From the start, he was so easy and fun to work with. He handled all of the announcing perfectly and added thoughtful personal touches that made the night feel special for both us and our guests. His music choices were spot on, and he did an amazing job reading the room and keeping the energy high. Our guests were on the dance floor from start to finish, which is exactly what we wanted.
So many of our guests came up to us to tell us how great the DJ was, which says a lot because they truly noticed the difference. Jeff was able to accommodate every request I had without hesitation, and the disco ball was such a fun and memorable touch that everyone loved!

nes offered us DJ Mikey, stating he had just as much experience and will deliver like our original DJ would have. After many times of asking, it was made clear that DJ Mikey has only done a few weddings in the past. When we told how uncomfortable this made us, Jeff said he understood but told us there were no comparable replacements available. The only alternative offered was a DJ from Tucson who has never worked for the company before with no wedding experience, so we stayed with DJ Mikey — who also had minimal wedding experience, which became very clear on the day of the event.
Our grand entrance song was never played, and the DJ accidentally played it at the start of our first dance, confusing our guests. Our actual first dance song was played incorrectly, with background music still running over it. Announcements throughout the night were so quiet that guests couldn’t hear what was happening, and our venue coordinator had to step in multiple times because the DJ wasn’t communicating with anyone.
Both parent dances started in the middle of the songs with no fade‑in or transition. Jeff had also promised us two sets of cold sparks, but we only received one — and even that required a delay because they were set up incorrectly.
After the wedding, we shared all of this with Jeff and Danii, owners of Direct Sound. They offered a 50% refund, but only if we agreed not to post reviews or speak negatively about our experience. We declined. Couples deserve transparency when choosing vendors for such an important day.
I hope this helps future couples make an informed decision, as I wish I we had known this about this company before using them.

Our ceremony was beautiful, and Justin brought the moment to life with our music choices, and ensuring there were no awkward pauses when a song would end.
After our ceremony Justin kept our guests attended to for cocktail hour, and hyped up the crowd for our grand entrance. Our first dance went off without a hitch, with a perfectly timed sparkler moment to match.
During dinner, he played music from a playlist I had assembled, setting the scene for the rest evening. He facilitated the special dances with family, and kept everything moving along at a nice pace.
To wrap up the evening, Justin tapped into the EDM and Rock music we discussed in our prior meetings, and we had our own private rave.
We could not be more thrilled with our wedding experience, and Justin from Direct Sounds did everything in his power to bring our vision to life.

Our DJ was DJ M-Cat, Michael. He kept the vibes going all night long. We really wanted to have a fun dance floor and we got it. He got the music just right! He also was communicative with us beforehand and asked us what we wanted. Direct Sounds also had a music portal where we could provide all of our requests, playlists, etc.
We also booked our Photo Booth with Direct Sounds. Which was such a hit with our guests. We also got copies of all the photos, which are so fun to look back on now!
Overall, we would highly recommend Direct Sounds for all of these services! We are so grateful for all the individuals with Direct Sounds who helped make our day great!

One word of caution though is that we attended a different wedding with DJ Mike and he was awful. My husband and I were in the bridal and groom's parties and we saw that behind the scenes, he made some really weird and inappropriate comments to the groom and the parties and then there were a good 10 minutes where he wasn't at his booth and there was no music playing. Mike was originally assigned to us, but it was easy to call in and request the change to Matt... and I'm SO happy that we did.
But if you are assigned Matt, know that you're in amazing hands!

After filling out our “profile” and details of our ceremony/reception, Mike not only got a better sense of what we were looking for, he was able to perfectly gauge our vision as we were all likeminded native East Coasters. Mike communicated to us the expectations for the event, was responsive to questions and was flexible with last minute changes & additions — from Top 40 hits to Motown classics to old/new school east coast hip hop to the infusion of Cape Verdean culture that integrated KIZOMBA, dancehall/reggae, reggaeton & afrobeats— Mike was the definition of VERSATILE that kept the energy UPBEAT. Though timing slipped away from us during the ceremony and beginning of reception, Mike managed to integrate all of these music genres in less than two hours. We had created a playlist for both guest arrival, cocktail hour, and dinner. But gave him full control of the reception, and told him “to feel out the crowd”. Jeff absolutely crushed it.
