Diane made our Wedding Cake and it was Phenominal! We had a 3 layer cake, all different flavors of cakes and fillings. Lemon cake with raspberry filling, vanilla cake with Oreo filling and chocolate cake with a peanut butter filling. All of which were awesome. We did decide to go with the Italian meringue buttercream which was a little extra but WOW was is it worth it. We had so many compliments on the cake. Definitely recommend!

Owner and chef Diane Nussbaum has been baking since 1981 and running her own shop since 1986, earning five "Best of Philly" awards. Her work extends further, though, and she has recreated Philadelphia's Bourse Building in sugar and miniature Cézanne sculptures for the Philadelphia Art Museum. Signature touches like gum paste flowers, rolled fondant, and edible lace have also made Diane's cakes a favorite in Philadelphia Magazine's "Elegant Weddings."

I began my baking career as a hobby, while I was teaching students with reading disabilities. After moving to NJ in 1979, I decided to bake for a friend who had just opened a restaurant in Phila. After baking for a few restaurants from my home, I decided to look for a commercial space. This led to my working with a bakery in Haddonfield, and then buying that bakery-La Patisserie Francaise. I baked there for 15 years, moved to Bellmawr for more space, and finally moved to W. Berlin , where we now bake every thing to order. We fill orders as they are placed and are picked up there.

wanted to be married at a time and place where most of our family could be there. This meant planning a wedding in 6 weeks 3 1/2 hours away from where we live. Providing food was complicated by dietary restrictions of no gluten, chocolate, nor sugar cane products. However, one of my sisters found a baker who was willing to work with us and who had a good reputation.
The baker, Diane Nussbaum and I spoke at length via phone. I was deeply impressed, and found her to be kind, intelligent, delightful, professional, and, thankfully, willing to take on my special-needs. There are a number of bakers who will make gluten-free cakes, but who would be willing to try and to be able to bake a proper Wedding Cake without gluten, sugar, chocolate, nor artificial colors?
The Result: A moist sweet flavorful, two tiered, dense lemony cake with raspberry couli inside and a pink frosting, gently tinted with a mist of fresh raspberry juice, accented with a subtle golden shimmer, and white rosettes placed just as I'd requested them to be. WOW!
The very presence of that Wedding Cake elevated the magic of our amazing day! Thank you, Diane!

. We were so thrilled with our cake and so were our guests! We were so excited that we had 4 tiers for 130 people and each tier could be a different cake/filling combo. We ended up selecting the largest and top tiers to be lemon pound cake/vanilla filling, 2nd largest to be chocolate chip cake/mocha filling, and the 3rd to be vanilla pound cake/vanilla filling. One of our criteria was ensuring that the cake would not be overpoweringly sweet (as most are) and we were so happy when Diane's cake met the mark. We wanted to keep the decorations simple, and she did a great job with that as well. Also, Diane was so easy to work with. Our tasting was done at her home in Cherry Hill, which was convenient for us. She presented us with 4-5 samples and was able to figure out our decorations with my (poor) descriptors. I checked in with her over the phone a couple times to make sure she had everything she needed with us and the venue, and each time, she remembered me and confirmed all the details. We will definitely reach out to Diane in the future!!

he made us feel like we were much more than just an order number to her. She was interested in learning about us, our wedding plans and any special requests.
Being gluten free myself, I was not looking forward to cake tasting because I just assumed I would be left out. This was not the case. Diane had amazing ideas about how to accommodate me, as the bride, yet not interfere with the guests or add unnecessary costs. Having celiac meant we had a secrete cake that we fed each other for pictures, while the beautiful, nonGF cake was decorated and on display during the wedding reception. We went with a smaller option and offered other gluten free desserts as well. Thank you Diane for making our best day ever that much better!!

A few critiques are that I would be careful for extras - we upgraded our butter cream and it was listed as 50 cent a person but we were charged $100 making it $1 a person. I don’t think the price is outrageous just wish it was clearer. We were offered a free anniversary cake for a review, but I would review regardless and review the truth not something for a free cake. Lastly I don’t think my cake resembled my inspiration pictures at all. But the room was darker so it was fine but if your expecting food network level quality decoration then keep in mind.
