Hi! I am an April 2024 bride. DJ Jackson was very personable and answered our questions about our wedding reception music. He was also flexible with learning how to host the Shoe Game. For the format/schedule of reception music, DJ Jackson said that he likes to get all activities done prior to an open dance floor. For us, this included grand entrance, first dance, welcome speech, food served, toasts, cake cutting, father-daughter/mother-son dances, special sister dance, Shoe Game, garter/bouquet toss, with the open dance floor being last. A saxophone solo is included in all of his packages as well, which was difficult to fit into our already-packed schedule. When asked if we needed to have a saxophone solo, he stated that it was preferred (understandable as this is his brand, but strange that this was a priority). It seemed like a lot to have done before any dancing, which was a worry of mine. I asked about having an open dancefloor with activities in between. This was not preferred by the DJ and he assured us that the schedule is what has typically worked in the past. We were pretty forthcoming about how important the music was to us. I spent days curating a playlist with "Must Have" songs. The DJ said the playlist would be used as a blueprint, with about 50% of my playlist songs being played. He assured us that he would listen to this playlist and get a feel for the music, assumedly putting the songs together in a way that would make sense during the night. My husband and I were very disappointed when the night came. First, we wanted explicit music, to keep the quality and integrity of some songs that we wanted played. We were surprised to hear the songs had words muted. In particular, this was a shock during one of our main dances. We also stated we wanted a specific song played for the grand entrance for the entire wedding party. He only played this song for the bride and groom entrance. The wedding party entrance songs were chosen at random by the DJ. This was upsetting because we already told our party what song to expect. He also said that he knew how to read the room and the crowd. The crowd and I wanted to dance pretty much after the "special dances" were over. However, the bouquet and garter toss still had to happen as well as the cake cutting. Slow, laidback songs were being played all night. There was no indication of an open dancefloor by the DJ until the last hour of the reception, which sucked. He said that he could mix songs as well, but 95% of the songs were played either completely or halfway through with no sort of mixing to transition to the next song. The other 5% was mixed, but he would transition the song while everyone is hyped on the song that was currently playing. Then, my mother-in-law requested a money dance. He did this, and continued to play slow songs. Our guests thought it was the end of the night and started to leave shortly after his saxophone performance. His reading of the room was off. There was no mixing. The more recent/upbeat/popular/ recent music were not played. The music was censored, despite instructions. Our guests wanted to dance and had to wait until the last hour to do so. I was very disappointed by the performance on our special day. It had me worrying that our guests did not have a good time. Regardless, we still had an amazing and beautiful wedding. We just wanted our guests to have a good time and dance during the reception. This was not achieved during the night.

DJ Jackson from the start of the engagement to the end of the event was absolutely professional. He took our thoughts and request to heart and made a plan that was exceptional. He knew how to work the crowd had the atmosphere party ready and kept it there. Equipment was top Notch. Last but not least he is an excellent musician had me up following him around as he played. No disappointments.

He was one of the biggest highlights of the day! Our wedding was small with about 30 guests, but he knew exactly what to play to keep people on the dance floor throughout the night. Everyone had a great time, and I got so many comments from guests about how great the music was! Our caterer was late and it ended up majorly throwing our timeline off, but he was able to roll with the changing plans. If you want a great DJ for a decent price, definitely hit him up!

Very professional! Great aura about him as well. Darrell listened to our music requests, has a great setup, can kill a sax solo, and feeds energy back into the crowd. We had a great night and he was a huge part of it!
