Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden is a fabulous venue located in Palo Alto, CA, that would be ideal for a variety of wedding celebrations. Rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, and various parties can all be enjoyed in this peaceful and serene setting. Cocooned by nature and beautifully landscaped grounds, there are ample eye-catching features, colors, and arrangements to behold. Undoubtedly, it would be easy to imagine enjoying a wedding brunch here as everyone regales each other with tales of the previous day’s reception revelries.
These outstanding premises are named after Elizabeth Frances Gamble, whose grandfather was one-half of the famous Procter & Gamble entrepreneurship. The entire property started to take shape in the early 20th century when the main building was constructed before the gardens were landscaped. Ultimately, it became a public estate in 1985 and was lovingly tended to and invested in over the years. Today, it combines historic features with up-to-date additions that lend it great appeal for those who are planning a variety of wedding-related events. Owing to the ample outdoor gathering spots, it is sure to please those planning al fresco occasions or open-air events. Indoors, too, there is a great deal of sophisticated decor and design that surely does justice to all manner of high-end get-togethers. These would include wedding showers, private celebrations, or pre-ceremony soirees.
A variety of function areas are available to enjoy at Elizabeth F. Gamble Garden. The Carriage House comes with a kitchen space where culinary delights can easily be prepared in style. Out on the accompanying patio, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails can be savored by the couples and their invitees as everyone sinks into the enjoyment of the day. In addition, the Tea House and adjoining patio are also part of the property along with the two Wisteria and Rose Gardens. Certainly, there is so much to admire and appreciate at this breathtaking location, and it is more than worthy of some of life’s most important landmarks.

We had our wedding here in October 2015 and it was the perfect venue for us. If you want to have an outdoor wedding with 50 guests or fewer and no DJ, this is a great option.
Pros: the setting is beautiful, we received many compliments from our guests and our photos turned out great. The venue was in a convenient location for us and there was enough parking for our guests and vendors. The price is very affordable for the area, you get a lot of space and a lot of time for a low cost. There are several different indoor and outdoor areas that you can use for getting ready, the ceremony, and the reception, as well as restrooms. We selected most of our vendors from their recommended vendor list, and we were very pleased with all of them. The wedding coordinator, Gabrielle, was very nice and very knowledgeable about the venue. She made sure we were aware of all the restrictions and followed them.
Possible cons: The property is owned by the City of Palo Alto, and there are many strict restrictions that must be followed. Visit their website to see the event contract and make sure these restrictions will work for you. For example: events are limited to 50 guests or fewer; amplification of any kind is not allowed (no recorded music, no speaker system, no DJ); only musicians from their list can be used. These restrictions were not a problem for us, but could be a dealbreaker for some. Communication with Gabrielle can be tricky, as she does not use email and is not often in the office.
Overall, this was a great venue for our event.

The garden is absolutely beautiful, especially in the summer when all the flower blooms. Gabrielle, the wedding coordinator at the garden, is very accommodating to requests. Although the no amplified speaker restriction could be a challenge for guests to hear clearly during the ceremony, it creates a more intimate setting.

Elizabeth Gamble Garden is a hidden jewel in Palo Alto. A beautiful victorian mansion on several acres of pristinely manicured gardens. Lovely outdoor space, and perfect for an intimate small wedding. Generally, it's open to the public so it's easy to check it out before you make an appointment. The venue cost includes the services of Gabrielle Gross, their event coordinator who is lovely and very helpful. The only (potential) down side is that they don't allow any amplified music (read: no DJ), so you have to hire live musicians, but in my opinion, live musicians perfectly compliment the serene Gamble Garden setting. We had our early October wedding here, and it was PERFECT.
