“What do you need, Of Course You Can, We’ll Make It Work”
You can pay for a great venue. You can pay for great food. What you can’t buy is a place that cares, where each member ...
of the staff puts their whole heart into everything they do, and where they will put your needs and desires above those of the facility and the staff if necessary. Eastern Point Yacht Club is with a venue with heart and that cares.
Every time we crossed paths with a staff member their attitude was: “what do you need, of course you can, we’ll make it work.” Indeed, staff would literally run, not walk, to accomplish our requests.
The day of the wedding, the forecast was for gale force winds and driving rain. The wedding was at 4 pm. The forecast was for a break in the rain at 4, but not the wind. There were safety concerns with the tent. Sean and his team handled it all with incredible professionalism and generosity of spirit. They made plans and then worked tirelessly as conditions evolved to change them and adapt. In the end, they produced the best possible wedding under the conditions. Sean manages a team that gives 100%. They must be inspired by great leadership.
Some specific examples, include:
-Sean hired more staff to cover all the last minute weather changes, he called the tent company to come back several times to secure the tent for wind and seal gaps from the cold, he arranged a private boat ride for the bride and groom during a brief break in the weather, he personally moved chairs and tables and did much of the heavy lifting to rearrange to accommodate the weather, he figured out how to squeeze all the guests into the dining room for the ceremony, he set up a beautiful alter for the ceremony at the last minute, when we dropped one guest at 3 pm he had the place setting removed immediately, …. This list could go on endlessly with his masterful handling of every detail and responsiveness.
-Lydia literally ran around setting everything up and meeting our every need. At one point, I needed the key to get into the bride and groom’s room. She appeared with it as if she had a Harry Potter teleportation device.
-the couple wanted a special ice cream instead of cake. The Chef was personally helping out at the ice cream station. He also ran to the kitchen to find sorbet for two vegan guests.
-when asked how to fold the napkins, we left it up to the club. I believe it was Shelly who did a beautiful and artistic job in setting the table, arranging the napkins to be both colorful and wind resistant
-the staff knew the groom loved duck. At the end of the evening, they brought us a bag with all the extra duck wrapped up for the groom
-every time we saw Hillary, the bartender, she offered us something to drink and asked what we needed
These examples of going beyond, are just a few of the ones we saw and remember from a whirlwind (literally and figuratively) day. There were many others of which we are unaware.
We thank EPYC for a day we will never forget delivered under duress. We are very grateful.
Absolutely gorgeous spot for a wedding. our guests couldn't get over it. Gorgeous sunset. Dani is awesome at taking care of your needs. A couple minor issues, one being they didn't...
serve all of the cake so some people didn't get some. Another being that we agreed on open bar only on beer and winee, but they did open bar on everything. I would just make sure things are in writing.
