We are here for you during this crisis!
We realize how deeply impacting the coronavirus pandemic has been to everyone during these past few weeks and months. Many weddings have had to be postponed or cancelled altogether, including several that we were committed to being a part of. As we move forward into the summer and fall, and the crisis abates and plans begin anew, we know many couples will be looking to secure entertainment for their 2021 weddings. As a way of easing your transition, we are currently offering a 10% discount to all who book our premium wedding package for their 2021 wedding. We have many dates available, and are fully prepared to deliver the most amazing musical experience you could hope to experience on your special day. y planning stages, my musically inclined husband sent an entire spreadsheet of music we wanted throughout the day, Kevin understood our style and the type of reception we wanted. He was great with the timeline of events, was spot on with the mic and music for every element (couple introduction, multiple speeches, first dance, cake cutting, etc), and played songs that kept our group dancing until the 11pm cutoff at our venue. We danced so much, our friends and family literally broke the dance floor in half! We were so happy we partnered with Kevin to keep our day rocking. The photo booth was a last minute add for us, and we weren’t sure we wanted to spend the money, but we’re so glad we did. We ended up making this a focal point: it was super fun for guests to pose with props during the cocktail hour and beyond, we used the photo strips as our guest book, and gave out magnetic photo holders as gifts. All of our guests had a personal keepsake to commemorate our day! His wife Lorie ran the show: the photos were high quality and printed fast, she made sure everyone had fun and added to the photo book, and they worked with us on the photo background design, fun props, and the backdrop. For our very first meeting, Kevin arrived early to our appointment, he came prepared with paper copies and digital copies of contracts, and was extremely easy to communicate with. He walked me thru a general plan for music and lighting based on our venue space, and let me know that as I knew more specifics we could be in touch.
As we approached the wedding, my fiancee and I were able to map out our music requests on Kevin’s well-organized forms. Kevin has pre-organized his music into genres, so it was easy to choose favorites and give him an idea of what we wanted. When we had questions, Kevin was an email away and always quick to respond.
Day of the wedding: Kevin filled our reception room with music and atmosphere, and all our guests (young and old) said they could still talk at dinner AND hear the music! The music volume was a perfect balance and the lighting was on point - incredible! As an extra bonus, Kevin created a digital copy of our wedding music playlist and sent it to us after the wedding. A great keepsake and a sweet memory. I highly recommend Disco Royale!

test pop and everything in between. As challenging as it was Kevin was able to make it flow in a manner that all our guests thoroughly enjoyed. He also was quite the entertainer as he had 100+ people roaring with laughter while we played the "shoe game".
Lastly, they just started up with using a photo booth. We were happy to have this option as it helped us consolidate vendors and build a very memorable guest book full of silly pictures of friends and family. I would highly recommend this duo for any of your DJing needs.

I hired Kevin for a big birthday for me. I curated the playlist based on times in my life and even had that list on each table with notations to help my guests know why I chose certain songs. I told him - from the start and thereafter - that ...
I wanted these songs. He never pushed back when I told him this and took the job.
Kevin and I went back and forth on the list; my initial one was way too long. He did push back against some songs but I had reasons I wanted them and left them in. I did follow his advice and cut songs and co-joined songs. He had the final list days before the event and indicated he was ready. He never said, "I can't co-join these songs" or that it was too late to change the list. (The contract does NOT specify a time limit for the playlist.)
What did he do? He left out about 15 songs. He did not co-join songs as I requested so I could get more favorite songs.
He played Don't Stop Believing," and I was upset because 1) it wasn't on my playlist and 2) I do like the song but I believe it is overplayed. I think, for my money, I'm allowed to say no to a song. That was not the only song he played that was not on the list.
I had to ask him - twice - to stop playing a song he had started that he picked. Did he segue out of the song to another one that actually was on the list? Nope, twice he let the room go silent and then put on another song.
That is really unprofessional on his part and it embarrassed me. Several people asked about it and my coordinator asked me, "What's up with the DJ?"
I had a great party,despite the music but I was saddened that I done all this work only to have some of it ignored by Kevin.
This was a birthday party and you can always have another birthday party; you can't have another wedding reception.
Kevin has taken great offense that I have reviewed his service with a less-than-stellar review. Elsewhere he made fun of my song choices and decried the speeches made. Again, unprofessional and hurtful.
Lastly, if control of the music means something to you, then consider that in your pick of a DJ.

