Dj Eddy rose affordable entertainment

I hired DJ Eddy for my 9/16/23 wedding. I had seen him DJ at 2 separate weddings and we really enjoyed his vibe so when it came time to start planning for our wedding, picking our DJ was a no brainer. Communication was great in the months leading up to the wedding. Wedding day comes and he brings a helper, as well as his daughter (which was not previously told to me).. His helper was very unprofessional, making comments to the bartenders, being just overall unprofessional. We added the photo booth into our contract and this was supposed to be our wedding favors, the photo booth did not work. The music wasn’t good, I made a whole playlist to be played, songs were repeated, just overall not great. Minutes before the ceremony started Eddy requested the music for the ceremony and the introductions for after, because for whatever reason he did not have that. Overall not the best experience, but we made do with what we had. The day after the wedding Eddy and I talked, he acknowledged the unprofessionalism from his helper and he initiated a conversation in regards to a partial refund which I wasn’t fully expecting, but it was one of those “he’s a good guy” moments because he knew how important these details that were missed and messed up were to me. Months went by and no refund. I had reached out and he told me he was in the hospital and had some personal life issues going on. I was sympathetic and understanding. I gave him some space and reapproached the situation with him asking about an update on the refund he initiated in the first place. Again was met with reasons regarding why I hadn’t received that yet.. And again I was understanding. As the months went on I began to become a little less patient and a little more frustrated. I was finally told end of November beginning of December. So I waited. I reached out again and he told me he had gigs booked for December and would make it right. Last weekend I was told on Friday that by end of weekend I would receive said partial refund. Nothing. So I reached out this past Friday. No answer. Saturday. Multiple messages. No answer until later that night, I was met with a message saying “ Hey an still doing events getting home extremely not ignoring you it's just taking a beating in me and I got extremely sick flu like cold slash body pains so I'll need to add the cash to my card but it'll get done” to which I replied with a message saying I need that money returned to me. I said I knew it was Sunday so I didn’t expect it today, but Monday would be great. I woke up to a notification from cash app saying he declined my refund request. He then blocked me on social media as well as my phone number and also on cash app. To which I screen shotted ALL precious messages from the day after my wedding last year to my most recent messages. I emailed DJ Eddy letting him know that if I did not receive the refund then I will see him in small claims court. This is not the route I wanted to go, but unfortunately it seems it’s the route that has to be taken. Eddy had always seemed like a great stand up guy, so this whole interaction is very off putting and upsetting.
