What an amazing experience getting our wedding dance choreographed and taught by Desiree! She was extremely professional but friendly and fun to work with -- it felt like we were all friends practicing to dance by the end. My partner was very nervous in the beginning... he has rhythm but no prior dance experience. Desiree was able to very quickly assess our dance level and give us a dance that was challenging but appropriate. Honestly, I'm stoked about the final result. There is a lot of footwork, movement around the room, multiple lifts, and great use of music (and it was a challenging song to waltz to). We had 6 45-min classes total, including the introductory lesson (assessing our level + learning a few basic steps) and 1 class dedicated to 'clean up' (adjusting our hands, feet, etc so that we are picture perfect). We ended up with a routine ~2:45mins. It was just such a special experience having these private lessons and ending up with something completely unique and custom to us for our wedding. Every Saturday felt like a 'date night' where we always had this thing to look forward to... and something we could do together during the weekdays when we needed to practice. ...There's just something about having to dance and look into each other's eyes that makes it feel so much more connected!

The wedding dance was so important to me. I had high expectations and Desiree not only met but exceeded them both for me and my fiance but also me and my dad. She is patient, kind, supportive, and provides levity when the stress settles in close to the big day. Desiree was flexible with her schedule and made it work for our hectic lives. We are so excited to do our dance at the end of the month it will make the wedding so special and make us look groovy on all dance floors going forward. We will definitely be signing up for more lessons because it's that fun!

Desiree was such a pleasure to work with! We're a lesbian couple and Desiree made us feel super comfortable when coming up with a choreographed first dance routine for our wedding. We had 6 lessons in total which was plenty of time for us to get the routine down and have Desiree help clean it up. She was super patient, friendly, approachable, worked quickly, and just an all around great instructor. She made sure we felt good about our dance and confident going into our wedding.

Desiree is an amazing dance instructor. She's patient, encouraging, and finished a first dance dance routine for my fiance and I in 4 lessons. She gave very helpful tips throughout each lesson, and made sure that we were going at a comfortable pace before moving on to the next set of routine. We are so grateful for having Desiree as our dance instructor, and we're so excited to show off the routine at the wedding!

Desiree was a fantastic dance instructor! My (now) husband and I are totally beginners when it comes to choreographed dancing, and the lessons seemed very intimidating at the start. By the end of our full four lessons with Desiree, though, we felt very confident in the dance that Desiree choreographed for us. Of course, we had to practice the dance moves on our own time between classes, but overall she did a wonderful job keeping the difficulty at an appropriate level for us, while also mixing in some "relatively easy, but flashy" moves that ended up drawing the applause we were looking for from our wedding guests. We're really happy we went the route of formal instruction for our choreographed wedding dance, and we would definitely do it all again with Desiree!

We started working with Desiree back in the beginning of 2020 for our original wedding date in April of that year. Due to the pandemic we had to change many things related to our plan, but through it all Desiree was extremely flexible and willing to work with our new schedule, as things were constantly changing for a year and a half. My wife does ballet regularly and I have never taken a dance class in my life, but she is more than willing to help you where you are at and come up with a dance that fits you as a couple. Our dance went over extremely well and I had family members coming up to us saying they never knew I could dance. I attribute all of that to Desiree's support and encouragement. I would highly recommend her to any of my friends or family and for anyone reading this review! Whether you have been dancing your whole life or are brand new, she will sit with you and come up with a great plan. We really appreciated her support through all the wedding plan changes. Desiree is an amazing person and dancer! She is super personable and will tailor your special dances to YOU. We chose our song and was hoping for a more relaxed waltz style that will represent our personalities and Desiree choreographed the perfect dance for us and all of our guests loved our first dance. We seemed so natural even though we are "terrible" dancers. It only took 5 lessons. Thank you Desiree for helping make our day so special and memorable!

Desiree is a great dancer and teacher! She choreographs effortlessly and is good at adjusting the difficulty as needed by our comfort and energy levels (too tired to learn more, pushing for more etc). You can tell she is passionate about teaching dance and genuinely cares for making your wedding dance look great. She gave great tips for potential mistakes and strategies on practicing as well. 100% recommend!

My partner and I have no dancing experience, but a less than a month before our July 2021 wedding, we decided to take dance lessons for our first dance. In the beginning, I dreaded taking these lessons because I know my partner and I are both awkward dancers! But thanks to Desiree, our dance lessons ended up being one of the most fun projects my partner and I did for the wedding! That’s because Desiree is wonderful - she is kind, energetic and makes the whole process fun and not intimidating. Desiree helped us pick our first dance out of 3-4 song options we showed her, and we really appreciated her feedback on what type of dance would go with each song and the amount of work required for that dance. Desiree broke the dance down into digestible chunks that she taught us each session, that she videotaped at the end of the session, and that we were then able to work on at home (with the help of the video). Desiree wound up pushing our limits by the end of it, and for that we were grateful — the dance was challenging enough to make us look like we knew what we’re doing! On the last session, Desiree gave us confidence by giving us tips on how to look more at ease while dancing and what to do if we forget a dance move on the big day. In the end, my partner and I nailed our routine and all of our guests commented how amazing it was! We felt confident and we knew we made Desiree proud that we made it through it. We even went to another wedding a few weeks after ours, and did some of the same dance moves. Desiree didn’t just teach us how to dance for our wedding, but also how to be more comfortable on the dance floor in general! Thank you Desiree for making our wedding first dance so special <3

Don't think twice about it, you need Desiree May to coordinate your first dance at your wedding - or any dance for that matter. Believe the reviews, she's incredible. She listens to you and understands what you want to get out of your dance. She checks in constantly to make sure that her pace is in line with your skill level and style. She is flexible in her scheduling and will go out of her way to make her schedule fit yours. Above all, she is so sweet and such a wonderful person. All of our guests at the wedding commented on how they didn't know we had "moves." We don't, but Desiree May allowed us to fake it for 2 minutes and 30 seconds and that's all we needed. We even used one of the dips Desiree taught us to sneak in a surprise dip for our first kiss! THANK YOU SO MUCH, DESIREE, for such an unforgettable first dance!

I cannot recommend DMP Online Dance Tutorials enough!!! <3 My partner and I LOVED how clear and easy the video tutorials were, and we were able to practice in our own home. Not only was this great during the pandemic, but even when the pandemic is over this service will be super accessible and a time-saver (no need to sit through traffic and drive to a studio to practice) for all couples. My partner and I weren’t sure how we would be able to safely meet with a choreographer in the middle of a pandemic. Fortunately we were referred by a good friend to try this platform out. We selected from a variety of tutorials and choreographed pieces for our special day! We loved the video instructions and run throughs it offered (perfect for visual learners). The best part is that we could learn on our own schedule in our own home!! Total game changer!
