ve never had a sound nights rest. I understand that this is not the fault of the hotel which is why I have never complained to them but the costumer deserves to know when deciding to stay here. If you are a light sleeper it is best to find something else.

l agent booked us into a suite with a separate bedroom and sofa bed for our children. After arriving around 10 p.m. following a five-hour drive from Canada, I unfolded the sofa bed to find a large, fresh-looking urine stain on the mattress with a noticeable smell. The suite itself also didn't feel clean, with poorly vacuumed carpets and an untidy bed. Reception handled the situation well and showed us alternative rooms, but there wasn't another suite available that night, so we had to move into a standard room. Although disappointing given we'd paid for a suite, the room was much cleaner. We were told another suite would be arranged the following day, but we had to contact the manager ourselves rather than being updated proactively. The replacement suite had a clean sofa bed mattress, but the carpets were still extremely dusty and looked as though they hadn't been properly vacuumed in a long time. Throughout our five-night stay, our towels were replaced daily and the bathroom was cleaned, but our beds were never made—not once. Even after housekeeping removed wet sheets from the sofa bed following a small water spill, they didn't replace them or remake the sofa bed. We had to call reception again for fresh bedding. None of the safes worked in the rooms we stayed in and we just could not be bothered to report it and as a result ended up taking our passports and valuables everywhere with us. The biggest positive was the staff. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, professional and genuinely tried to help. On our last day when checking out, we discovered a master key left on the floor outside our room, which we highlighted when checking out - to my surprise, the response was very blasé, especially considering the security risk this presents in the wrong hands. The hotel does have a lovely gym which is kept clean and this was a big plus as I enjoy working out. There are also some lovely and very clean streets to run around which I made use of and that was also a massive tick. This review isn't directed at customer facing staff, I believe management needs to improve housekeeping standards and provide staff with the resources they need, including sufficient staff on reception. One highlight was the fantastic Italian restaurant attached to the hotel, which was excellent throughout our stay. Sadly, I wouldn't stay here again because the cleanliness and housekeeping standards simply aren't what I'd expect from a Hilton hotel.
