Michael from DJs for Lovers was absolutely incredible and a key part of making our wedding run so smoothly and feel so special. He was not only a fantastic DJ, but also an on-point emcee—keeping the evening on schedule, making announcements at just the right times, and even letting guests know when the wedding shuttle was about to depart (a detail we really appreciated!). He was also wonderfully patient with us in the weeks leading up to the big day, giving us the space we needed to finalize our song list amidst the chaos of wedding planning. When the day came, he executed every pre-selected song choice flawlessly, and where we left things more open-ended (like for cocktail hour), he absolutely nailed the vibe. Michael came fully prepared with wireless mics for the ceremony, uplighting, and all necessary equipment, and he arrived early to get everything set up seamlessly. He was extremely professional, and his attention to detail was unmatched—especially when it came to honoring our “do not play” list. He even double-checked with us about songs that were similar in tone or style to be sure they aligned with our preferences. We’re so happy we chose Michael. He went above and beyond, and we can’t recommend him and DJs for Lovers enough!

We worked with DJ Michael for our wedding, and he was both awesome and a lot of fun. My husband and I met playing an online game and being giant nerds is a big part of who we are, so we wanted to use a lot of video game music for various things with our ceremony and reception. Michael was genuinely enthusiastic about the idea and put together a great nerdy prelude playlist to go with the specific songs we’d chosen for the processionals. The music he played for dancing at the reception was also exactly what we were thinking of, and we had a fantastic time dancing and singing along with our friends. Michael was so helpful and easy to work with through the whole process, and he even came to our rehearsal so we could practice with music, which I’d never heard of a DJ doing before. Music can help make or break a ceremony and especially a reception, so we’re so happy we picked Michael for that!

Michael was AMAZING for our wedding and I can't recommend him enough!!! He was extremely flexible, communicative, and made sure that we were always on the same page. The music was very important to me and I am so pleased with how well Michael executed it. He made sure to include the songs/artists that we wanted to hear, but also added some more mainstream music to please the crowd. All of our guests have gone on and on about how perfect the music was - the majority of the attendees were on the dance floor the entire night! On top of that, my dad is a former DJ and Michael was kind enough to let him DJ a few of the songs during the night, which was so fun and my dad was so excited about it. We are so thankful to have met Michael and anyone would be so lucky to have him as their DJ! Thank you, Michael!! :)

Michael worked with us four wedding and we are SO thankful we booked him! He took the time to get to know my husband and I by staying in constant contact through email, text and phone conferences. He went above and beyond making sure we had the right playlist put together from the reception to the ceremony and everything in between! Even the more obscure songs we requested (bagpipe metal covers) he had ready to go for our big day. He even had all of the audio equipment needed for our ceremony, we wanted a cordless set up for the pictures and he had everything set up right on time! I wish all of my vendors were as easy to work with as Michael and I can’t recommend his services enough!

DJ Mike is awesome! He took us through the whole process with great flexibility and past expertise. Look forward to his questionnaire to get a sense of your music. During the actual reception, there were no complaints and the music and energy flowed organically but still within our guidelines. They also have excellent equipment we were able to use for our ceremony and to make announcements at an outside cocktail hour.

Working with Michael was great! He made everything super easy and laid back. There was ample communication leading up to our wedding day and he took all of our song choices to create great playlists. He took care of all the music for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ for our big day!

We honestly can’t say enough good things about our wedding DJ Michael. Outside of my coordinator he reached out to us more than any vendor in the planning process just to make sure we were doing okay which just absolutely put us at ease. You can tell he loves what he does and just brought such a fantastic energy to our evening. I would not hesitate to have him as a DJ for any event you are planning. Thank you so much to Michael!

Mike was an absolute pro who helped us craft our playlist, figured out what the perfect balance of cultural and fun was, and then adapted on the fly during the reception to match the audience's energy. We didn't stop dancing the entire night thanks to him and he even came to our rehearsal to do a sound check. Would absolutely recommend him to do your weddings!

