DJ Nixxx is absolutely incredible. I saw him DJ & Direct a wedding 6 years ago and saved his contact information in my brain for whenever it was that I'd meet my future husband- and I did both! He was THAT good.
Services: He offers either DJ'i...ng alone, or DJ/Directing Services- I thought we'd just go for the DJ alone but what he offers with both was hard to pass up. Honestly, he doesn't charge enough for what he did and he should raise his prices but I digress on that- we tipped him big.
Leading up to the wedding: He got on multiple calls with us, took our feedback, desires and ideas, and planned not only a killer playlist but every little detail of when and where things needed to happen. He walked me through the bits I had absolutely no clue about, had great suggestions, and was so kind, easygoing, and helpful throughout the whole planning process.
4 Days Before: DISASTER! A hurricane was heading our way and threatening a year's worth of planning for an open air/ open barn wedding. We had to change EVERYTHING at the last minute and you know who was the calming force aside from my sweet sweet soon to be husband? My mom! lol, JK, definitely not, it was our Director and DJ Nixxx, Nick. He was so good to me (us) and took so much time to calm me down, reassure me, and switch direction without a second thought.
Day before/Rehearsal Dinner: It was cold, it was rainy, it was windy. At least 1/3 of our guests had to cancel DAY BEFORE because of the storm. We were supposed to have Pizza and Ice Cream and switched it out to Pizza & Booze, and invited everyone who made it into town. (90% of our guests had to travel as we had just moved out of state the year earlier.) So, we dipped into the wine and beer a little early, and you know who has a surprisingly loud voice? Yeah, DJ Nick! He was able to corral a bunch of hyped up, slightly inebriated whackos and form us into lines, give directions we could understand and complete, and get us fully prepared for the next day. He was super entertaining with the crowd of enjoyers and it made me feel that despite the fact that tarps were flapping in the 40 mph winds and we literally had to cut down large trees for enough weight to hold the bottoms in place, the wedding would be enjoyable.
Day Of: We couldn't have done it without him. We had actually let him give us dates he was available in our desired month and picked one of those when we were initially planning. (Again, yes, as an onlooker at another person't wedding he directed/dj'ed for, he's that good.) He showed up early, kept everything moving throughout the day, adjusted when someone was late (hi, that's me, I'm the problem), and got everyone in their places and knowing their cues. The ceremony and reception were perfect (ok, aside from the weather), and he was so entertaining, so on point, and just absolutely the best through the entire thing. He had also encouraged us (in planning) to have a 'last dance', which I had never heard of. It was a moment for my new husband and I to just soak up the place, the night, and our union with a dance meant just for us, while our guests for prepped for our exit. It was one of my favorite parts of the night. Our guests complimented him to us so many times that day as well as throughout the next few. We still get "that dj was awesome" when we're talking about the wedding with people.
So, in summary. Book him fast, book him now, and you're welcome. He was truly phenomenal and I shudder to think what the experience would have been like with someone else. I can't wait to have an anniversary party in a few years (in the intended barn) and hire him again.
