We had a huge wedding party and John did a great job capturing us in unique and original photographs. The day of he was professional and fun to work with. I know we were a big bunch and a lot to handle, but he never made us feel like that. He made me feel calm and confident all day. Our pictures turned out amazing. s, at no point was I EVER worried about this investment. Starting from the day we first met with John (before even hiring) he asked many great questions about us, our wedding, our guests, and our location to be sure he was confident in what he could offer us, and honestly it got my wife and I thinking deeper and learning more about each other as well. He never acted as a salesman and was very comfortable to work with, like he was a friend of ours and really cared. Leading up to our wedding he sent us ideas, examples, and more questions to round-up his vision. On the day of, he perfectly implemented everything we discussed and showed great organization (and much leniency with last minute ideas/requests) as he led our whole family through the post-ceremony photo time and then brought my bride and I around the whole island of Belle Isle with great spots he planned for us to use. The entire time my wife and I really felt confident and beautiful as he posed us, we never felt uncomfortable and most the time he wanted to catch us in our natural ways in sort of a photo-journalistic method which felt great to be ourselves. He showed us quick previews during our shoot to be sure we were happy and was really open to anything we suggested on the fly. Both John and his partner are very professional and well-spoken, somebody you'd love to have around at your wedding. AT LEAST a dozen guests commented to us during our reception how impressed they were with our photographers, how they were such "cool people" and that they always seemed to be in the perfect spot to capture the one-time moments (family interaction, funny dancers, genuine laughs/smiles, etc) that you can't recreate or pose. Of all the things that can go wrong with a wedding (and did with ours), this was the best choice I made and I highly recommend them to anybody. We met with 6 other photographers as well and Detroit Wedding Photography was the clear-cut winner. The others seemed like businesses and salesman, these are actual people that care about your day and willing to do whatever necessary to make it better. He shot my bridal shower, Rehearsal Dinner and him and Alvyn teamed up for the Wedding Day. We have so many beautiful photos capturing these important days and had so much fun through it all! Detroit Wedding Photography met all of my high standards! We got high quality photos for a low price. Detroit Wedding Photography doesn't do the "typical" photos of the couple posing awkwardly in matching white sweaters. Their work looks straight out of the wedding issue of Vogue. Alvyn paid so much attention to detail with each photo he took. He would fix my hair if it was in my face, posed us according to which way the wind was blowing, and even would give (amazing) creative suggestions. You could tell he really cared that our pictures turned out great. We loved him so much, we even had drinks together! He showed us some pictures off of his camera, and I could not believe they weren't even edited yet! His shots were AMAZING and I will be recommending him to every bride in passing.
