simply the best. We had our wedding planner highly recommend them and we were not disappointed. Our guest were blown away with the food and there were so many good options to choose from. I have to say, we put off a caterer as its a daunting task and most of the budget depends on it, but it was so easy to work with Doug and his team. We appreciate all the backend work that went into our day as we had our wedding in a museum - but it went off without a hitch thanks to their expertise. I must say, opt for the full bar option, you will not be disappointed! Thank you all!

He was readily accessible and responsive, and accommodated our numerous personal requests - from adding empanadas and watermelon refreshers to our menu to serving lychee martinis as one of our signature drinks. Doug made sure that he and his team delivered whatever was necessary to bring our dream wedding to life! The day of our wedding couldn't have been more perfect! We chose a buffet style dinner and were so impressed that Doug's team was able to serve our ~150 guests in less than 15 minutes! Not only is DJ's efficient, their food is also stellar. We topped off our night with a churro dessert bar, which was a huge hit! Till this day, our guests still rave about Doug's team and how amazing the food tasted.

Doug also ensured that all of our specific needs were met and was absolutely amazing to work with. The fact that they offer event rentals on top of catering is not only convenient, but ensured that the entire setup and breakdown process went as smoothly as possible. Our team of bartenders and servers was extremely polite and attentive and checked in with my husband and me throughout the evening to ensure that everything was running smoothly and to see if we needed anything. We had brought a special sour beer for my husband and me to drink during the wedding speeches and the bartender remembered this little detail and secretly brought it over to us. We were so grateful that he remembered, because amongst all of the excitement, we certainly didn’t! As far as appetizers, the mini quesadillas were a huge hit and of course the open bar with the added craft beers went over really well. They offer lots of different options for the open bar that helped us stay within our budget. All the staff on the day of the event were very professional as well and the caterer even sent the groom and I home with to go boxes! The only thing was that I forgot to ask them to save the sugar flowers from my wedding cake and those were thrown out when it was cut. Make sure to communicate! I also assumed that they would leave cake for the bride and groom on the head table as they had done for dinner when they plated it for us, but by the time we both thought of it and broke away from the dance floor all the cake was gone and the ice cream was put away. Otherwise, they did a phenomenal job and everyone loved it.

nd we got so much for what we paid! We opted for their beautiful wine barrel served buffet tables, which were stunning! They provided us with everything necessary for our catering needs including non-alcoholic beverages, cloth napkins, and stainless silverware. We had a backyard wedding with a pool and couldn’t have any glass present, so they were happy to provide us with biodegradable palm leaf plates and plastic glasses. Further, they provided tables and chairs, a dance floor, space heaters, tables for our guest table and DJ, tablecloths (they have a wide range of colors and fabrics), and trash cans. Best part of all, they hauled away all the trash at the end of the night so my family wouldn’t have to deal with it! They even have other vendors that they work with if you want other services like table and chair upgrades, tents, etc. As for the food, we loved everything! They provided us with a delightful, complimentary tasting at their location in the cutest wedding decorated room. Afterwards, we had our first official meeting in their charming conference room, where they went over all our options and gladly worked with us to suit our needs. Service was splendid! They even provided passed hor d’oeuvres during cocktail hour. We were on a budget and couldn’t do a plated dinner, but didn’t want a casual serve-yourself buffet, so they provided servers at the buffet to meet both ideas in the middle. This was especially nice since one of our three entrees was a cut to order wood fired prime angus tri tip. The thing we loved most was that they provided us with bartenders as well, even though we provided our own alcohol. Let me tell you, DJ’s is going to save you so much time and money since they provide so many more services than amazing catering and you will not be disappointed!

They were our one-stop shop and so they took care of all tableware, tables, cloths, bartending services (we were able to supply our own alcohol!!) and, of course, food! (!) WHAT WE GOT: Hors d'oeuvres: Ahi Tuba Poke on a Wonton Crisp; Sea Scallops wrapped with Bacon; Petite Mango and Avocado Baskets // Everything here was amazing--all three were solid choices and I still remember them to this day! Buffet Entrees: Grilled Angus Tri-Tip; Grilled Tilapia; Three Cheese Macaroni; Penne Mozzarella Pasta; Rustica Salad // The tri-tip!! So perfect and so tender. The three cheese macaroni deserves all the praise everyone else gave it. And the rustic salad--the delicious dressing paired so well with the smoked apples and gouda! Late Night Snacks: Kahlua Pork Sliders; Mini California Dog // Our guests loved these--and I'd give the edge to the mini California dog! (!) SERVICE: Amazing in every sense. Our tables and napkins looked picture-perfect. We're also happy that we were actually able to eat and enjoy our wedding food! DJ's staff worked with our coordinators and served us hors d'oeuvres after our ceremony. They also prepared plates for us for our entrees when the time came... and they even constantly checked up on us in case we needed anything! We literally wanted for nothing. (!) TIDBITS: Our tasting day was an experience in itself! We drove out to Ventura the morning after we landed in LAX and we were treated very well by Alexandra. Her refreshing positivity and hospitality made us feel energized again! She and Doug were also very clear in explaining everything and in making sure everything was good to go. Seriously hoping one of our friends gets married in Malibu too... and hoping they pick DJ's so we can have that tri-tip again!

Doug's prices were also very reasonable and competitive. We've been to a few weddings where the food was sub-par, so we wanted to make food one of our priorities. We also wanted to make sure he would allow us to serve roasted pig (which is a part of my culture), and he made it happen! He included that with our buffet table so long as we provided the pig. To this day, people raved about the drinks and food at our wedding, and we couldn't have been happier. Open bar was a MUST at our wedding, and instead of opting for full bar services, we supplied our own alcohol and had pre-made drinks. No regrets! All in all, his bar and wait staff did a phenomenal job serving 230+ guests. You can tell he's been in the business for a really long time, and loves doing it. He will make sure that everything is perfect for your wedding day/event, and more. If you're looking for great food, rental options, and bar services, this is your guy. Our tasting was free and fed us like crazy - we were stuffed and had a great idea of what the menu was going to taste like. We couldn't stress enough how much we loved working with DJ's. They had a great price and were SUPER accommodating. We even had a cancellation two weeks before the wedding and they were able to adjust the numbers.

DJ’s not only catered some of the best wedding food I’ve ever had, they also did ALL of the setup and breakdown for both the ceremony and reception. We also had them host our bar and that went smoothly and efficiently as well. Doug helped us with the planning process and tasting. He was super helpful and easy to work with, as were all of the DJ’s crew that helped the day of our wedding.
