Dutch Oven Bakery

Made our cake exactly like the picture! And the raspberry filled cupcakes were a huge hit!

My husband and I were just married in Mackinac Island. He grew up near Ames and had always loved the cake from Dutch Oven Bakery. We decided that we wanted our guests to share in the delicious cakes that they make, so Courtney worked very diligently with us to figure out how we could transport a two-tiered cake plus sheet cakes all the way to Mackinac Island. She decorated the cake exactly as we requested, and helped us plan the trip to make sure the cakes would make it safely. We transported the cakes in large cooler, and they were beautiful and delicious for the wedding!! I am not usually a fan of frosting, but on these cakes it is exceptional! And the cake itself is of course delicious! All of our guests commented on how great the cake was. The prices here are great, the service is outstanding, and they go above and beyond to make your dream come true. We will continue to get cake from Dutch Oven Bakery, no matter how far away we might be!!

Dutch Oven Bakery They made a very delicious and affordable cake for us. They were helpful in informing us what size cakes to order so there was enough to go around. The fillings that they used inside the cakes were also delicious. Dutch Oven also provided mini dutch letters which were awesome and were completely gone by the end of the night. I would highly recommend Dutch Oven as they did a terrific job.

I love Durch Oven cakes and pastries, have since I was a kid! The results were as expected, delicious cake with buttercream icing! The only thing I would have done differently would be to ask for more ideas of what they can do. The cake looked good, but I know it would have been great if I had asked for more when it came to making the cake grander. I did learn some things though! Light grey detail work is not going to come out well as a substitute for silver. I'm also a stickler for details so a very slight unevenness to a bottom ribbon is something I notice immediately. But I also got rave reviews from everyone about how much they enjoyed the cake!

I actually used the Dutch Oven Bakery in Boone, IA. My husband and I had an idea in mind and emailed to them, they respectfully informed us that they hadn't done a cake like that before and wasn't comfortable attempting it. We appreciated their honesty and choose to still go through with them. We went into the meeting not having any idea of what we wanted. They were more than helpful and we left with a design! The cake was delicious (as always) and much cheaper than Hy-Vee. Plus, at our one year anniversary they will make us an anniversary cake at no extra charge!

The cake was beautiful, and tasted just as good. My matron-of-honor had to try one of each flavor, and rolled her eyes with each first bite, as it was that amazing. Great design ideas that I never could have imagined, and they looked better than what I had pictured in my mind. Also, they will make a replica cake for your first anniversary, so you don't have freeze your top tier. Great flavor, great cost, wonderful designs.

I grew up with the Dutch Oven bakery so I knew what to expect…and they totally surpassed my expectations. The cake was beautiful and I had only 10 pieces left after the wedding. I saw some people go back 3-4 times for cake!!! Plus they make you a little cake on your 1st anniversary so you don’t have to eat frozen cake you have shoved in the back of your freezer for a year. Did I mention I doubled the cake size 7 days before the wedding?? Yup and she totally had it under control. Book early though she fills up fast!

Cake was great, staff was great to work with. Cake was beautiful. You can't go wrong with this place. They are professionals and do a great job!
