Emerald Events by Nilsa

We were totally saved by Emerald Events by Nilsa. Shannon was our primary coordinator, and Yaya was our secondary. Without them, I don't know what we would have done. We planned so many elements of our wedding solo, but without their help we couldn't have made our vision possible, and tackle some of the last minute changes the week of and the day of the wedding. Their wedding website was also super helpful, and the cost of their services was a great value given what other coordinators charge and what they provide. When our ceremony encountered rain, they had a rain plan all prepped and ready to go. Alcohol for the reception not correct? They were on top of it before we even had an idea of how to pivot. Also, they were both so kind and made sure we were taken care of on our wedding day with so much action going on. If you're planning a wedding in Richmond and they have availability on your wedding date, don't pass up the opportunity to work with them.

I cannot recommend Emerald Events by Nilsa enough! I worked with Shannon and Kalisha and both were incredibly organized, professional, and wonderful to be around. They made sure everything ran smoothly despite several last minute COVID changes. I cannot imagine what I would've done without their help and expertise.

The absolute best! Our wedding went off without a hitch. Kalisha was absolutely wonderful from the beginning of this journey to the conclusion of our wedding. I can honestly say that I gained a new friend working with Kalisha and plan on keeping in contact with her. I have to laugh as I write this review. I initially hired Nilsa to plan my wedding but anxiety got the better of me and we ended up working on a different contract. However, that aside, expertise cannot be overlooked ever. She was fantastic in keeping me on point with what I was looking for, her detailed checklist was basically my Bible for the entire planning phase, and our check in phone calls always kept me on tip of my game, especially in terms of not forgetting important things for my out of town wedding. Her two associates who were there the day of ensured the entire event went off without a hitch and were such a blessing because I could always turn to one of them in case something needed doing or I couldn't find something. they were professional and so helpful and I'm genuinely so impressed by Nilsa and her team for how well they conducted everything behind the scenes. I may have found and booked my vendors, but they were the ones who ran the show and I am so grateful to them.

The first and best decision we made after getting engaged was hiring Emerald Events by Nilsa as our wedding planning team! As a couple who lives out of state, planning a wedding from afar is no easy feat but we were confident that Nilsa and her team were up to the task of working with our schedules to make our wedding day dreams come true. And they delivered! Shortly after we signed our agreement, Nilsa provided a detailed list of reputable wedding venues and vendors that fit our preferences and style. From there, she worked with us and our vendors to design an elegant wedding experience. On the few occasions we did visit the Richmond VA area, Nilsa was extremely accommodating by planning and participating in our in person vendor meetings. When Nilsa passed the ball to Shannon who would be our lead coordinator, we knew we were in great hands! She has a gentle spirit that will put any bride and groom at ease but she does not play when it comes to attention to detail and keeping your vendors in check. When 2020 rolled around and our plans were near finalized, we made the tough decision to postpone our wedding not once, but twice. We were saddened that we would have to delay our dream wedding. Nilsa and Shannon were there to comfort us and ensured us that everything would work out. Best of all, for both postponements, they reached out to all of our vendors to find a new date and get contracts updated. This was a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders. They truly went above and beyond what we could have ever imagined. Fast forward to the day of the wedding, the team(Shannon, Yaya,Kalisha, and Nilsa) all made sure that everyone was where they needed to be to ensure we stayed on schedule. They even coordinated Ubers to get us to and from the Capital building for our first look. The ceremony and reception spaces were set up beautifully and WOW’d our wedding guests. When the day was over, we didn’t have to worry about lifting a single finger and could just enjoy our time as husband and wife. It truly was the wedding of our dreams and it would not have been possible without Emerald Events!

Emerald Events by Nilsa is the only wedding coordinators/designers you need to book in Virginia! I can not express the amount of love and gratitude I have for Nilsa! Nilsa and Kalisha made our wedding day run seemless, absolutely perfect! They were punctual, attentive, professional, and super sweet hard workers! Nilsa is a wedding genius. She literally is always thinking two steps ahead and has a solution for everything! All our guests and wedding party complimented how well they worked! They really are passionate about what they do and take care of their brides (and grooms too)! For example, the bride, me, forgot my veil and didn’t realize it until 5 minutes before show time. Nilsa went into emergency mode and quickly calmed me and ensured I’d have my veil before I walked into the reception. Her and Kalisha did just that! They took a 40 min round trip from the venue to my home and got my veil before reception as promised. Nilsa even put it on for me. I was so grateful. Truly made my day among alllll the other amazing things she did! But don’t be like me, remember your veil please 😂 Overall, I highly recommend Emerald Events by Nilsa! I want to get married again just to work with them another time. Book them! You won’t regret it! We love you Nilsa! ❤️

