There are a lot of talented photogs in the Akron/Cleveland area, and we probably wouldn’t have made the wrong choice with any of them, but when we talked to Emily, we immediately loved her matter-of-fact confidence and calmness! For someone like me, an artist who has a ton of ideas and a LOT of excitement around her wedding, and for my husband who is a veeerrry go with the flow kinda guy, Emily was the perfect choice! She was direct, honest, caring, and kept us on track throughout the whole process, but especially on wedding day itself! Our families are huge, and our guest list was almost 300 people. We wanted to do large extended family photos for all 4 sides of our families, and she made the process smooth and painless. She kept the day moving, made sure we got the important shots that would be meaningful for us, and helped us make gametime decisions when we were running a tad behind our schedule. Overall, I felt confident that we were going to have a lot of amazing pictures! After the wedding, we only got 5 shots as sneak peeks, which was definitely less than I anticipated, but we got them literally the next day, so that was awesome! Then she sent a highlight gallery a little less than 2 months later with about 100 photos. That was really fun because we were able to use some wedding pics for our holiday card!! Then we got our full gallery, and let me tell you, we are STILL blown away! We got over 2000 photos back which she says is more than usual because I am an artist and hand painted a lot of the decor for the wedding, and she was SO thorough in capturing those details!! I have loved getting to share these photos with family and friends, and we are so beyond pleased that we get to have these pictures for the rest of our lives! We definitely hope to be able to hire Emily again for other big milestones throughout our lives:)

iting experience to kick off our engagement. But she then helped with my day-of timeline, working with my coordinator and me to make sure we captured all of the important moments. She and her team got beautiful detail shots and she helped keep us on time with first looks and travel offsite (which can get pretty hectic!) Emily went so far above and beyond her duties to get us our dream shots and I will forever be grateful to her! She expertly took control during the family portraits and somehow managed to get beautiful shots of large groups of family members and uncooperative children within the allotted time.
Finally, our images are stunning and I continue to look back through the massive catalog and relive our special day. She’s done a brilliant job with editing and printing of our urgently needed prints and I can’t wait to work with her to build our albums and enlarged prints. She captured our day for a lifetime and was the best investment we could have made for our wedding day.

earth personality and knowledge of the industry were immediately evident to me. Our engagement shoot came with our package and this was the perfect way to get to know her and capture some truly stunning photos that we ended up using for our save the dates. My now husband was so nervous before our engagement shoot because he has rarely been in front of the camera. We were given the perfect amount of direction while it still feeling like genuine, intimate moments between the two of us. By the time our wedding came along, it felt like Emily was a close friend. She worked closely with my planner and I to create a seamless photo timeline for the day. I had numerous tricky family situations to navigate that required a lot of sensitivity. She knocked it out of the park. Several times throughout the day, I felt like I could just exchange glances with her and she already knew what I was thinking and/or needed. Whether that was a switch up on positioning, a break, a sip of water, veil or dress adjustment, a different angle, etc. She (as well as her 2 assistant shooters) made everyone, including myself and my husband, feel so comfortable. And you would not have known at the end of the night that she had been with us for 16 hours!!! She continued to radiate positivity and good vibes nonstop the entire day and night.
When we got back our photos, we were completely blown away. They looked like photos out of the wedding magazines I had been flipping through the last year and a half. Each photo told a unique story and portrayed that particular moment in time on our wedding day beautifully.
All of our family and friends continue to rave about our photographer 6 months later. We are so grateful and cannot wait to use Emily Millay’s talent for all of our future milestones to come!!

Since we were planning from out of state, we didn’t get a chance to meet Emily until our wedding weekend. She made a point of coming to meet us the night before so she could make use feel extra comfortable and take some tester shots. which OF COURSE I am still swooning over our photos. And let's face it, the photo results are a huge piece of it - but even more than just that, Emily became a friend throughout the process and on the day was able to give me such a peace of mind amidst stress and chaos. Here are a few ways that Emily was amazing, and that I think are KEY to a great photographer.
PHOTOS – Already said it, but worth saying again. Everyone who has seen them agrees they are magazine worthy! She also gave us such great variety of angles and backdrops in the shots. And god bless her second shooter (sister) who wondered to the balcony of our church and got some amazing aerial shots.
Keeping Control – She was able to keep family members moving and on track as well as hungry groomsmen who were over it. She constantly made sure to remind people to empty their pockets, straighten their ties, etc. – which those little things that make such a big difference in the photo result. Her persistence really benefitted us in the end!
Timing – Even though her contract is by the hour, she does not make you feel any stress of time on the day. She stayed extra for us until we both collectively felt like the best parts of the day were captured.
Electronic Delivery – The photo download process was so easy for us and our family. The link was also so great to send to aunts, uncles, etc. so they could scroll through and look for themselves.
Photo Reveal – Emily invited us to her studio to pop some bubbly and watch a reel of all our photos. Yes ALL. We sat for an hour+ reminiscing of the day as we saw the photos. It was such a sweet way to cap off years (literally) of wedding planning.