I understand that before she hired me to deejay her 60th birthday party, she had a little problem with a venue that ran her credit card up to the tune of several thousand dollars against her wishes. I can sympathize with her on that count, but being mistreated by another vendor doesn't automatically give her the right right to be abusive to me. As the saying goes, your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins.
Melissa initially gave me a 94-song playlist for the 3-hours I was slotted to play. I told her, in a very nice way, it was way too long: "I can play about 15 songs an hour. I would say, conservatively, you've got about 6 hours of music." I went on to say, "I will play as many of these as I can, but if you have any Must-Plays, please highlight or check them on the word doc I am attaching. I would hate to leave off any of your important tunes".
She responded by saying, "Well, I knew it was probably too long but a girl can dream", and sent a second list. This one came in at 68 songs, still half again too long to fit in the 3 hour window. None were highlighted.
So it appeared to me that none of them were "must-plays". I attempted to clarify, outlining my method: "I will try to adhere to your playlist as best I can, but my #1 priority, as always, will be to keep people dancing... I don't want to give anybody any excuse to leave the dance floor, because once they walk off the dance floor, they're one step closer to the door... I'm gonna do my best to make sure everyone stays till the end."
She replied: "Thanks for your input", but the list went untrimmed, and again, no must-plays were highlighted. She mentioned something about putting lists on the tables "for the weirdos that don't dance", but I never saw the printed list (no one put one on my table). She also didn't tell me she had hired a coordinator (!) and I didn't find out until the coordinator introduced herself to me at the party.
At the party, I did as I said I would, adhering as closely as possible to her playlist while keeping an eye on the dance floor. Despite her playlist being way too long for the allotted time, I managed to play 56 of her tunes, which is, I believe, my all-time record for such a short event. Most importantly, I kept the dance floor hopping the whole night, which I assumed was the reason she had hired me in the first place.
I also provided uplighting and dance floor lighting, including a mirror ball with two pin spots, and a fancy "M" gobo, which I ordered especially for Melissa and paid for out-of-pocket. She never thanked me for it, and later trolled me on social media about my offer to drop her fancy "M" gobo in the mail, calling the gesture "weird". She could have simply said no thanks.
I don't know why Melissa chose to go down the rabbit hole of trying to force 4.5 hours of music into a 3-hour window. But by the time she realized what she'd done, it was too late. Yes, a girl can dream, but at some point that she's going to have to wake up. It's unfortunate that Melissa didn't wake up to the reality that she had way too many songs on her playlist until the final hour of her party, at which point she threw a little tantrum and became verbally abusive. By choosing not to edit her playlist, Melissa put me in the no-win position of having to do it myself, which exposed me to sucker-punch social messaging like the following tweet: "don't hire disco royale to dj your party, they will take your money and not play your music". False and defamatory.

budget for our wedding and the DJ was one of the last vendors we booked - and if you are planning a wedding you know that a budget can get out of hand quickly. We contemplated not evening having a DJ and letting a friend run a Spotify playlist for the night but decided to reach out to Kevin and a few other DJ's recommended by our photographer to see if any of them would be willing to work with our budget. Kevin was the only one who came back willing to work with us yet he provided everything we could have asked for and more! He was an excellent emcee and kept the night flowing smoothly - something our friend running the Spotify on an iphone would not have been able to do. We met with Kevin before the wedding and explained our vision for the evening and the music we liked. Kevin was very knowledgeable about music and genres and his worksheet that he provided us was quite extensive, allowing him to better understand our style. My husband and I both felt comfortable allowing him to use his knowledge and experience to select music that would keep the party going while staying true to our music tastes. Kevin brought his wife to help who was so friendly and personable. Our wedding guests commented throughout the night how friendly they were and even thought they might be family! We really cannot say enough good things about Kevin, he was professional throughout the whole process and really saved our wedding by allowing us to us a professional to run the sound and emcee the evening. We are thankful that we found Kevin and we would not hesitate to recommend him to our own friends and family - and to you!

sound quality at the venue would be good enough and even provided extra equipment on the big day to enhance the sound on the rooftop, where our ceremony took place.
We were very intent on getting specific songs into each part of the wedding, and Kevin was more than willing to work with our playlists. We were even able to make some very last minute changes for the ceremony music without any problems from Kevin. In fact, from our first meeting on, Kevin was responsive to emails and very fun to speak with. Our guests loved the music, and given how busy we were, we can't exactly remember all the songs that were played, but Kevin's got that covered as well - he's sending us the complete playlists.
Kevin was definitely one of the best finds for our wedding. We'd highly recommend Disco Royale to anybody looking for a DJ!

