Dresden Castle

Located in Cudahy, WI, Dresden Castle is a uniquely transformed wedding venue. Once a church of the Holy Family Congregation, this building has been repurposed to celebrate the union of two people in love. The name of the establishment is derived from the City of Dresden. Drawing from architectural and neighborhood similarities, Dresden Castle has become a destination for gatherings, remembrance, and joyous occasions. The families that originally settled in Cudahy in the late 1800s and early 1900s aimed to have a local place of worship within their growing community. From this goal, a committee formed, the members of which urged the Archbishop Sebastian Messmer of the Milwaukee Archdiocese to permit the establishment of a church. On the fifth of July, 1900, the parish gained the Congregation of Holy Family. By 1930 the church was well-established and it received an expansion to service a greater number of residents. Weathering both The Great Depression and World War II, the church kept its doors open to a changing community. Just as it appeared in the past, this repurposed church is crafted in a neo-gothic-revival style. It follows a cruciform layout and has a belltower in the northeast corner. Above the entrance, there is a tympanum that reads: Holy Family R.C. Church. A carved dove and three large lancet windows compliment this and other religious ornamentation throughout the building. In total, up to 350 guests can attend an occasion here and marvel at the architecture within the church's walls. When hosting a wedding at Dresden Castle, couples will be able to rent various event items from in-house supplies. These include options like tables, chairs, linens, and audiovisual equipment. In addition to those provisions, the betrothed will have access to get-ready spaces as well as two caterer's kitchens. Conveniently, banquet catering is offered by the venue, meaning that couples will have fewer logistics to worry about.
