This chapel was perfect for our August wedding! We had a small wedding with 50 guests and it was perfect! The chapel itself is so beautiful, it really didn’t need much decor! The lady that does the weddings there is soooo sweet and made is so easy to tour and book for the wedding and rehearsal!
They take such great care of the property too! The bridal suite they have was so dreamy. We came with hair and makeup already done and got dressed and did final touches and get ready pictures there and it was perfect!
I love this chapel and all it’s little details. The bridal area is super nice. The lady who runs it is super through and flexible with your schedule. It’s also very reasonably priced. Which is pretty unheard of these days for wedding venues. I would chose this place even if I had to do it all over again.
To book the chapel you can go to their website and it’s very self-explanatory. Barbara sends a confirmation letter in the mail and is so helpful and answers any questions very timely! She was also there for our rehearsal and was so welcoming and sweet. The bridal area to get ready is very spacious and the chapel itself is just so cute and romantic. Everyone found it pretty easily and we had the best experience here. Would recommend booking!
Duncan Memorial is GORGEOUS!! They were super easy to work with and very punctual about every step leading up to the big day. It was so beautiful, so simple. The price is fantastic!! I couldn't say enough great things about using Duncan Memorial for our big day!
Beautiful venue, easy to work with, great service!
Beautiful setting- our guests loved it and our pictures were beautiful. Perfect for a smaller wedding. One piece of advice- if you would like the bells to chime on the hour, make sure to ask. We assumed they were always on, since we had heard them on a visit, and had some confusion on our ceremony start time when they did not chime. Makes complete sense they would not be on all the time to limit interruptions, but we did not think about that before.
Our wedding is 42 days from today and we found out that the four hour time slot we reserved almost a year prior to our wedding date is no longer available. Yes that's right, we booked it and now they say we didn't and are blaming a little old lady who no longer works there stating she misrepresented the information she gave us and was beginning to get senile and the management knew there were issues with her. However there isn't anything to be done about the fact that our time slot has been booked and we now have no venue and all they offered was an apology and Barbara telling me she knows how difficult planning a wedding is because she planned her daughter's wedding 2 years ago. Well swell, I still am 42 days from my wedding and now find out I need to find new venue and you want to talk to me about your daughter's wedding? Thanks a lot!
From the moment I walked into Duncan Memorial, I knew I had to get married there! We looked and spoke with approximately 35 other venues in the Louisville area and no other one wowed us the way this one did. You can rent it in 2 hour increments and it's only 150. I have seen other reviews that state that they have been run off by the people that care for the grounds. We ran about 15 over and were out on the grounds taking pictures and no one ever said anything to us. When we booked with the lady, she was as sweet as she could be.
Not LGBT friendly! No big deal. Everyone is entitled to their own views BUT they didn't tell us this when we inquired. They let us drive out there, fill out the paperwork and then, with a look of disgust, told us they don't allow "that" there.
I wanted to have our wedding ceremony here as soon as I knew we could! The chapel is on the smaller side-seats around 100 guests, but is gorgeous and created a lasting memory. Th staff was courteous and very helpful.
I may be a little bias because I was a third generation bride to be married at Duncan Memorial in my family, but if you are planning on having an intimate ceremony you couldn't find a more beautiful setting. You do only get the chapel for a two hour time period, but the cost is so low that it's really not an issue to book two time slots.
My husband and I absolutely fell in love with this chapel from the moment we saw it online. The rate for a 2 hour time slot was very cheap, and really the one time slot is all you need! Our ceremony was short and sweet and we ended up leaving before our time was up! This chapel is breathtaking and perfect for all seasons!
If you are having a smaller wedding near Louisville, this place is it. It's $175 for 2 hours, with the option to book two blocks back-to-back (if available). They do run you off the grounds the second your time is up (they are very popular, and book several weddings a day), so we went ahead and rented two blocks. The chapel itself is a gorgeous stone building, with stone floors, stained glass windows, carved wooden pews, and tons of ambiance. My brother officiated our wedding, and stood at the alter with no microphone and was heard throughout the entire chapel. The grounds are beautiful as well -- there's a lake, a wishing well, and the outside of the chapel is beautiful, lots of stone and ambiance.
Some things you should consider: they say you can fit 120 guests in there, but I think it's more like 80-90. We had 85 at our wedding and everyone fit comfortably and the place was full, I can't imagine cramming more people in.
You are also responsible for your own minister, music, decorations, etc. We chose not to decorate at all, since the chapel is so amazing on it's own. My brother went online and got ordained to marry us, and we used an ipod dock for music (which worked wonderfully, the acoustics are great.)There is an organ on-site that you can hire someone to use, and there is space off to the side if you would want to bring in live musicians.
They only have one room to get ready in, and it is VERY small -- plus the only bathroom is located in the room, so guests were coming in and out. I got ready off-site, and just used the room to put my shoes on, fix my makeup, etc, before the ceremony.
The chapel is a memorial chapel, so there is a crypt under your feet and it is situated in a graveyard. It really is not creepy or weird though -- the family who built the chapel took great pains to make it look beautiful.
It is definitely worth a look, and your pictures will be GORGEOUS.
Beautiful place
The Duncan Memorial Chapel is an awesome venue for smaller weddings. It has beautiful grounds and you don't need to add much to the decor because its already so gorgeous. The only complaint is the lady that lives there. She is in some of my photographs spying from the background and she took down my wedding decorations before my time was up (we still needed more pics). Definetely get 2 units of time if you plan to use this venue.
The chapel is gorgeous . It was exactly what me and my husband thought it would be . The organ was a beautiful touch . I recommend this too any bride and groom who is looking for a small and intimate wedding . We loved that it was small but so beautiful .
Our wedding ceremony was at Duncan Memorial Chapel in Crestwood. It is the perfect place for an small imitate ceremony. The chapel holds about 100 people, it is a steal for the price they charge! When you pull into the property you will feel like you have entered a fairytale, this chapel looks like one you would find in any storybook.
The property also has a wishing well and a small pond, it is a beautiful location and a steal... I highly recommend it!
We immediately fell in love with Duncan Memorial when we visited! It was perfect for our ceremony and I highly recommend it!! It is reserved in 2 hour blocks and we were happy with our decision to book 4 hours instead of just 2 so we had enough time for pictures.
I have no complaints at all. Make sure to keep your head count around 100 and book two of the 2 hr time slots to make sure there are no other weddings trying to get in at the same time you are leaving. That's what I did and everything was perfect! The price was very cheap and the scenery inside and out were beautiful!
Everything I wanted at an affordable price! It was beautiful!
