Elsewhere Wedding Films is a wedding videography service located in Vernon, Vermont.
It's your wedding day. As the finishing touches are made to your hair and your family and friends laugh and joke with anticipation of your big reveal to your lover, will you have those moments recorded?
You and the guys are hanging back in reception hall, and before you head out to the ceremony a last "bottom's up" cheer is called out and you knock back a drink to cool those nerves before standing before all your friends and family to say your vows. Will you have those last friendly words before you're married captured on film?
Elsewhere Wedding Films will be there to catch those subtle moments that will be priceless to you once the moment has passed. If a picture is worth a thousand words, there are twenty four "pictures" or frames in one second of video!
I grew up shooting weddings for my grandfather in Boston. I joke that he's like the Godfather of photo and video for weddings in the North Shore, as he started in the 80's and grew a thriving business that he still runs to this day. At fifteen he said to me, "Alright Colby, time to teach you to shoot video," and I've been doing it ever since.
This turned me on to a degree in Digital Filmmaking at Champlain College in Vermont, and my time in Burlington turned me on to the Green Mountain state! In 2014 I started my own wedding films business under the very creative name "Colby Thompson Films," and have shot and edited hundreds of weddings across New England.
Eventually I moved up to New Hampshire, and a few years ago crossed the bridge (figuratively and literally) to Vermont, where my partner and I live in our DIY tiny house on a few acres of beautiful forested land that we've set up a little homestead on.
Being a wedding filmmaker involves so much responsibility, and so much finesse. When I go out to shoot for a couple, I'm locking down angles and shots that I know will tell the story of a moment, of a location, of a design choice a couple has made for the reception. Movement, timing, depth of field, focal length, artistry.
As a side note, our home is completely solar-powered with an off-grid battery system, so you could say your film was made with 100% renewable energy! If that's not the ultimate Vermont wedding film, I don't know what is!

I can’t even begin to explain how grateful we are that we were able to have Colby capture our day. The video he created is amazing, and it really had the perfect snapshots from the day, including the beautiful Vermont landscape. We can’t wait to watch the raw footage as well!! Other notes, he was very professional and guests didn’t even know he was there!

Colby and his partner filmed our daughter's wedding in July. They did an incredible job! As former videographers, we were looking for a high quality product and they sure delivered! The final product included beautiful drone footage of the area and wonderful closeups of the bride and groom and guests. They were profession and discreet. Their laid back manner put everyone at ease. Thank you for a great job!
Colby filmed my wedding in Waitsfield in July. Him and his partner did such a wonderful job. They both blended into the day seamlessly and stood out always being around to lend a helping hand. They’re personally very lovely to work with!

Colby was WONDERFUL to work with!!! He was easy-going, fun, confident and put us at ease when we were planning. Our photographer, Juniper Studios, highly recommended Colby so we knew that was a great sign! Our personalities matched really well together. He showed up on time, kindly introduced himself, and then he was a quiet worker bee letting us have fun and do our thing while he worked his magic to capture all the best moments from our day. Initially, we were on the fence on if it would be worth it to hire a videographer or not but after working with Colby and Aria, we are absolutely THRILLED that we did! For our wedding, they were shooting at a new venue to them, and working with a photography team that they had never met before but everything was seamless. They were able to assimilate easily and as promised worked in the background to get all of the important shots. Then in less than two weeks Colby was able to produce a wedding film that perfectly captured our wedding day and lets us feel as though we are right back there on our special day. We have spent hours watching our film, and on top of that have also loved going through all of the raw footage that Colby sent to us to relive special moments such as our first look, private vows, first dance, speeches and the fantastic dance moves of our guests. Like everyone says, our wedding day was a blur but we are so happy that we had Elsewhere Wedding Films there to capture all of it!
Colby is SO TALENTED! He captured our day perfectly in our video, and we are so grateful we get to relive the day anytime we watch it. He caught the most special moments on camera, overlaid video with our ceremony in the most perfect way. Can't help but have a huge smile while watching, and of course shed some tears. Colby did an absolutely incredible job with our wedding film. Everyone who has seen it has cried!! It’s just beautiful. Big important moments and little intimate details are woven together seamlessly for a really amazing film and very special viewing experience. On the day of the wedding he captured everything without us ever feeling like the camera was up in our faces or anything like that. He moved around and the venue in such a way that it felt really natural and comfortable having him there among our guests. We’re also very grateful that we were able to add an extra hour in the moment so he could get more dancing footage when our timeline changed and the mother-son dance was running late. I’m so happy to have found Colby and elsewhere wedding films. Highly recommend!!!
Colby was great! He worked so well with our photographers and got all of the great moments we couldn't wait to relive. I wish we had booked for more time! The ~6min video sent over fit our vibes perfectly and emulated the day perfectly. We hired Colby through NuImage, and he was incredible! The video he created for us was so beautiful and edited perfectly, it really captured every amazing moment of our wedding. He even mic’d me up during the ceremony to get some great audio! Another great thing was how quickly we were able to get our video and footage. We honestly can’t stop watching our video, and we couldn’t be happier having worked with Colby!
Colby and Aria from Elsewhere Films did an incredible job capturing our wedding day. When they sent over our feature film, I sobbed for all 6 minutes in awe of how perfect it was! Stop everything you're doing and hire this company to make your wedding video. We were absolutely blown away with our film. I cry every single time I watch it. Colby is unbelievably talented, so easy to work with and clearly has a passion for his projects. He was able to accommodate our wants for raw footage of the entire day, as well as a crafted 5-minute video. His drown added a whole other element, and his transitions were just spot on. Colby, it's safe to say you exceeded all of our expectations. Hire this man, and ask if you can watch the video from our VT wedding if you don't believe me ;)