Emerald Events by Nilsa came highly recommended to me from a friend of mine that was also using their planning services. From the first chat all the way until now (a month after our wedding) they have been amazing! I had the pleasure of having Kalisha and Shannon by my side to make sure everything was beyond what I imagined. I felt so comfortable letting them lead the way! Day of, her whole team were a dream to work with - with many folks in our bridal party commenting about how amazing the Emerald Event team members were! Nilsa went above and beyond our expectations, from constantly being available for meetings and questions during the month leading up to the wedding, to all the things I never would have even thought about planning wise, Nilsa and her team were absolutely phenomenal. The wedding day went smooth and we got numerous complements on how well the day went and how helpful Nilsa was. Nilsa wanted to make sure our wedding day was exactly what we wanted and she worked to make that a reality. She even thought to take pictures and videos throughout the day so that we would have some to enjoy while we waited for the ones from the photographer to come back. I attended a wedding which was organized by this fabulous company! Words can't possibly described the fabulousness of the great job this company did to make this wedding a most elaborate memory-ever.

I was back and forth about hiring a planner, but I reached out to Emerald Events by Nilsa and after speaking with them decided to hire them. Best decision EVER. I honestly could not have done it without them. They were professional, organized, so nice, and on top of things. My planner was Shannon and I can’t say enough great things about her. She went above and beyond to make sure my wedding was perfect and stress free. Shannon became the point of contact for all of my vendors and helped me plan, decorate, and come up with ideas of things to do for the wedding. I can’t think of a single thing that went wrong on our wedding day, and that is because of Emerald Events!!

I cannot recommend Nilsa highly enough! We hired Nilsa to coordinate our ceremony; Nilsa and Shannon (her assistant) made sure the entire ceremony ran perfectly and exactly on time. She not only coordinated the ceremony, but also contacted all our vendors the week before the wedding to make sure everyone was on the same page regarding the schedule for the day. The best thing I did for my wedding was hire Emerald events by Nilsa! Kalisha who was my lead coordinator deserves 100 stars. She went above and beyond to make sure my day was special and beautiful. Kalisha, and Yasmin who helped the day of couldn’t have done a more beautiful and professional job. I was sad to have to stop having to talk to them everyday!! I highly suggest anyone who is not the fence about needing a coordinator 100% do it. Even though I have a wedding of only 65 people there were so many things that needed to go into the planning that I did not realize and Kalisha was there to guide me and be the amazing lady she is. My husband, and family were absolutely impressed and loved them.

We contracted Nilsa to handle the month-of coordination for our sort-of destination wedding in western Virginia. She really came through to help us with the details and contacting the various vendors, especially the caterer and the state park staff where we got married. She did a phenomenal job easing our worries, especially since we were working on this from the West coast. Her positivity, flexibility, and professionalism speak for themselves. I would absolutely hire her and her team for another event. They rock!

Emerald Events and Nilsa did a fantastic job helping us make our wedding and welcome party vision come together! The venue we choose for our wedding and reception was not frequently used for weddings, and it was invaluable to have Nilsa and Emerald Events as the point person making sure all of the details fell into place. The organizational skills of Nilsa and her team are fantastic and really helped us feel more at ease and prepared going into the weekend. They helped make sure everything about the event went absolutely smoothly, from thinking through big details to helping with all the little things we needed a hand with on the big day. What's more, they were absolutely wonderful people to work with as we planned our big day in the months and weeks leading up to our event. I would absolutely recommend them for anyone thinking of using a coordinator or planner for their wedding!

Nilsa, Tessa and the crew were the absolute best! We gave them a tall order to coordinate not only a wedding and reception but also a 120-person welcome party the night before wedding festivities, all on the private campus of Woodberry Forest School. They were professional, kind, excellent at that fine line of organizing without being overbearing, and kept a watchful eye on absolutely everything. They even helped us put together almost 100 welcome bag gifts for the guests and made sure each guest received it. Well done all around so I highly recommend Nilsa if you'd like to feel well cared for and worry free at your event!

My wife and I had one of the most romantic and, shall I say, unique wedding receptions on July 20th 2019. It was not only because the bride and groom performed four unprecedented ballroom dance showcases at the reception but we had the steady and competent hands of EMERALD EVENTS BY NILSA steering our wedding program to a massive success. We hired Emerald Events by Nilsa after interviewing several other prospects for the Day of Wedding Coordinator. We have no regrets but all praises to this amazing team. Our expectations were exceeded, and that is huge, given that my wife and I are quite meticulous. Kalisha Crump was the point person at our wedding and she and her team member were professional, knowledgeable and committed to make us have a stress-free wedding. Cudos to Kalisha and Tessa!! We could not have done it without a Day of Wedding planner and we definitely could not have done it with out you two! We are super pleased with the pre-planning. We were extremely happy with the rehearsal and we are still on a high on how you coordinated our vendors, participants and you take the stress out of a wedding by making sure the wedding went based on our vision. My wife was able to to focus on being beautiful and I was able to focus on her and remain in awe of being the luckiest man alive as I steer with loving gaze. Wedding coodinators are important for the smooth running of a wedding. However, I would advocate that Day of wedding coordinator is necessary for medium and large weddings. I would recommend Emerald Events by Nilsa all over again.