lower priced "spotlight" package. I originally suggested I could provide that service, but then reconsidered, and told Robert that my associate DJ Lauren would be reaching out to him. Before she even had an opportunity to give him a call, Robert wrote this review, which it should be noted, was posted several months BEFORE his wedding was scheduled to occur. I have refunded in full the entire $0.00 that he didn't pay us for not deejaying his wedding.

nt down and cut the songs to the exact places/lengths I wanted. He also provided us with a customization guide sheet to make sure we had the songs we wanted for key moments during the wedding. Kevin was responsive with his emails and made sure he knew exactly what we wanted, how we wanted it. When the big day came, he was spot-on with my request list and got my husband, my and my friends' music tastes so well that I had guests asking me throughout the night if I picked all the songs for the night! I barely had a chance to sit down because I couldn't get myself to sit out of any of the songs he played! The way he MC'd the evening was also perfect. Just the right amount of commentary and humor before going straight back to the course of events. When the night was winding down and only the closest friends and family remained, my guests spontaneously began circling my husband and I with candles and our send-off bubbles during the last dance. Kevin and his assistant Lauren joined right on in with the bubbles -- it was not at all necessary, but was very touching and showed me how much he cared to make our night special.

nd him! From our first correspondence with him we knew that he was very professional and would be great to work with. He was very interested to hear about the types of music we liked and the vibe that we wanted for our big day. My fiance is really into a lot of different types of music and Kevin was very familiar with all of the names that my fiance threw at him and had a good sense of exactly what we were looking for. He definitely knows his stuff! Kevin was also very prompt to respond to any emails I sent with questions or concerns. He sent song suggestions and had ideas for how to have ceremony and reception flow smoothly. He played all of the songs that we requested at some point throughout the night, and he had all of the right versions that we had requested. He made any announcements that we asked him to, but did so in a perfectly unobtrusive and professional manner. Kevin is very personable, easy-going, fun, and cool, and has a great attitude! The dance floor was packed for most of the night and Kevin was extremely flexible and threw in a second "last" song since the groom missed the original last song. My only regret is that I was too busy running around for the first part of the evening to be able to truly enjoy the music and atmosphere that Kevin helped to create. But he has generously offered to create us a wedding CD with all of the songs on it from the day so we can relive it! It was a lovely event and we are extremely grateful that we had Kevin be a part of it!

was highly organized and flexible with structuring the contract. He was willing to work with our timeline and our budget, and even put in some extra time that wasn't specified in the contract. Kevin kept to our music suggestions but he was also able to read the crowd and keep the party going on the dance floor. There was never a lull in participation. He's also versatile and did some impromptu emceeing that helped our wedding reception move smoothly. For the Seattle area, Kevin's rates are very affordable and given his high level of service, his rates are actually a steal.

During the planning stages, we also appreciated that Kevin was very relaxed (important for stressed-out couples!) and so always professional -- never pushy, which was a vibe we'd gotten from some other DJs we'd talked to. Communication, whether by Skype, email, or in person, was a breeze because he was so responsive and friendly. We had a slightly nonstandard order of songs for the reception (we kicked things off with a hava nagila, with no real "first dance," etc.), and he was totally game to work with our plan.
On the day of, Kevin was gracious and flexible when dinner ran a little late (we booked him just for the reception, and his rates, which I believe were for the off-season since it was an October wedding, were super reasonable) and was able to wrap things up beautifully when our many east coast guests started to get sleepy. Most importantly, though, it was a great party, and friends of ours that we never expected to see on the dance floor were out there having fun. We had a bunch of weird requests, and Kevin was a total pro with all of them... Not everyone can make "Age of Consent" fit as a wedding reception song, but, somehow, he totally pulled it off. There was an impromptu soul train, a twist contest, and everybody went home tired and happy -- we danced all night!

We had a very hard time finding a DJ we liked. We both enjoyed talking with Kevin about our music tastes, and he kept the dance floor rocking. He was also a great MC.
Kevin was awesome. He accommodated all of our requests and even sent us a playlist of the music that was played at the wedding. Everything was played to perfection and he was very professional. I would definitely recommend him.
