Joel with Document The Wedding provided straight-to-the-point videography services for our wedding. He is highly technical, deeply knowledgeable, and completely upfront about deliverables and expectations. A heads-up for future couples: Joel is incredibly passionate about his craft and loves to thoroughly explain his process, so be prepared to sit down and talk with him for a couple hours. We appreciated how thorough he was because it meant all the technical logistics were accounted for.
He delivered exactly what we ordered, including three physical Blu-ray discs that looks straight out of the '90s—but that specific retro format is exactly why we went with him. On the day of the wedding, he was organized and punctual. He was professional and able to adapt on the fly whenever the photographer needed him to adjust to keep her shots clear. If you are looking for a highly technical videographer who delivers a classic product, Joel gets the job done.

in a lurch. Joel is dependable and cares, and that's what we could immediately see through his work and his detailed, intricate process. Day-of, he showed up early (every couple's dream) and captured so many moments we would have otherwise never gotten to witness on our special day. His documentary style provided us with complete (not clipped) memories of our beautiful ceremony, first dance, etc. So special. There were definitely some tears shed throughout the family when we watched it back! Joel was a professional and worked great with our photographer, which was booked through another company. Speaking of professional, his scheduling was perfect, allowing enough time to set up his equipment, capture our first look, and be ceremony-ready. Following our big day, he stayed in touch regularly to update us on his progress, and he delivered us all the footage around 1 week later (extremely quick, especially considering this was over Thanksgiving!). Again, Joel really cares, and what more could a bride and groom hope from their videographer? Can't wait to show our future kids these memories one day. Thank you, Joel, for everything!

As you own the copyrights, you can elect to have it on my web site for friends and family to watch without streaming or downloading. Joel before COVID times, and the month before our wedding, we consulted with him. He adjusted his shooting practices a little to keep himself safe while at weddings, and was very transparent with us that he couldn't guarantee our final product if our guests weren't safe and wearing masks. We were a little anxious about that and were going to cancel altogether but Joel actually offered to set us up with some other videographer he knew who would be able to suit our needs a little better and on short notice.
Even after all that, he sent a picture of our ripped up retainer check. Joel is an interesting guy who just wants to help out however he can, and he showed us that through great attitude and honesty during these crazy times. I would highly recommend working with him.

nd church officials advised weddings had to be no more than 10 in the church, presider and happy couple included, and no reception. Grandma at age 92 and the other out of town and local guest could not travel to Galveston. In the midst of this we scrambled for a videographer so we could send a delayed broadcast to those in lockdown. I contacted Joel and his guidance and technical advice was golden. He followed up daily in the run up to make sure the wedding would be captured on film. His approach was true compassionate and professionalism and giving, long after we mutually determined that logistics and lock down dictated (and fortuitous luck enabled) sourcing at the last minute a Galveston based videographer. In fact Joel had even offered for me to borrow his hi-def camera so I could shoot the wedding myself when it appeared I had no options. Joel cared that we got the moment captured, documentary style, hi-def, so we could share the memories with those in lock-down at home. It mattered not he was not to do the job. I am truly appreciative of his efforts, a simple yet great example of people extending human courtesy in time of tumult. Thank you, Joel!

Up until that point the church did not allow a videographer even if we came, set up, left and returned later to get the equipment. I was prepared to loan you one of my cameras to operate. In these times, it is all about the 'giveaway'. The important thing is you have something to remember your special event. It matters not how it was created.

However, I did not find out until after the wedding that the shot of the side with the circular driveway was not the side of the venue considered the 'front'.

0 to 120 minutes, pictures from the video frames suitable for smart phones and social media have been a popular 'deliverable' as well especially texted by 6 am the night of the wedding. They are not a substitute for the photographer's pictures though.

actions and what I will do. In fact, I hand out a very detailed multi-page document that among other things details how I interact and what the options are.
I did not receive any specific instructions about our interaction. My job is to be present at the wedding and not be noticed or part of it; however, to document the wedding, I need to co-reside 'where the action is'. We never interacted at all during the wedding except for the one time you asked me to not capture the action at the photo session following the ceremony (which I honored). I also stayed away from the bridal suite before the ceremony per your request.
When I was told by the photographer before the ceremony of the your wishes, I made a concerted effort to not be noticed for the rest of the wedding. In fact, I had absolutely no interaction with either of you until you were about to leave at the end of the wedding.
So I do agree with your final statement about the need to customize our interaction even at the wedding itself as I tend to be very responsive to requests. However, there must be a minimum of movement and co-location though to capture and document the action especially at the reception.