Nilsa was so professional and easy to work with. On the wedding day she did even more than I thought to make everything go perfectly. I didn't have to think or worry about anything because we had planned it all together ahead of time. On top of that all my family commented about how nice she and Shannon were. She is very responsive to call and email which as anyone who has planned a wedding before knows is extremely important. First and foremost, my husband and I agreed that the best money we spent was on Nilsa and her team to help us stay organized and on top of things the day of our wedding. I wish I had booked her for the whole last month! We cannot say enough amazing things about this sweet, fun lady and what a phenomenal job she did for us. Nilsa is not only organized to the max, but she is kind, funny, and a breath of fresh air (especially when the nerves and jitters kick in). Nilsa made sure we ate at our reception, kept events moving, and wrangled family like a seasoned pro (which she is, obviously!)! Her assistant, Kalisha, was awesome as well and made sure our reception area was all set and ready for the party! Hiring a wedding planner was a good idea; hiring Nilsa was the best idea!

Nilsa and Shannon were everything and more I was hoping for! If there were any problems on the wedding day I didn't know about them, which is exactly what I wanted in a day of coordinator! Do yourself a favor-- don’t bother finishing this review. Just contact Nilsa now and set up a meeting ASAP. You won’t regret it. My husband and I hosted a “low-key, easy” engagement party that turned into an absolute nightmare. We realized we were in way over our heads just trying to host 50 people in a backyard. After our third fight the morning of the party, we decided we needed to find a way to make room in our budget for a planner. Nilsa was the first, and only, planner we met with. She immediately made us feel calm and excited for the wedding, rather than just stressed for the planning. She somehow simultaneously exudes an attitude of “this is a BIG. DEAL. and needs to be perfect!” but also “I’ve done this a million times, it’s no problem.” She’s got a few differently-priced plans, we went for the mid-tier “partial planning” option which allowed us set monthly meetings, unlimited calls/texts/emails, and day-of-coordination. She was very affordable compared to many planners, and her services frankly were priceless. Throughout the planning process, she was a calming and positive presence. When our caterer fell through and I wanted to cancel the whole she-bang, she immediately sent me a list of recommended caterers and assured me that we’d find someone else we’d be happy with. Lo and behold, we had another caterer lined up within a week. She gave me recommendations for every service we needed, and managed to convey their usefulness without ever making me feel pressured or obligated to go with who she recommended. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, she assured me that on the big day, I wouldn’t have to do anything but show up. I did not believe her at all, as I’m pretty high-strung and controlling. I sat with my phone next to me all morning, waiting to get a panicked call, and resisting numerous urges to call her and check in. Neither of those things happened-- I had a lovely morning, and showed up to our venue and SQUEALED audibly when I saw how her and her assistant had set up the room. As promised, my husband and I didn’t have to lift a finger all day. She checked in with us a few times to make sure we were staying on schedule (which we adjusted to our needs) and….yeah, I don’t even know what to say about it except that she was right, all we had to do was show up. I can not recommend this woman and her company enough. We went into the planning process with NO IDEA what we wanted, and she helped us shape a beautiful and unique day that was perfectly suited to us. For 11 months, she was a voice of reason, a calm in the storm, a competent presence and, most importantly, a smiling face. As I noted, her prices are quite reasonable. But there is no way to account for her true value; for her smiles, for her assurances, for her positivity, her calming nature, and her general vibe of “I got this; you got this; WE got this.”

Nilsa and her staff are the BEST EVER..... Not only were they great they became family to my wife and I. We never had to worry or anything because they were always on top of everything. Everything Nilsa and her team promised they made happen. They went above and Beyond which we love them for. The best team in the DMW area don’t miss out on someone great right here. If I could give more stars I would because Emerald Events by Nilsa made my wedding day perfect!! I booked Nilsa for day-of planning and she took all of my vendors I had booked (even recommended some when I needed help), questions, and concerns and smoothed everything out for me. Nilsa is the sweetest and most patient person I ever worked with and gave me great advice and was always available for me at any time. What I loved the most is that her team organized everything from decorations to my send off and even safely packed all of my things after the wedding so that I could fly off to my honeymoon and not have to lift a finger! I HIGHLY recommend Emerald Events by Nilsa, you will not regret it!

For starters Nilsa is amazing, she has a great personality, it felt like I'd known her forever. She's attentive, responsive, and very professional. I live and got married in New York. Nilsa took care of everything for me from hundreds of miles away. I’ve heard brides say how hard it was planning their wedding but I didn’t experience any of that. Nilsa took all the stress away from me, took care of every little detail, and allowed me to enjoy my special day. Her prices are so affordable!
