I wasn’t sure what I wanted and to be honest, after all the wedding planning, I didn’t even care lol my brain was fried. But, Ernie sent over so many documents of examples, and got to know us during our meeting. At the wedding, he was clear and concise, Humorous, when appropriate and Romantic as well. Our guests loved him and he made my husband and I feel so comfortable. Highly recommend if you’re in the Portland metro area

We received so many compliments from our guests on how well he led the ceremony. Don and his wife Dodie sent us a pre-wedding checklist to make sure we got our marriage license on time and all the little details were taken care of. After the ceremony they instructed us on how to complete the license and took care of mailing it in for us. They made the whole process so easy.

Not to mention, Don’s wife Dodie was also really helpful and wonderful to be around. We are suggesting them to anyone we know who needs an officiant or is looking for a church community to be a part of (: We are non-religious and EC Matrimony + Don fit our every need. I am soooo glad we decided to go with them for our big day. Both our families loved Don & Dodie so much ♥️ Pro tip: if you want them to be able to be at your wedding for the reception, book way in advance! We dropped the ball on this and they weren’t able to stay and celebrate (everyone wanted them stay 🥲) ! We got married in Hood River, OR btw!

ate the information into his script. I would rate 4 stars, as it appeared that Ernie was overbooked/had too much going on and I requested a copy of the script multiple times. My planner also had wanted to see the script. We never did receive any script for the wedding. I am a very detailed oriented person who just wanted to make sure that our special edits were incorporated perfectly (and almost felt like I should just write the script myself!). It did not give me the peace of mind I needed, although he had sent a summary via text 5 days before the wedding. The ceremony was special, but at times felt slightly long-winded. Brides want to feel special and one wants to feel like someone's "only client". I had received a text 4 days before the wedding that he had 2 other weddings ahead of ours and he would not be working on ours until the night before. I don't feel that it was proper planning since we hired him in Jan 2024, 9 months before the wedding, and had met with him in late July (pushed out at his request from June, as initially scheduled). I enjoyed his personality and he delivered a nice ceremony, I just would have appreciated additional pre-planning and communication.

He also prepared a wedding script for us to follow during the ceremony and sent it to us in advance. Lastly, he was open to our suggestions about the wedding location (the beautiful Jenkins Estate) and arrived there on time. Even though it was a small reception, Ernie, being a popular choice in the area, still agreed to participate and made us feel well cared for. We wholeheartedly recommend hiring Ernie for your wedding, big or small. His attention to detail and exceptional oratory skills will undoubtedly make your day even more special.

He got to know us, asked all the right questions, encouraged my husband and I to relive our 12 year relationship, and recreating moments I hadn’t thought about in years. He incorporated all of that, as well as some very appropriate humor, keeping the element of surprise as we said our vows. We had so many guests come up to us afterwards, complimenting the ceremony and asking us how we knew Tobin. And after the ceremony, I felt like I’ve known him forever!

His delivery of a standard civil ceremony was heartfelt & sincere - even though he’s probably officiated hundreds of such mini weddings ! He’s approachable & possesses a great sense of humor. I contacted several potential officiants-ministers and selected Ernie since he’s very experienced, does many outdoor weddings, and was excited to marry us (in our early 60s and previously divorced). Don’t hesitate to speak with him about any of your concerns - very reasonable fees too.

e reaching out on such short notice and he was so understanding, and accommodating. He actually had another wedding that day but was willing to squeeze us in. He scheduled a meeting where he explained everything we needed to know about our ceremony, and he actually gave us a lot of information that was very helpful to know for day of. A few days before our wedding, our venue cancelled on us and we had to switch locations. When we reached out to him, I was so nervous he wouldn't be able to ordain our ceremony because it was further away from our initial location, but he said he would be able to make it work. Our wedding day finally came, and I was so glad to see Ernie was able to make it. Our ceremony was beautiful. Although I was so incredibly nervous I could barely register what was going on, however the pieces that I did catch were beautiful. The ceremony was exactly what we wanted, and I am so glad that he ordained it. After the ceremony all of our guests kept coming up to us, and they all said the same thing, "The ceremony was beautiful, he did such a great job.". Thank you so much Ernie, you helped make our day less stressful, and your words will be something we will reflect on often. I would definitely recommend you hire him for your wedding!
