Diane's Dresses Etc

Diane’s Dresses was my second stop on my dress shopping excursion. I was open with what I wanted coming in, all I wanted was sparkle. My first stylist chose some gowns in my budget, and I was not feeling them. I then got to look at the racks as well as my MOH to try to find something I like. When I saw my dress, I knew that was the one I wanted, however it was over budget. But I thought, “hey I will make cuts where I need to.” I tried on the dress but did not like that it was off the shoulder and asked if we could raise the straps somehow and my stylist called Diane over and she said, “Alterations to make that dress what you want would cost more than the dress, but we can keep looking.” So as crushed as I was, I took off the dress and kept trying more on. I left that dress in my dressing room so I could keep looking at her. Finally, they had me try on (IN MY OPINION) a VERY ugly dress and it GOT STUCK on me. I had a small panic attack and started to cry. My MOH asked me what was going on so I told her that I hated the dress that was on me and that I wished that we could make my dress work. My stylist and my MOH worked together to get me out of the other dress, and I said I wanted to put mine back on. They called Diane back over and I asked her again if it was possible and she said it could work and that she misunderstood earlier. WHEW! I decided to say yes to that dress, we filled out the paperwork. I cam back a few months later to make sure I still loved it as much as I did the first time. I did and I put my first payment down. They measured me and stated I was about a 20 but the dress I tried on was a 18. When I went in to pay off the dress, they measured me again (I didn’t gain or lose any weight) but they said that the dress I tried on what an 18 (but stretched out) so closer to a 20 (which it fit just fine) but they wanted to order a size even bigger even though the 18 fit and zipped. I said I would like to order the 20 so that I didn’t have to pay to get it taken in, but they ordered the 22. When I came to pick up the dress after it arrived, they tried to say that I had just lost weight which is why the dress was so big (Literally could fall off me, which is odd feeling), I said no you just ordered a bigger size. They were more comfortable making sure it was to big vs to small (which I understand, but it was annoying I had to pay an extra $350 to a seamstress to get it simply just to fit again). They gave me a “free bride hanger” but charged an extra $30 for a bag for the dress as it did not come with one at all. I just think if I am spending $1500+ on a dress that the $30 bag should be included. Overall, it was an okay experience. I have had GREAT experiences with them before trying to find a prom dress. I just think that some things could’ve been handled a little differently.