Mike just DJ'd our wedding this past weekend and I am so glad he was recommended to us! He listened to all of our requests and made sure that everyone was dancing during our wedding. Michael of DJs for Lovers was an absolute joy to work with. From the moment we put an inquiry in to the actual wedding day, Michael was nothing short of absolutely amazing! His music expertise really helped to create our perfect wedding playlist, from sending suggestions and playlists alike, and everything came together beautifully. We cannot thank him enough for everything he did to help during the planning process, and for making the wedding day so special. Our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without Michael, and we are so lucky to have had the chance to work with him!!!

We had a fantastic experience working with Michael! Having a fun dance party was really important to my fiance and me, and our expectations were completely blown away. We had so many compliments from our guests on the music and emceeing, and it was clear from the number of guests on the dance floor that everyone had an amazing time! Michael was with us each step of the way to help guide decisions when we needed help, or to just roll with our vision when we were clear on what we wanted. He was responsive, professional, executed on our plan exactly as requested, and had a really positive, supportive energy. We have zero complaints and would definitely recommend using Michael!

Mike was great, but I feel like everything from our last phone meeting went ignored (approximately a week before the wedding).. During the reception he totally forgot the Mother/Son dance with my husband and his mom. He played the wrong version of our first dance (we had come up with choreography for the correct version so we were dancing a little awkwardly for a minute before just rolling with it), and then forgot to play one song my husband had specifically requested for the reception. My last "gripe" would be Mike's demeanor when we were doing the line up. During the last phone meeting we told him that the Best Man is dating one of the bridesmaids and that it would be nice if they were welcomed together rather than having him walk in with the Maid Of Honor. When we reminded him of this the day of, his reply seemed rather irritated as he said "look, I know this is your day, but could we just do it like this?" We were taken back a bit, but just rolled with it. All around our guests did seem to really enjoy the ceremony and reception, it was just a bit disappointing having little details (especially the Mother/Son dance that I know would have meant a lot to my mother in law) totally ignored.

Michael was a fantastic person to work with! I'm a very Type A planner and Michael made me feel so comfortable from the start by asking detailed questions and even assisting us with our timeline in emails and check ins well before the wedding. He went above and beyond as a DJ, with great suggestions for timing and assistance the day of keeping everything on track. He even helped announce our grand entrance even though it was technically before his contract time started. We love rock and 80s power ballads - which are not always the most mainstream - but Michael did an amazing job of balancing our favorites with popular hits that kept everyone dancing all night. We got so many comments that the music was great, and I can't thank Michael enough and I highly recommend him for any event!

Mike was absolutely awesome! He met with me multiple times prior to the ceremony and reception and he really made sure that we were on the same page about the music choices. He incorporated our music styles and made it flow seamlessly. He kept people engaged with dancing and helped everyone relax and have fun. I would absolutely hire him again for future events.

Mike was AMAZING! He came to the rehearsal to nail down the timing, which most DJs wont. He walked me through the timing and song choices to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted from his services. He was very friendly and had a go with the flow personality, which was perfect for all of our last minute changes. Our wedding wouldn't have been the same without him!!

Michael was a great DJ and really made the wedding planning on the music front very simple.. He was not over the top with the announcements and kept everything very professional.

Mike was such a great asset to our wedding. He made sure he understood what we wanted and what we didn't. He came to the rehearsal so we could practice with the music and double-check the start times for the ceremony music. He had people on the dance floor within the first few songs at the reception. He made the night a blast and coordinated with our photographers to keep everything on track. 10/10 would recommend.

Alex was wonderful to work with. He scheduled an informational call with me as soon as I reached out, and I got great vibes from him right off the bat. We had another call about a month before my event where we went through all of my song selections, timeline and a few special requests I had for him. He was super accommodating - even when he learned he’d need to completely move his set up between the ceremony and the reception. Without missing a beat, he said he could do it and offered to bring on his business partner, Michael, to help him for the first part of the evening so the move would be quick. Alex and Michael arrived right on time, got set up quickly, hit their song cues perfectly during the ceremony and then got re-set up before anyone even noticed there was a break in the music. It was clear that they are both true professionals. After the ceremony, Alex transitioned seamlessly into the role of emcee for our entrance, dances, cake cutting and toasts, and then back to DJ to get the dance floor going after the formalities wrapped. Alex had a great read on our guests’ energy and played a great mix of music to appeal to every age group in the crowd. I’m pretty sure every single guest was on the dance floor at some point the night - even my 91-year-old grandmother couldn’t resist dancing to Sweet Caroline. Throw some Lizzo and Britney Spears into the mix and we had ourselves a party! Alex is really fantastic at what he does, not to mention very fairly priced. I’d highly recommend his services to any couple!

