April and her group were amazing to work with! April was always quick to respond and coordinated with the church musicians to make sure all went smoothly. We had the string trio for our church ceremony and it gave our day such an elegant and classic touch. We couldn't have asked for better musicians to be a part of our day!

We are more than thrilled that we booked April and her Elegant Ensemble strings trio for cocktail hour for my daughter’s wedding. From the beginning when I reached out to April, she was responsive, professional, very nice, and very easy to work with. When I stepped out onto the patio right before cocktail hour started, they were all set up and playing their beautiful music. I have to say that the music elevated cocktail hour to a different level and really just took my breath away. It was a warmer evening, so they put a canopy up and had no complaints or hesitations about playing in the warm afternoon sun. We were so grateful for that!!!! If you are deciding whether or not to have strings, you definitely should, and you should for sure book April and her Elegant Ensemble group. They were AMAZING!!!

A graduate of Elmhurst College with a degree in Music and Business, April has made her lifelong passion into a career. Elegant Ensembles was started in 1995 as a way to help connect folks in the Chicago area with talented local musicians passionate about their work.
Married in 1995 to Ron, and the mother to Charysse, April also dabbles with the guitar, piano and mandolin. Aside from music making, you can find April on the tennis court 3-5 days a week, discovering new cooking techniques in her kitchen and nurturing plants in her raised garden beds.

d given them custom requests for unorthodox classical pieces (Borodin and Mussorgsky), and April found the corresponding string quartet arrangements.
We were particularly impressed by the quartet's professionalism and attention to detail. They made sure every aspect of the performance was tailored to our vision. April helped us plan which pieces would be played for each segment, so that the whole ceremony would be a flowing, seamless experience. Our guests were so moved by the stirring music, especially our 2 year old ring bearer, who couldn't take his eyes off the quartet for the whole ceremony! I hope this had awoken a love for music in him.
Elegant Ensembles exceeded our expectations in every way, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect addition to our special day. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a talented and dedicated string quartet!

during cocktail hour as well. The only hiccup we experienced was during our first look. EE was setting up for the ceremony and there was a large storage container near where the groom was standing. Our photographer kindly asked one of the musicians to move their container so it wouldn’t be in our pictures and they replied in a not so friendly tone “I will in a minute”. My husband (the groom) had to speak up and tell the musician that we were trying to do our first look and can they please move the container (Which then they happily did once they realized he was the groom). Working well with other vendors helps keep the stress off the bride and groom! Other than that everything went smooth as butter! :)

new I was gonna walk down to Yellow by Coldplay and end it with A Sky Full of Stars. The church only had a pianist for us and I knew having a violinist will make everything more elegant and emotional, so I just have to hire one and I am so glad I found April.
She was so approachable and she made sure to be in synced with our church pianist. She even played couple of songs before the ceremony started and everyone kept saying how beautiful our church ceremony was.

The music selections I choose were a nod to my late grandmother, and I wish she could have been there to appreciate it. I was a little nervous about having musicians play at a ceremony without a rehearsal with them, but it was no problem at all. We gave them the wedding program and everything was perfect :) It was everything we imagined.

more right! All my interactions were with April (the owner) and she was great to work with. She made sure to take care of coordinating their performance and ensured the music selection was to my taste. Many guests have told me they were very impressed with the performances at both our ceremony and cocktail hour--especially with some fan favorites like the Game of Thrones theme song the quartet incorporated! I look forward to hearing more of Elegant Ensembles performance in our wedding video!

The only complaint I had was with regards to paying the musicians through Elegant Ensembles (had to give my credit card number by fax or over the phone, which I don't like doing), and for whatever reason, we weren't allowed to tip our musicians directly, it had to go through the company...otherwise though, they were great!

eck for payment in addition to the credit card option. For gratuities, you are welcome to give the musicians gratuities directly in cash. If a check is given (in your case you wrote it payable to Northbrook Quartet and they don't have a bank account in that name) then you can make it payable to the ensemble leader or to Elegant Ensembles (and we will make sure they get the full gratuity). rmation she needed without us having to coordinate with another person. Also, although we wanted to use a few traditional songs that were on their list we also wanted to use piano versions of some more current songs. April went out and found the sheet music so our pianist would be able to play exactly what we wanted.
The day of our wedding our pianist (Robyn) was right on time and had all of the information she needed. She coordinated with the contact at our venue and our officiant to make sure she had all the correct cues without us having to be involved.
Working with elegant ensembles was simple and seamless!
