If you know that the right music will make or break your dancefloor, and you care about the soundtrack of your wedding day, Jay is 100% your guy, no questions asked. My partner and I interviewed about a doze...n DJs in a fairly underwhelming process, ranging from scheduling a 15-minute Calendly call (the worst) to half-hour Zooms focused mostly on price packages (average). Jay is an incredibly personal and friendly guy, and met us for a beer, where we just chatted about music, bonded over favorite artists, and what we imagined our wedding to be like. He cares very much about the fit, and with Jay we found the perfect fit.
Jay was communicative in the months leading up to the wedding, and walked us through a super helpful worksheet that went through every detail - from the MC announcement wording, timing of the ceremony, to music played during the cake cutting. And somehow, we fit all of our requests in - classical piano for my mom, tropical house, indie/folk, Bay Area hip hop... it all somehow magically worked.
Our dance floor was L.I.T. - Jay knows exactly how to read a room and cater music to his audience. We had a packed dance floor for the last two hours of our wedding with the most diverse group of guests (from older aunts/uncles to a bunch of aging millennials reliving our college days) and he got everyone dancing at the same time, which really warmed our hearts.
Finally, Jay is empathetic and can be a really calming presence - he encouraged us to run late on our schedule when dinner was running over and we hadn't gotten a chance to eat, which was a really great reminder for us to take a step back, breathe, and just reflect on the love and joy that permeated the room. He also treated our guests who made requests with kindness, and checked in with us throughout the night. No wedding is perfect, but his skills made us feel like our perfect day was magically accompanied by the perfect soundtrack. And I think that's what every couple wants!
We got a ton of compliments on our wedding afterward, and so many of them were for Jay and the amazing job he did. We're looking forward to wedding-crashing any other weddings or clubs he's performing at, just to get back on that dance floor!