Where do I even start...if I could give him 10 stars I would. He exceeded our expectations of what a DJ could provide. To start, an acquaintance referred his services to us for our family reunion. We had never hosted an event of this size and we were anxious, to say the least. Upon our first conversation, he was excited, flexible to our requests, and also was very easy to work with leading up to the event. Michael absolutely KILLED IT!!! His playlist was perfect and he was cool as a cucumber when a beloved, tipsy family member took over the mic. His song choices were perfect and he even joined us on the dance floor! The bottom line is you will not be disappointed and we will use him for our future Richmond events.

We were so happy with our decision to have Mike DJ our wedding! He did an amazing job throughout the whole wedding and the guests had a great time. His music choices were spot on and included a variety of music that everyone enjoyed. In the weeks leading up to our wedding, Mike was so helpful and really helped us figure out what we wanted at our wedding.

I was one of the Corona brides who ended up making the painful decision to just cancel the wedding, so unfortunately I never got the chance to hear what wonderful music Alex would have picked for us, but I'm here to sing the praises of him just being a great person. He was wonderful to work with through the entire booking process, was patient with us when we decided to rebook the wedding to a new date, and then was so heartfelt and supportive when we ultimately decided to cancel the wedding. He is absolutely the kind of person you want on your side for your big day!

Alex was great to work with! We had to make quite a few dramatic changes to our wedding due to COVID and Alex was so helpful while making those changes. We only had 13 guests at our wedding but he kept the energy up the whole time, all of our guests kept saying how much they loved the music at the ceremony and reception! Want your wedding guests on the dance floor all night? Hire Michael! We hired Michael to DJ and MC our ceremony and reception. We met with him several times to iron out details, and he had suggestions for us when we weren’t sure. He took detailed notes. Everything went perfectly on our wedding day! He perfectly timed the music for our ceremony, and mic’ed the officiant and readers. The reception was the absolute best. Our dance floor was packed from beginning to end! He kept the night flowing by MCing and working closely with the day of coordinator. I can not recommend Michael enough! He is fun, professional, great at what he does, and is reasonably priced.

Alex was very easy to work with and accommodating. Coordinating our playlist was mostly fine (a couple moments in the ceremony we needed to request a song skip). His presence at our wedding was very warm and down to earth.

Michael Murphy was an absolute dream to work with! He was so easy to communicate with, very professional and easygoing. When we met to discuss the timeline of our reception and what kinds of music we like, I knew we were in great hands. He took a full page of notes on our musical likes and dislikes. I don’t think I can express how happy I am tat my husband and I chose DJ for Lovers as our wedding DJ. Michael Murphy was such a pleasure to work with and made the planning process a breeze. He came to venue meetings and he really listened to what we wanted. The ceremony music was well timed and everything was very smooth. Our wedding reception was an absolute blast! Mike made sure he played our preferences while also reading the crowd. It was because of him the party went all the way to last call! Michael is SO wonderful. Let me start by saying that one of our top priorities for our wedding was an amazing DJ, as we wanted it to be a super fun celebration. I talked to three different DJs during my search and was pretty nervous at first about picking a DJ because I wanted them to be the best. After speaking to Michael, it was evident he was the best choice. He is professional, kind, responsive, & accommodating (I got all of this from the first call). While getting closer to the wedding date, he was excellent with communication. For the day of our wedding, I had very high expectations for a DJ, but believe me when I say DJ Michael truly exceeded them all!! My dance floor was packed the whole time!! He knows how to read the crowd and picked wonderful tunes, especially playing what we requested him to play and he didn’t play the songs we had asked him not to. Honestly, I have had so many people telling me how wonderful & fun my DJ was!! I feel truly grateful to have been able to work with him.. what a pleasure! He is a real gem in the DJ industry & I will always recommend him to friends/ family getting married. Thank you so much, Michael!!!

