The app was my absolute favorite part of this experience because I had previously been keeping everything in my Iphone notes app. Having a location to put each piece of info with optional notes and your DJ having a direct connection to it is flawless. After we signed our contract we were connected with Travis as our DJ. Travissssss. Absolutely incredible night from the ceremony to the reception he crushed it. (He even handled a 2 minute ceremony like an absolute boss with a seamless transition to cocktail hour) From our first meeting with him, we knew we were all going to get along well, being into the same music and laughing about the same things, it was good vibes all around. Everyone kept making fun of me because Travis kept asking my opinion and I’d be like “yeah, whatever you want, you pick, I trust you” and would laugh because I just trusted his opinion wholeheartedly. Now let me tell you, he did NOT MISS ONCE!!! So many times I wanted to say “I love this song” and it was a song not on my list, pulled from a long lost archive of my brain. He nailed this.

The ability to review/change/interact with your team before hand is a game changer! I said it once and I’ll say it again, guests are still telling us how amazing the music was — it really was one of the major highlights of our wedding. As a gay couple, we were surprised and disappointed to see EMG launch their “EMG Bride” campaign—heavily promoted on TikTok—after we had already signed our contract. The branding centers exclusively on the bride and uses language that feels outdated and exclusionary to LGBTQ+ couples, grooms, nonbinary partners, and anyone who doesn’t see themselves reflected in that very traditional mold. Had the campaign existed when we were booking vendors, we likely would have gone in a different direction. While the party itself was a blast, communication with our DJ was a little bumpy. He missed our final planning meeting, and on the wedding night, he told us dinner wouldn’t be served for another 45 minutes—which was incorrect and caused a spike of stress right before the evening’s main events. Thankfully, our coordinator was nearby and quickly cleared things up. While we’re grateful that our guests had a great time, it would be hard to recommend EMG based on our overall experience and their current marketing direction. We sincerely hope they take this feedback to heart and work toward being more inclusive of all couples moving forward.

One of our favorite parts about the experience was working with Cesar. During our first meeting, Cesar got us started with EMG’s app, which really helped us plan and craft our key songs and timeline for the day. And when we met again to run through our selections, he really understood the feeling we wanted to curate, beyond ‘must-plays’ and our ‘do not play’ list. Cesar acted as our DJ and MC, and was an absolute all-star. For our ceremony and cocktail hour, we had keys, and the vibes were perfect–romantic and thoughtful, and we’re so appreciative that they played a beautiful instrumental rendition of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros’ “Home” for our processional. As the reception kicked off, Cesar hyped us all up, announced our special moments, and kept everything stress-free, working with us and the venue to make sure all our key moments ran smoothly. He was calm, thorough, and fun to work with–Cesar and The Gramercy even helped us pull off a fast-paced photo-blitz with 20 tables. It was something that could have been a stressful experience, but The Gramercy (along with our photographers and a couple of drunk cousins) made it a really fun experience. As the night progressed, The Gramercy had everyone from our 90-year-old aunts to the pre-teen flower girls on the dance floor. They shifted from well-loved wedding classics to 90s/00s jams, working in our favorite pop-punk, alternative and hip-hop songs. The experience was complete with amazing guitar solos, soulful keys, and a badass drummer, while Cesar created mash-ups that kept us jumping until the last song–Shout–riotously played. And while the dance floor raged on, the EMG Photo Booth allowed our guests to capture some of our favorite (and funniest) pictures from the night. We were happy to learn that The Gramercy plays alongside other EMG acts a couple times a year so that newly engaged couples and married couples alike can come and hear their music. We’ll continue to rock out with them (although now that we’re an old married couple, we’ll keep the head-banging to a minimum). We would recommend them to anyone looking for an incredible band. The piano songs we chose were all covers, and they were perfect. The sax was such a fun addition and everyone loved it. The photobooth was a hit and it was really fun to get an album with notes from our guests afterwards. The communication and process with EMG was seamless and we can’t recommend them enough!

We had our last meeting with him the week of our wedding, which was great and allowed us to feel confident he was going to deliver what we wanted. He had legit ALL of our guests on the dancefloor the entire night. Everyone truly had so much fun because he read the room & played the music accordingly, based on our playlist, too. The sax & trumpet players were such an elegant touch, our guests loved it. The best part of EMG is the app they use for you to add all songs, notes, etc. for your entire day. It made the process seamless.

The electric guitarist that played at the reception was good, but didn't get into or interact with the crowd, which I expected. It didn't change the vibe of the dance floor, but I would've preferred he was more involved. Overall, we’re very happy with EMG!

I also HIGHLY recommend getting the Air Photo Booth; that was a HIT at our wedding, it was crowded all night and you even get a guest book that guests can sign. Truly our best wedding investment!! We hired him to do the music for our reception where we customized our wedding dance song and he nailed it. We communicated to him that we our reception will be mostly of our friends and as a result want music that isn’t played on repeat at weddings. Myself as the bride wouldn’t get off the dance floor the whole night! Rob is an incredible DJ, incredibly professional and overall great personality to be the MC. Feel so lucky that we found EMG and were assigned him. Shortly after our wedding I recommended him to do my coworkers wedding. Thank you again Rob for making it such a memorable evening!

Josuel's ability to read the room and adjust the music accordingly kept the energy high and the dance floor packed all night.
