DJ Barticus

We do not recommend DJ Barticus. In fact, if we did, we truly would be doing a disservice to others. We hired him for our wedding in June of 2019. My husband & I both felt strongly about having a great DJ, making a great playlist & agreed that one of the most important things, to us at least, was the music. We met w/ DJ Barticus prior to the event and gave him the list we had been working on. He told us we needed to scale it back some & said he wanted to pick some of the songs himself. We slimmed it down, starred the ones that were must haves (per his direction) & gave some general categories like “any Motown”. That way he could still pick a few on his own but they would still be in the genre we wanted. Fast forward to the wedding... DJ BARTICUS GOT HAMMERED AT OUR WEDDING! On the clock, while getting paid, he drank himself into what appeared to be a blackout. He not only didn’t play several of the songs we listed as must haves but he also played songs that were on our DO NOT play list. He was slurring his words, swaying and sloppy. Every time we would go up to him to ask him what was going on, he would mumble words & make absolutely no sense. A few times he asked us, “well what do you want me to do?”. Each time he asked this we told him, “play the songs on the list that we spent a year working on. Just get back to the list”. He played 50 cent, “It’s your birthday” not 1x, but 2x. 50 cent was on our do not play list. He played Seal, he played club music, & probably one of the worst things he did was play “CLOSER” by NINE INCH NAILS. NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, BUT THREE TIMES. If you are unfamiliar with this song, lyrics from the chorus are “I WANT TO **** YOU LIKE AN ANIMAL”. Yes, he played this song, at our wedding, in front of all our family…3 TIMES. In addition to not playing most of our songs, playing ones on our do not play list, & playing inappropriate songs he also would play a song for 30 seconds and abruptly stop it. Start a new song, 30 seconds, stop it. And so on. We were angry, disappointed, but mostly sad & still are. 3 months later & still we’ll hear a song and say to each other, “there’s another song that never got played”. DJ Barticus called & left a message while we were on our honeymoon. He offered to take us out to dinner. He DID NOT offer to give the money back he was paid or even ask what he could do to makes things right. He also did not take responsibility for drinking on the job. He did however say that he just got so excited for us and got lost in the moment. He talked about how it’s a small town we all live in and that we are sure to bump into each other in the future. It sounded like he was more worried about his reputation. We later found out he was laughing about the whole situation to mutual friends. We waited 3 months before writing this review. We wanted to give him time to reach out again and give a real apology this time. We wanted to give him time to make things right with us. Unfortunately, he has not. For him, this is probably just another hazy memory of getting too drunk while DJing. For us, it is something we will remember for the rest of our lives. Please don’t make the same mistake we did. Regardless of who you hire, & even though it seems obvious, make sure you let your DJs &other vendors know they cannot drink while working. We didn’t think that needed to be stated but are paying for it now.

If you’re looking a DJ that will keep your dance floor PACKED and GROOVING, Barticus is the only sure bet. We attended a wedding with DJ Barticus on the decks several years before our own wedding and knew, essentially right away, that he had to be the DJ at ours. Of all our wedding planning hires, DJ Barticus was the star. He is conscientious, kind, organized, and a true professional. He arrived several hours before our ceremony even began to set up all of his gear (including a killer sound system and lights for days) and seamlessly worked with the venue to get his set up just right. He offered guidance when the audio for our ceremony fell through at the last minute, and was just a joy to have around on our wedding day. We continue to receive comments from friends and family about the music at our reception, and how lively it made the night. The best part? We didn’t have to do a thing. We only asked specifically for a few songs, and DJ Barticus just knew exactly what to do. That is really what separates a typical wedding DJ from DJ Barticus - he has the intuition that only true DJs have to know *exactly* what to play at the exactly the right time. He killed it. 11/10. We love DJ Barticus.

We've loved DJ Barticus's dance parties for years, so when we decided to get married in Athens this summer, we knew we wanted him to DJ our wedding. He was so easy to work with, very attentive to all of our questions and requests, and brought all the equipment needed for the ceremony as well as the reception. Our friends and family did not stop dancing all night.

DJ Barticus is amazing. He’s very professional- punctual, cheerful, lots of cool lights and of course a killer sound system. But more importantly he’s fun! Spins all the hits, gets a crowd really going, just a blast. Would recommend him to anyone in the area looking for a terrific DJ and a great time!

DJ Barticus is the best DJ!! He was responsive before and during the event, played our favorite songs, and incorporate requests from guests in a creative and seamless way. We had such a fun night and danced our socks off with DJ Barticus' help. Would definitely recommend!

DJ Barticus is grade A prime DJ. He was a pleasure to work with leading up to our reception. He kept the party alive, incorporated our variety of requests (half speed Aerosmith to Jesse Ware), and was impossibly kind and attentive to us! We love Barticus. One of our esteemed attendees even performed a duet with DJ Barticus that none in attendance will soon forget. Long live DJ Barticus! We would recommend to any and all! Wish we could give more stars!

Barticus did a great job DJing our 2013 wedding. He created great flow, and used our list AND similar songs in the same genres as the songs on our list. When guests requested songs on our "do no play" list, he had them check with me before he would play them. (Those tipsy friends really wanted the Cupid Shuffle. haha!) We also wanted a very limited cheese factor wedding, and Barticus did a great job of just playing great tunes with no silly frills like games or the silly chicken dance, which is exactly what we wanted. People are still talking about how fun our reception was. Thanks, Bart!

Barticus is the best, he really knows how to get a crowd moving. He doesn't just play the oblivious wedding jams, he digs deep and finds the stuff people actually want to hear. Not only have I worked multiple events alongside him, I've attended dozens of weddings he's DJ'd, and he DJ'd my wedding. Always been a pro, and always thrown a hell of a party. If you like jumpsuits and Prince B-sides, this is your guy.

DJ Barticus was amazing! Before the ceremony I provided a timeline to him to follow and he did great, especially with all the changes that I made to my own timeline! The dance floor was never empty! He kept the group moving. The wedding ranged from age 6 months to 70 years old! He was very easy to talk to and coordinate with. I couldn't have asked for a better DJ!
