pointed out the same complaints that I have. One of the videographers even went as far as to say that the video doesn't look professional but rather like a "1999 home video." When I shared my feedback with Chelsey she did make an effort to improve the video, but since most of the issues stem from the actual shooting of the footage, there was very little she could do.
With all this said, I do have to say that Chelsey has a great eye for angles and transitions. If she invests money into the necessary equipment and continues to brush up on the latest videography techniques, she will surely master this sometime in the future.
If you are looking for a cinematic feel to your video, this is not the videographer for you (right now). If you are looking for a quality video to share on your socials, this may not be the videographer for you. However, if you are looking for someone to simply capture your wedding day with no other expectations, then this may be the videographer for you.
Our video was so beautiful and amazing. Chelsey was the best! She was so kind and easy to get along with, so many of my guests were very impressed with her. Definitely recommend 10/10!
