After a lengthy and frustrating experience, I feel it is important to share my honest review of this caterer.
We hired Deven Bora of Early Bird Catering for our wedding weekend...
10/10/25-10/12/25 to handle the rehearsal dinner, cocktail hour, dinner at the reception, dessert, and brunch the following morning. We paid for services that were not fully provided as contracted. He also arrived late for every event of the weekend. Our cocktail hour started at 5pm and he arrived at 4:50. He tried to get alcohol from the bar twice and brought his mom and sister to help him instead of the 8 staff members we paid for. Our other vendors (DJ, coordinator, venue owners, bartenders) were pulled from their duties to help him prepare and serve food. It was incredibly embarrassing and frustrating to have hired someone who knew in advance that they could not fulfill the contracted services and made a (less than) half hearted attempt anyway. He also had the audacity to email me following the weekend and ask us to consider a tip even though there were “a few delays” during the weekend.
Planning a major event is stressful enough without having to worry about whether contracted services will be delivered. It has also tainted the memories of my wedding weekend which has made it difficult for me to enjoy my beautiful pictures, listen to the music we selected, write reviews for the vendors who did show up and do their jobs, send thank you notes, etc. It has made my wedding a painful memory that no amount of money can truly undo.
Although it’s a relief to finally have the matter resolved and the judgment ruled in our favor we would have much preferred for Deven / Early Bird Catering to honor its commitments.
Early Bird Cookery provided catering for out wedding this past weekend and everything was wonderful. Amy was a joy to work with from start to finish. Her team was lovely. Food was ...
amazing, service was great and table setting was so good, I cried when I saw it. We highly recommend Amy and team for any type of event, big or small!
Amy provided the catering for our Catskills wedding recently and we were delighted with her service. The entire offering was so appropriate for the setting, for our tastes, and for...
the style of our wedding. We had a tasting in May, ordered a few meal packs from her through the summer, then had the wedding in October, so overall we tried her food about 4-5 times. In particular we loved the local and seasonal approach to her cooking and how she makes healthy, and often vegetarian, meals taste so fulfilling. She was able to cater for various dietary restrictions among our guests, such as vegetarian, gluten free and kids meals. The food received numerous compliments from many satisfied guests, highlights included the spanakopita, the pulled pork and the “best hot chocolate ever!” She was able to work with us on a slightly flexible plan which was weather dependent and came together smoothly at the end - huge welcome platters of cheese & charcuterie as guests mingled, then for the meal itself she provided plated appetizers, family style mains and salads, and finished with fruit pies. The meal was served in a tent on a rural property with a large kitchen in the farmhouse, and Amy’s team did a great job of working under those conditions. As an added bonus all the staff were lovely and helped to make everything run smoothly.
Amy was easy to communicate with, a life saver in terms of connecting with the Rental Company, and she and her staff were professional and easy going. The food was fresh, interest...
ing, just beautiful. She worked with us to create our dream menu and our guests RAVED about the food. They said it was best food they'd ever had at a wedding.
We’re really happy with the food and service we got from Early Bird Cookery! Amy worked within our *numerous* dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten free, nut free) to create an extre...
mely appetizing menu. Our event captain, Dayna, was extremely well organized, and all of Early Bird Cookery’s staff were fun and very professional. We had Early Bird staff our bar as well, and they collaborated with us on coming up with four signature cocktails that were served along with wine and beer (we provided the alcohol). Most importantly, the food and cocktails were delicious and many of our guests are still raving about it!
We could not be happier to have chosen Early Bird Cookery as our caterer! If you are getting married in the Catskills then look no further. EBC's food is delicious and high quality...
, made with locally sourced ingredients. Amy and her staff were so incredibly accommodating and flexible throughout the months of planning , the tasting, and the wedding day itself. Our family and friends raved about the food, saying how it felt more like they were eating at a trendy restaurant than at a wedding. Highly recommend!
