I'm having a hard time with this review. We hired Brian to do our wedding in October, 2022 which was held on the beach. I'm teeter tottering on my review for Brian because he did an amazing job on the ceremony, and did a "meh" job on the reception.
He arrived early and was professional. His equipment worked with no issues, and sound quality was good. No issues with the ceremony all the songs linked up perfectly, and you could hear everything even over the crashing waves on the beach. The problem we had is when the reception started.
Regarding the reception it started with Brian playing the correct entrance music for the wedding party, but didn't play the typical course section that everyone knows, but instead played the beginning part of the song. Therefore, instead of the wedding party coming out to the high vibrant portion of the song the wedding party came out to a slow opening start to the song. Not a good way to start the mood of the reception.
Later on in the night we played the typical wedding shoe game, but Brian failed to explain the rules and the background music he had playing was too loud to even hear the questions. The bride had to stop the game, and explain how to play to the guests.
The wedding cake cutting announcement was very lack luster in energy, and could of been done much better. It had the same energy as someone announcing that the owner of a "blue Honda needs to move their car".
On top of everything, it didn't seem like Brian played really any of the music that we sent him on our reception music list, so not sure what to make of that.
In summary, we sent Brian a very detailed list of all the songs we wanted and instructions on how we wanted everything done a few weeks before the wedding. Brian did an excellent job during the ceremony all the music we picked was performed perfectly. With the reception it seemed like everything wasn't done to the best of his ability. Overall, it wasn't terrible, but you only get married once and there are so many DJ choices out there I would definitely look around before choosing DJ Brian Hood.
On a side note, we did give him his tip before the reception started. Maybe in his mind we didn't tip him enough and he was upset with that, and it showed in his performance.
Brian was an absolute pleasure to work with! He listened to what types of songs and genres of music we liked to listen to and did an awesome job of doing a great mix of that for our wedding! He kept people dancing all night and I could not recommend him more!
We couldn't have asked for a better DJ on our wedding day!! I didn't leave the dance floor once during the reception- it was so much fun!! Brian did a great job at creating an exciting atmosphere- we were all singing, dancing, and having the time of our lives! Everything was absolutely perfect- I can't thank Brian enough for helping to make our wedding day spectacular and fun for everyone! Even the guests who don't like dancing were out on the dance floor and having a blast! Wonderful music all around and a fantastic person! If you are seeking DJ services, look no further- you will not be disappointed with Brian Hood! :)

I can't say enough good things about Brian - he is a FANTASTIC DJ. He nailed all of our specific requests for our wedding day, and he kept the guests on the dance floor all night. He definitely read the room of the style the group would want to hear, and his transitions in between songs were so good. We got a ton of compliments that it was one of the best weddings our guests had ever attended, I think in huge part to how good of a DJ he was. Leading up to our day I was most worried about people dancing through the night, so I couldn't be more happy with how working with Brian turned out - we would do it all over again!

A good DJ was so important to my husband and I while planning our wedding, and we got everything we wanted with Brian! With COVID we had many unplanned changes to our venue, dance floor size, all of it, and he was flexible and helpful with everything. He was so easy to work with for song requests, made perfect announcements that were clear for our guests, and just handled everything really well. We had people on the dance floor before we even finished taking our couples pictures! Brian was great about playing a variety of songs for all ages and preferences that we had there-we've gotten sooooo many compliments on this part alone. Thanks for being a big part of our perfect day!
Brian is a fantastic DJ! He was easy to work with and get in touch with during our planning leading up to the wedding. While we would have loved to hear a few more of the songs we had given him to play at the reception, he put on an absolutely amazing dance party - talk about getting everyone going! We had so many of our guests talking about the energy at our reception and that was definitely fueled by Brian! Thanks again Brian!
Brian was everything we could have asked for and more! He showed up early the morning of our wedding and was set up and ready to roll. I gave him a list of song requests from friends and family and he played every single one. Not one song off our do not play list was played. He was able to read the room and picked songs based on the vibes he was getting. It was just the best night we could have imagined and he did an amazing job with every aspect of it. He is affordable and comes highly recommended!
I had worked many weddings with Brian and knew he would be a great fit for us! As always, he knows what to play when and also incorporated music that we specifically requested. Super easy to work with and fun, he’a hands down my favorite DJ!

Brian was awesome during the planning process. He guided us through to make the experience personal to us, while also helping when needed. His enthusiasm was contagious and he made sure our guests had a fantastic time while also considering our personal tastes and those of the crowd. Our dance floor was never empty as he read the crowd. We've heard all good things about the party and dancing from our guests. We couldn't have been happier with his services!
Brian was the perfect DJ. He picked songs that were exactly what I was hoping for without even telling him we loved them. He took the time to meet with us before the wedding and get to know the kinds of music we like and what we were looking for on our wedding day.

We hired Brian as our DJ for our wedding at 128 South in Wilmington. He was awesome and I'm so glad we had him there. I've been to too many weddings where the DJ talks too much, thinks he's funnier than he is and generally tries to steal the show. Brian did none of that.
After we met with him, Brian was completely on the same page as we were regarding the style of music, what should and should not be played and the overall tone for our reception. He did an amazing job, and we were so thankful to have him as part of our day.
Brian Hood was an amazing DJ for our wedding--our guests were literally coming up to me during the reception asking for his info so they could book him at their next events! If you're looking for a DJ that is there to a) pack the dance floor, b) not shout or talk or think he is the star of your wedding, c) keep things running smoothly time wise and schedule wise, d) listen to your pre-requests and during requests and play music that will keep the dance floor packed be it party music or slower songs, book DJ Brian Hood. You will not find a better, more professional, more focused on your event being what YOU want it to be DJ.
Booked this DJ in February and my wedding was in November. Everything was fine up until 3 days before the wedding. He suddenly had to have "emergency oral surgery" and would not be able to DJ my wedding. However, he did find a replacement DJ for me that turned out to be very good. I went out with my husband and friends after the wedding reception and guess who I saw DJing at a bar downtown...DJ Brian Hood, caught in his lies! Do not trust or use this DJ. The other DJ that did end up doing my reception was Craig Galloway. I would recommend him.
Brian was really great to work with! He answered any and all questions in the time leading up to the wedding. He did both our ceremony and reception music. Brian played music that got people of all ages on the dance floor having an awesome time. He was willing to cater his music to our specific requests, and did an awesome job of really making it a fun and memorable event. I would highly recommend Brian to DJ any wedding or event that you may have!
