About this vendor
DWRI Letterpress, based in Providence, RI, provides full wedding invitation suites made through letterpress printing. Founder Dan Wood has worked in the world of print and production since graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1994. He is joined by a committed team of artists. They are all committed to preserving this historic art form.
Dan’s skills in printing have been recognized on a national and international level. Some of his pieces are found in the New York Public Library, RISD Museum of Art, and in numerous private collections. He is supported in DWRI Letterpress by fellow printers Lois, Hope, and Tom. Together, they boast more than 30 years of experience in commercial and fine art printing. They serve clients all over the New England area but are also happy to work remotely with those further afield.
Invitations from DWRI Letterpress can follow a suggested design, or be completely custom-made. Every staff member is an artist themselves, and they offer their creative flair to help you come up with a concept. Save-the-dates, invitations, and menus are just some of the items they can produce. Your chosen suite can be accented with dreamy foil stamping and finished off with an elegantly embossed envelope. For an added touch of luxury, this printing company regularly collaborates with local artists to provide calligraphy for addresses.

We cannot recommend DWRI, and especially Lois Harada, for any stationary needs one might have, but especially for weddings. Every single piece of stationery that they designed and produced for us has been absolutely perfect and gorgeous, and we've lost count of all the different compliments people have given us. (Like, how often are people still talking about the Save the Dates AT the wedding?? Because they were at ours!!) Lois and the staff at DWRI have been such a kind and generous help to us, and we've loved every time we've been able to come in and meet to discuss different elements. Certainly if there are any other stationery needs that we run into in the future (or if anyone we know is looking for something stationery related), we will point them to DWRI.
DWRI was amazing to work with. Lois was incredibly responsive, accommodating to our requests and helped us create an invitation and day of materials that we loved. The quality was excellent and we cannot recommend them enough!
I loved working with DWRI Letterpress to create our one of a kind wedding invitations! Lois worked closely with me to make sure the vision I had came to life, gave excellent creative suggestions, and adapted quickly to any feedback I had or changes I asked to make to the drafts she shared. I felt like I had the option to personalize any detail I wanted. We live in DC, so I thought the long distance might make the process difficult, but it was truly a breeze.
Once the invites were done, they were carefully packaged and shipped to us so we could include personal notes and assemble them ourselves as I requested. I had the envelopes printed with addresses which was great, but they also included some extra blank ones in case we needed them. The invites are just gorgeous, and the quality is amazing. I'm really excited to send these out to our guests!
I just can't say enough positive things, and highly recommend working with DWRI Letterpress! Artists are the best!
Lois was fantastic. From the very first conversation we had, she was friendly, professional, and so helpful! She was able to guide me in the right direction and create the most BEAUTIFUL invitations and table numbers for my event. Highly recommend!
We are thrilled with our letterpress save the dates, invitations, day-of signage, and thank you notes. DWRI has a beautiful selection of past custom wedding invitations to look at and take inspiration from. We were involved in the design process and Dan and Lois's communication was excellent at every point in the process. They explained pricing and options transparently and checked in multiple times. The quality of the invitations and our experience with DWRI staff were top notch.
Lois from DWRI handled all communications with me from my first visit to the shop (which I highly recommend), all the way through to the finished product. She really knew her stuff and was able to help me make wise design decisions that would translate to the best possible results with my budget in mind. I plan on using DWRI again very soon for some non-wedding related print jobs. They're awesome!!!
We went to DWRI twice as we had two weddings: one in the US and one in Singapore. We went into our initial contact with an open mind, but it's fair to say that by the time we wrapped the first round of printing, we could not imagine working with anyone else the second time around. Our weddings were very small, intimate events, as a couple from the architecture and textile fields we were very hands-on with the designed elements. Lois and Dan handled our invitations, menus, and coasters, and were warm and professional at the same time. They said "yes" to our requests, got excited with us as we conceptualised our thoughts, and made recommendations based on their printing expertise and our ideas always turned out better for it. A few touches stood out: Lois sat with us as we poured over Pantone decks and paper samples, trying to pin down our colours for inks and papers. She gave us room to discuss colour decisions, then would make specific suggestions about adjusting to the way colours and textures would print, based on her own experience. She also recommended colour-matched paper stock for last-minute digital printing in Singapore, and arranged for us to meet with their paper rep in Providence before we left, even though this was outside of her scope of work. These are the extra touches that will transform any wedding production into a personalised experience. On the pragmatic front, DWRI charges a fair price, even for small quantities, and they often deliver ahead of their stated schedule. They will be our go-to for personal and professional projects for a long time.
Working with Lois and Dan for our wedding invitations was excellent. They are professional, talented and helped us achieve our creative goals while being budget conscious.
Save the date: I had a custom illustration that I wanted to create in one color, Lois helped guide the process and gave pointers on how the image would translate.
Invitations and RSVP cards: Lois helped finesse my design and also give insight on the best way to utilize our floral graphic into other areas of our invite suite to best utilize our investments and keep the look and feel consistent without being stale or expected.
Table seat cards: I was happy to continue printing into this element even though I could have saved money by doing something blank. These printed cards also then took center stage and helped mark our candy favor table. It was great to find multiple uses and any extras I have I used at my baby shower
Tea Ceremony Invites and Thank You cards:
We kept a similar patter for both my Wedding thank you cards and Tea Ceremony cards but just changed the color paper stock to be cultural relevant (red paper, gold ink)
Return Envelopes and RSVPs: It was nice to have our personal address on the flap and helped streamline the personalization and mailing time.
I love working with Lois and really respect Dan's personal work and craft. I used them again for both of my birth announcement cards and elevated those with foil stamping in the letterpress.
I also use them professionally at my company for foil stamped, blank thank you, for which I always receive numerous compliments about. They are a stellar team and company. I love supporting small businesses and they are RISD Alumni!
Lois was amazing! I first reached out to Lois because I wanted a true letter press wedding invite. She responded within the same day and even invited me to her shop in Providence RI. After reviewing a few samples, we were able to get busy. I sent over Lois a few inspirational ideas and wanted a very custom check list. She delivered, and they came out exceptional. We got so many complements and we wowed our guests. Also, it was great to not have to worry about choosing paper, envelopes, etc. We did an online vendor for our save the dates, and it was very overwhelming. Lois did it all for us including envelope addressing.
