s so easy, including a form to fill out for all important music for the ceremony and reception, as well as sending him a bunch of songs that we like/wanted played. We had a phone call the week of our wedding, where he made sure he had all important details correct.
Now let's get to the good stuff. DJ MAV kept our party dancing all reception long, which is something we requested from him. Even when dinner was served late he extended our first dance set and no one wanted to leave the dance floor. I had told him that my favorite singer was John Mayer and he found ways to incorporate some John Mayer songs throughout the party when appropriate.
Would 100% recommend DJ MAV to anyone!!

There wasn't one song played that we (and our guests) didn't love. Loren has a some kind of sixth sense when it comes to what to play and when!
The emcee, Jimmy, was fantastic at keeping us aligned to the program all day long and it honestly wouldn't have been the same without him there hyping up the crowd during our reception.
The booth, the lights – everything was absolutely perfect. Beyond what we could have dreamed up. They did so much more than just playing music and announcing the wedding party; they created an atmosphere that is unmatched by any other wedding we've been to. Not being biased because it was our wedding! The guests all said the same!
We didn't originally plan to hire a DJ/emcee. However, after meeting/talking with Mike at our venue's open house, we realized hiring DJ Mav would take a boatload of stress and responsibility off our plates.
And it cost a lot less than we anticipated! We definetly got more than our money's worth - and happily tipped them more than we originally set aside because they were THAT GOOD!

impressed by all of the 5 star reviews and thought this was our choice before even speaking to them. We spoke with Mike (DJ Mav), the owner. His responses to us via email were almost instantaneous and he was very easy to get a hold of. He gave us his cell phone number and we texted him as questions arose and had a long consultation. Being able to get a hold of our DJ easily was very important to us. We were thrilled that Mike was our DJ, which was different from other ‘bait and switch’ djs out there. His online booking platform was easy and fun to use. We just picked the music and traditions we wanted to do, did a review call a week prior and that was it. We did not have to worry about anything! Our guests danced all night long. The dance floor had an incredible energy to it. The dance floor was packed all night and he played all of our requests. One of our friends wanted his contact information to book him for their wedding. We were having so much fun we decided to add an hour of overtime, just 10 minutes before the party would have needed. Not only was Mike the jam, DJ Mav Entertainment provided an extremely user friendly portal where you could make your own playlist, a 'do not play' list (which is equally important), and also add what songs to play for what event (i.e. first dance). Mike definitely played a lot of songs off our playlist but he also threw in songs that aligned with what our "style" was. Needless to say, the dance floor was never empty and we have a ton of videos to prove it was the dance party we've ever thrown. Joe made himself available over Facetime and we knew by the end of our conversation that he was the DJ for us. You can tell he has tons of experience and knows how to do his job in the best way possible to keep everyone happy. We started out the evening late because photos ran long, and we had a full schedule. Joe kept everyone at the reception entertained until we arrived and he knew the schedule that we had all agreed on and did a great job getting us back on track. We were on a very tight budget, so we had picked a venue that let us do everything ourselves. Because we went this route, we really relied on our vendors to come through for us and not rely on us for anything during the reception (so we could enjoy ourselves). Joe did such an excellent job making sure all decisions that he needed our input on were decided before the wedding. Despite our tight budget, we knew we didn't want to skimp on the DJ. got everything we wanted. Meeting with DJ Joe for the first time was wonderful and actually helped me feel more at ease with what was going to happen during the reception. Prior to making the timeline, I was very much overwhelmed with everything. Joe offered wonderful suggestions to items to do that we hadn't really thought about or had thought we didn't want and made them seem fun and worth including. Turns out, he was right and everyone at the reception couldn't have had more fun. We had said from the first meeting with Joe and we wanted it to be a reception where everyone had fun. Mike called me the week before the wedding just to check in. He had all of our information and music choices there with him, but wanted to call to make us feel more comfortable and give us the opportunity to ask questions and make any last minute changes. He was very professional and personable. On the day of our wedding, he had some set up challenges because he was setting up in the space where we just had had our ceremony, so he had a very specific time window to get everything accomplished so that he was ready to go in time for dinner. There were no problems. In fact, he was a great help with little things you don't think about, like letting people know we were cutting the cake, or quieting the music so that we could pray. He was very on top of things - responsive- that way.
We also chose DJ Mav Entertainment because they have backups in place for everything. Originally we were going to have a friend help us, and then there was this "what if?" in the back of my mind. Unlikely, but what if some emergency happened on that day for them and then we're sitting there with no music when we had planned for hours of dancing. They have backup DJ's on call, backup equipment on call, and so on. So there was zero chance of us being stuck without one of the most important parts of our reception. The peace of mind was worth the price difference.
Speaking of price, they were pretty reasonable. At the time that we signed the contract, it felt a little pricey (just the DJ industry in general) but after the wedding evening, I can see all of the ways that they made our day awesome and it was worth it!

As far as the wedding day goes, our DJ Mike took control over the day using the microphone to help inform people of what was going on, helping guide them as to what we were doing next, and again just letting me have a good time while he made sure everything ran smoothly. He was also incredibly flexible. When things didn't go according to plan, he made things work.
We had a LOT of compliments the next day at the gift opening on what a good job the DJ did. People were on the dance floor all night. That says a lot when you have not only younger people saying they loved the DJ but older relatives as well.
The up-lighting: Well, it was worth every penny in my opinion. It changed the room from ok to fabulous. Dj Mav Entertainment was not the least expensive DJ out there, they were not the most expensive either. Music is such a big part of the day, and in my opinion they were worth every penny.

I am notoriously finicky about music and I told him from the first day that it was in my Top 3 Wedding Must-Haves (food+booze+music=victory).
