We really liked how flexible the venue was, and the event coordinator was great to work with. The day-of staff could be hard to find for things such as adjusting the thermostat and...
lighting; they also refused to open the blinds (the natural lighting in the building was a big draw for us) because "they might be crooked." Overall, a beautiful space with ample flexibility.
Prior to our wedding, Sarah and the team at Drexel were amazing!!! Very communicative, kind, and helpful. The space is beautiful and given how affordable it was, it was exactly wha...
t we were looking for.
Unfortunately, our experience on wedding day wasn't the best. We got married in June and it was over 80 degrees in the venue all night. The AC was going, but just wasn't strong enough to cool such a big building.
The venue coordinator that was working was also incredibly rude. She denied the bride and some of the bridal party from going into the room we were told we could keep our stuff in. She aggressively handed the mother of the groom a broom at the end of the night and demanded she clean. So if you book with Drexel, just ensure Erin is not the coordinator for your night. And ensure you have a thorough plan for clean up!
The venue was inexpensive, the staff was extremely flexible and helpful, and the space is beautiful! I highly recommend.
I heard of this place by word of mouth, and it was beyond gorgeous!
Sarah who works there was amazing at answering all my questions and allowed me to come in a few times to plan th...
e space.
This was the most affordable place I could find that could fit +200 people in Kansas City.
They also allow you to bring in your own alcohol with a licensed bar tender which saved us a ton of money
Had great list of preferred Caterers, but still allowed you to bring in whomever you wanted.
This venue was great. We held our reception here in November and it was perfect. The communication with the venue coordinator always went well, we were able to come by multiple tim...
es throughout the planning process and it was very reasonably priced. I loved how it had the second floor/balcony space that gave us more room but allowed everyone to still be together. We used the courtyard for our cocktail hour and it was perfect and then went inside for the reception which was warm and cozy feeling.
Gorgeous, professional, and affordable, I'd do it all over again there if I could.
Beautiful place to hold a reception!
We are so glad we had our wedding at Drexel Hall last weekend! The space is a beautiful ballroom with a large balcony level and lots of historic detail. It was the perfect spot to ...
have the ceremony and reception in the same location. Our wedding was casual and we put most of it together ourselves. Drexel Hall was the perfect venue for us, since we were able to bring together all of our own vendors. The management was always very helpful, responsive, and professional. We would absolutely recommend Drexel Hall to others!
The new owners of Drexel Hall are really awesome! They are so responsive and helpful. I loved my reception here on 6/10/17 - it was beautiful! The only downside is that it was quit...
e warm - even though it was not that hot outside. I'm assuming it was from the amount of people inside. But it was still fabulous - everyone told us what a pretty venue it was!
Beautiful space. I absolutely loved it. Don't expect any assistance from the owners, they don't do much to assist in setting up or anything. If you need more than 10 dining tables ...
(10 chairs per table), that is extra. Otherwise, pretty straightforward.
Great venue. I had 300 people and they fit fine. They have an upstairs balcony to accommodate more guests.
We were able to view the venue quickly and loved it and booked that day. About a month before the event they sent us a reminder packet and if I had questions they always answered a...
nd quickly got me an answer. We were able to work with whatever vendors we wanted and bring anything in (food, alcohol, decor, etc). This venue is a blank space that you can do anything to! It was everything we wanted and we got our deposit back within a week!
A very unique & beautiful place. I went to visit and the man handed us photos, told us to look around, and come get him if we had questions. When I asked questions about the layout ...
he said they don't have a staff and he wasn't in charge of how it gets set up. This was his response for all questions. He was no help at all. I left knowing no more than I did before I went to visit. I'd seen pictures online so driving all the way there was a complete waste. We stayed all of 5 minutes. The only thing offered besides the space are white chairs, that look like lawn chairs. What a joke. We will not be booking here! They didn't even care enough to have the venue cleaned from the event prior too!!
Beautiful event space with large open ballroom and wrap around balcony above. White space that is easy to dress up with color. The owners are very removed from the space, just hand...
you the keys and let you go. They could be a little off putting at times, like they don't have time for questions. Affordable, but you have to get everything yourself. Overall really loved the space and enjoyed pulling everything in to make it my own!
This venue allowed me to have my dream wedding. The inside is beautiful and does not need much decorating. It also has an upstairs that allows people up there to know what is going...
on downstairs. We had about 275 people and it didn't feel crowded. This venue was very reasonably priced and easy to work with.
Drexel was a beautiful venue for my wedding and I'm glad I chose them, but the contract features a number of stipulations that might be difficult to adhere to without being familia...
r with them. However, Drexel has "preferred catering partners" who know the specifics of the contract forwards and backwards. I'd highly recommend going with a preferred catering partner if you choose Drexel.
Drexel is a beautiful and historic hall and a great value, especially for the size. It's no frills and only the venue, so you must put together a good team of caterers, florists, ...
etc to make things go the way you wish. The building is older, but in great shape and a true KC landmark. My only complaint would be that the bridal room is right off the women's bathroom, which created a bit of confusion as I was waiting to go down the aisle. Otherwise, things turned out perfectly.
I love the inside and the outside of the building and it worked perfectly for both locations for our wedding. The man who runs it can be a bit hard to work with, they aren't very f...
lexible but it wasn't bad. We really loved having it there.
The venue itself is beautiful. I was pleased with the availability to come in the day before to set up and hold our rehearsal dinner. My only complaint is the office staff, althoug...
h fairly easy to work with and polite, the man seemed to have too much on his plate, may consider hiring another person to help with workload.
Great space..but owner is not very polite nor willing to work with you. Very hard to set up meetings and is very strict.
I fell in love with Drexel as soon as I saw it. I had a couple concerns about size but with 150 guests it worked out perfectly for the ceremony, reception, and dance. I worked wi...
th Richard and he was always willing to listen and help in any way possible. It was a wonderful experience!
We had our reception here and it was beautiful. It is a really pretty space and easy to decorate, however, there are restrictions on where and how you can hang decorations. We al...
so liked that you can use your own vendors - it made this venue very affordable.
I had my wedding here Sept 22nd and it was a great experience. The customer service was superb and always got back to me with any questions that I had.
