If you want your wedding to be an unforgettable dance party, Chris is your DJ!
From start to finish, Chris was nothing short of exceptional. He brought an incredible level of prof...
essionalism, energy, and attention to detail that made our wedding reception truly unforgettable.
Chris was deeply committed to making sure our music reflected us and kept everyone—young and old—on the dance floor. From MC’ing the evening to curating a playlist that hit every note, he executed everything with precision and purpose. He blended songs seamlessly, read the room perfectly, and created a nonstop celebration that our guests are still raving about.
He even went the extra mile by editing our bridal entrance song to match our exact vision—and it was perfect. During the planning process, Chris was consistently responsive, easy to work with, and clearly passionate about getting every detail right.
We’ve already started recommending him to all our engaged friends. If you want a packed dance floor, an unforgettable vibe, and a DJ who truly cares, Chris is hands down the best in town!
Chris was fantastic to work with, I'm so glad we found him! Hood River and the Gorge wasn't just a wedding venue for us, it's also a former home, a place we celebrate holidays, and...
an epicenter of friends. Finding vendors who didn't just do weddings in Hood River, but WERE Hood River was incredibly important to us, and Chris was perfect.
Before the wedding itself, we loved just getting to know him. It's clear that Chris is truly passionate about music, knowledgable, and wants to share this love with everyone else. Hearing him geek out over certain songs and moods, seeing his record collection, we knew we made the right choice.
Chris also worked with us to make a custom edit of our first dance (wanted to splice out the middle instead of fade off halfway), and he had no issue respecting my ask to play the bride entry music until the end (it was short :D) or the fact that we weren't looking for MC moments (big entry annoucements).
At the wedding, music and sound went without a hitch. I'll admit that our group wasn't as into dancing as I was hoping (people were enjoying the conversation and pre-sunset dancing can be hard to get started), and my husband and I were taking sunset photos during the 90's singalong I was looking forward to (which apparently wasn't that well-attended), but the 80's dance party once the sun set was a blast. The last dance with 'At Last' was romantic and a beautiful way to end the night.
I'm glad we chose DJ Grok, and we can absolutely recommend Chris to anyone else who's getting married in the area!
DJ Grok was amazing. He worked our wedding at the Crag Rat Hut and had an incredible set up with lights and a killer DJ station. He also provided mics for the ceremony and a separa...
te set up for background music at our dinner. He is reasonably priced and offers so much. I cannot recommend him highly enough. We loved having him and hope we get to attend another one of his weddings in the future -- the party was just so good!
Chris was the DJ for our wedding in Parkdale, OR 8/15/2020 and did a phenomenal job! We were considering skipping a DJ since we did a lot of planning music-wise, but are so glad we...
had someone to make the day run smoothly. He was very flexible and understanding with all of the changes and stress that went along with having a wedding during covid, and really helped take some of the burden off of us. He read the crowd and kept the music flowing, AND had great taste in music, WIN!
Our wedding did not get to happen how I had hoped because of COVID restrictions and Chris did absolutely everything he could to still make it an amazing day. He did the ceremony an...
d helped as much as he could for the reception and charged us fairly since it was no ones fault. I am so appreciative and would highly recommend him!
Chris did a fantastic job DJing and MCing our wedding ceremony and reception! We could not have asked for a better selection of music and style. From the multiple venue locations a...
nd set up spots, down to the timing and scheduling, Chris was always spot on. Chris kept our guests entertained and on the dance floor throughout the entire night, and his selection of vinyl made our night even better.
Starting from the first time we reached out to Chris, he was extremely helpful and always had suggestions for any questions we gave him.
We highly recommend Chris, and love that he was able to add in his own style and character to the music that reflected our wedding perfectly!
"My wife and I hired Chris 'DJ Grok' Donnermeyer for our January wedding in Hood River and he was absolutely amazing! We decided to hire a DJ a little later in the wedding planning...
process, and since we live in Seattle, we were worried we wouldn't find a DJ local to where our wedding was at the Columbia Gorge Hotel & Spa. Sure enough, we found Chris, set up a call and the rest is history. Being that we lived further away, our communication was strictly via email and some on the phone, but that didn't take away from how flexible and easy he was to work with. We had some trouble finding specific songs for dances and processional/recessional, but Chris swooped right in with some awesome suggestions. Leading up to the day-of, he was quick to make last minute changes, had everything set up in a timely fashion and created a smooth flow transitioning between ceremony and reception. Our guests loved him and so did we! Highly recommend hiring him as a DJ for any event you have planned as he is reasonably priced and HE SPINS VINYL! Thank you DJ Grok for making our special day so memorable!!!"
If you're looking for someone easy going, a DJ that can keeps your guests on the floor, and be super flexible- then DJ Grok is your guy!
DJ Grok DJ'ed our wedding reception at Ft....
George Brewer in Astoria, OR. We live out of town so we only communicated via email. I sent a rough time line of our evening's events but it very quickly got off track (I had the timeline too spaced out). JD Grok got and kept the party going. He was super flexible when we needed to switch things around without a hitch. He found an obscure cover song for our first dance, played EVERY SINGLE SONG on our request playlist, he even had a micro phone available and quickly set up for an impromptu song a guest wanted to sing. Lights were great. No complaints and would hire him for any event we have in the area.
Thank you Chris for helping to make our special day even more special, you have a wonderful gift.

ia river, so it was quite windy. DJ Grok was familiar with the venue, and was prepared for the wind. I had guests comment that the audio was great and that they could hear our vows clearly. During the reception, he helped us and our guests keep to our timeline, went with the flow when we asked to add in an unplanned lei presentation, and kept our guests dancing the whole night! He was friendly and professional all throughout the planning process and the event. The questions he asked during planning, and his great work on the day of, really speak to his expertise.
