flexible and helpful in helping us reschedule. He helped make what was a really stressful experience easy, and for that we can't thank him enough. When the day came around, he was punctual and helped our officiant setup his microphone, then the party began. Excellent choice and we are thrilled with how everything went!

fessionally the day of the event. The lighting provided was great, he had all appropriate equipment. However, he seemed very flustered during the entire event. His timing for the ceremony music was a little bit off (didn’t start playing recessional song until we were already a few steps down the aisle. Should’ve started right as we had our first kiss.), the music played during the cocktail hour and dinner was coffee house/pop music when we requested and discussed oldies, indie, and Motown. During the reception, even though I specifically asked there NOT be any cheesy announcer talk, there was a lot of it. I also took issue with the fact that he came down to me, the bride, during the reception to complain to me about how people were making requests...? Saying the requests were all over the place and clashed with the initial list we gave him and he didn’t know what to do. I had to tell him to try to use his best judgment, play a mix of songs, and alternate between our requests and guest requests. Essentially reminding him how to DJ. Then he went back to his station and continued to play 4 mid-2000s pop hits in a row, followed by 3 slow songs, then 3 disco songs, etc. It was frustrating and honestly a little bit boring. Older people felt they couldn’t dance, younger people got tired of dancing to the same kinds of songs, it just overall wasn’t very well mixed, which is what you want from your DJ: To see the mood and population of the dance floor and cater to it appropriately. After a few more drinks, I just accepted what was happening and had a nice time regardless. Music was playing, and that’s what was important. But my real issue is this: if you are a DJ, people give you a request list and ‘liked artists’, shouldn’t you use that knowledge to influence the music you play at their event? Also, shouldn’t you understand how to mix it up and bounce between seemingly clashing genres to make things seem interesting? I wouldn’t hire DJ Dan again, but I am grateful that he was responsive beforehand and present the day of. I am sure this is a difficult business to be in, but I try to be honest about my satisfaction with services received.