If we could give Mike Murphy 100 stars we would! We met Mike at another wedding and thought that he did a marvelous job DJing their wedding, and once we got engaged he was one of the first vendors we booked. Mike worked closely with us from day one, making sure everything that we wanted happened on his end. He literally did everything perfectly, exceeded our expectations and more. Our wedding date was also his birthday, and he was so happy to work on his birthday. Our friends and family couldn't stop raving about how good of a job he did DJing our wedding, and now they all wish they had a dj that good at their own weddings. My husband and I really enjoyed working with him. If you're looking for someone who will respond back quickly to you, who's affordable, play all of your requested songs, meet up with you at your convenience, and exceed all of your expectations, then you need to book Mike RIGHT NOW before someone else does!! We can't thank him enough for doing a perfect job at our wedding!!

Michael Murphy is awesome and one of the best DJs. He made our ceremony and wedding perfect and memorable. He was so professional, kind and accommodating and came to the wedding venue ahead of time to get a feel for the space as well as our rehearsal to ensure all went flawless, IT DID! He gave spot on music recommendations for ceremony and kept everyone on the dancefloor all night long as his music and energy are incredible. Holy moly!! I hired Alex to DJ our September 2018 wedding reception and I could not have been happier with the result!!! Alex has been doing this for decades and has amassed an extensive knowledge of music, wedding receptions, and exactly how to incorporate the two! Also, he is extremely personable and just an all around cool guy. Leading up to the big day, he made time for two in-person meetings to introduce himself and talk through details. He knows just what to play for every moment - from cocktail hour to dinner to dance party! And it was always clear that he wanted to do/play whatever would make the bride and groom happiest!! His pricing is VERY fair considering his talent and experience level. If you want your guests to have fun, then you will not regret going with DJs for Lovers!!

Michael was awesome! He was very thorough in making sure he tailored to the music that we wanted. He also made it to the rehearsal night and at some point, I verbalized feeling overwhelmed, and Michael reassured me that everything would work out. He did a great job considering we had many ceremonies from our culture, and every time I glanced at him, he was focused on us and the mood of the party. He was super easy to work with - in planning, he knew when to provide some guidance and recommendations, but left us with plenty of room for us to make our own decisions. The vendor was wonderful, punctual, extremely prepared, and did a great job. We were all dancing and I had an amazing time. It was nice he took over the announcements and I was very happy with his service my only hold back from giving a full 5 stars is I didn’t hear many of the songs that I gave him when making a list of songs I wanted too. I’m sure he was more so gauging the crowd though. Also he didn’t necessarily do a good job at stopping or quieting down music and getting everyone’s attention for cake cutting and the bouquet toss. I felt like no one was watching us cut the cake and only knew it was time to do it because I heard the song we picked for it playing. But don’t let these things keep you from booking him. He was very helpful and worked with us especially because we were planning the wedding from a state away. And he did a beautiful job. The day was amazing!!!

Alex was the DJ that my daughter and her fiance selected for their October 2017 wedding at the Columns at Six Penny Farm in McGaheysville Va. Alex traveled from Richmond, arrived early to set up the sound system for the outside ceremony. I had guests tell me later that it was the first time they could hear the vows at an outside wedding! Then on the reception hall where Alex served as announcer and DJ for almost 6 hours. He worked on the diverse playlist with the bride and groom and was responsive to questions. Guests, young and old, stayed on the dance floor the entire time following dinner and toasts. We had a great day! He was flexible, professional and friendly to everyone. Alex was absolutely incredible!! So easy to work with and played amazing music! If a song wasn't a hit by the guests, he immediately changed it to bring people back to the dance floor! Our guests all commented on how awesome our DJ was too! I highly recommend Alex!!!

Alex was amazing! He did EXACTLY what we asked him to do: keep the dance partying going. He didn't try to MC the wedding, and he knew how to mix songs really well. There was never a dull moment on the dance floor, and our guests constantly tell us it was one of the best dance parties they have ever been to. We really enjoyed working with this company :)
