ciant for our ceremony and had a great experience with EC Matrimony. We initially started off with Ernie, but due to an unforseen personal event, we were switched to having Tobin as our officiant. With both officiants we met for an hour-long consultation. Since we live on the east coast, both Ernie and Tobin were very gracious with their weekend time, and with Tobin we ended up scheduling a follow-up two hour session. These consultations formed the backbone of the vows that Tobin put together for us and they were beautiful. Tobin’s vows captured our story in the perfect tone, and was so spot on that our guests thought he was family. Then for the days leading up to the wedding, Tobin was there for our rehearsal. He did a run through of what the ceremony would feel like, and how to put on the rings. Prior to the rehearsal I was a bit skeptical of why it needed to be done, but the attention to detail in which Tobin walked us through made me realize that he saved us from looking a fool on the day of. Then on the day of, the vows went without a hitch, and Tobin also very graciously agreed to give a short welcoming speech to our guest. After the ceremony, he helped facilitate signing the marriage paperwork, and since we were leaving the next day he also took it back to the county office for filing. One of the things that stood out to us is how communicative both Ernie and Tobin were. They sent us materials ahead of time, outlined exactly what our collaboration would look like, and texted us as we got closer to the date. Doing the wedding from across the country was made a lot easier because of this and prevented a lot of potential stress. As for Tobin himself, he is such a sweet and authentic person. Chatting with him felt super effortless, like talking to a friend, and I was really impressed by how at ease we felt meeting him in person even though we had only called twice before. He also had a lot of gravitas while still feelilng like a peer. Another thing that stood out is his ability to ask the right questions and go deep. Looking at the vows he read off of day of, I saw the notes and last minute changes, and thought ‘wow Tobin really cares, and he is so well prepared’. Truly a lovely guy who will capture your story in the best light.

She has an incredible eye for detail and made sure everything was perfectly arranged for our special day—even down to coordinating Don’s tie with our wedding colors, which was such a thoughtful touch! Don himself was so kind and genuine, and he performed a ceremony that was deeply meaningful and personal to us. One of my favorite things was his speaking voice—it was calm, engaging, and added such a special touch to the ceremony. We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant team. t came time to think about who we’d like to have such a big part in our wedding day it was an easy choice. Ernie is very reasonable on his pricing for the amount of time he puts into learning about the bride and groom, and for the effort given to make sure he gives all the options from religious, to non-traditional and from unity to other options to make the wedding day truly personalized and your own. Ernie showed up on time if not early making sure things were going to plan, he was dressed well and looked perfect for the occasion. He is very well-spoken, speaking beautifully and with intention. All of our guests also felt they he spoke clearly and with the perfect amount of volume for all to hear. Ernie was able to give us many phone call meetings to talk about what we wanted and to get to know us, and he was able to ease my anxiety as a bride. Ernie has a calmness but thorough way about him, and it made it easy for us to create a perfect ceremony! 1000% recommend Ernie for your wedding ceremony!

I wasn’t sure what I wanted and to be honest, after all the wedding planning, I didn’t even care lol my brain was fried. But, Ernie sent over so many documents of examples, and got to know us during our meeting. At the wedding, he was clear and concise, Humorous, when appropriate and Romantic as well. Our guests loved him and he made my husband and I feel so comfortable. Highly recommend if you’re in the Portland metro area

Don and his wife Dodie sent us a pre-wedding checklist to make sure we got our marriage license on time and all the little details were taken care of. After the ceremony they instructed us on how to complete the license and took care of mailing it in for us. They made the whole process so easy.

Not to mention, Don’s wife Dodie was also really helpful and wonderful to be around. We are suggesting them to anyone we know who needs an officiant or is looking for a church community to be a part of (: We are non-religious and EC Matrimony + Don fit our every need. I am soooo glad we decided to go with them for our big day. Both our families loved Don & Dodie so much ♥️ Pro tip: if you want them to be able to be at your wedding for the reception, book way in advance! We dropped the ball on this and they weren’t able to stay and celebrate (everyone wanted them stay 🥲) ! We got married in Hood River, OR btw!

ate the information into his script. I would rate 4 stars, as it appeared that Ernie was overbooked/had too much going on and I requested a copy of the script multiple times. My planner also had wanted to see the script. We never did receive any script for the wedding. I am a very detailed oriented person who just wanted to make sure that our special edits were incorporated perfectly (and almost felt like I should just write the script myself!). It did not give me the peace of mind I needed, although he had sent a summary via text 5 days before the wedding. The ceremony was special, but at times felt slightly long-winded. Brides want to feel special and one wants to feel like someone's "only client". I had received a text 4 days before the wedding that he had 2 other weddings ahead of ours and he would not be working on ours until the night before. I don't feel that it was proper planning since we hired him in Jan 2024, 9 months before the wedding, and had met with him in late July (pushed out at his request from June, as initially scheduled). I enjoyed his personality and he delivered a nice ceremony, I just would have appreciated additional pre-planning and communication.

He also prepared a wedding script for us to follow during the ceremony and sent it to us in advance. Lastly, he was open to our suggestions about the wedding location (the beautiful Jenkins Estate) and arrived there on time. Even though it was a small reception, Ernie, being a popular choice in the area, still agreed to participate and made us feel well cared for. We wholeheartedly recommend hiring Ernie for your wedding, big or small. His attention to detail and exceptional oratory skills will undoubtedly make your day even more special.

He got to know us, asked all the right questions, encouraged my husband and I to relive our 12 year relationship, and recreating moments I hadn’t thought about in years. He incorporated all of that, as well as some very appropriate humor, keeping the element of surprise as we said our vows. We had so many guests come up to us afterwards, complimenting the ceremony and asking us how we knew Tobin. And after the ceremony, I felt like I’ve known him forever!
