Not only is she a great photographer, she is also a genuinely wonderful human. I lost my mom early in 2020 and Emma sent over a lovely care package and note. Totally unexpected and just shows you how she will go the extra mile. My husband and I are a bit camera shy but she did a great job getting us out of our shells. She is incredibly creative and shared great ideas that lead to some of our favorite shots. She helped us plan out photo time so the we'd have the perfect balance of subjects, styles, and locations, and then executed that plan efficiently, while making the whole thing feel like a breeze. I'm positive that a wedding day with Emma was at least 60% less stressful than a wedding day without her. The complete gallery was returned to us in a timely fashion, with all the photos selected, processed, and presented to give us the perfect portrait of our wedding. If we are able to have our planned larger-scale celebration next year, there is no one besides Emma Mullins that we would want as our photographer. Anyone else would feel like a step down. We ultimately were able to get married in a small ceremony at Starved Rock State Park in IL, and Emma went above and beyond and drove out there a few weeks before the wedding to scout out some beautiful spots for photos.  During our wedding day, we had photography services with Emma and videography services with her colleague Carlos. Their team helped us feel excited and confident throughout the whole wedding day. Emma's positivity and energy helped us have SO much fun during our photo sessions. Carlos was able to creatively capture video from the full day and we were so impressed by the sound and visual quality of the videos. Emma captured the colors, joy and essence of the day in her photos. Looking back at the photos and videos brings us and our families so much joy. Emma and Carlos sent us highlight photos and a highlight video in just a couple weeks (we paid extra for expedited delivery) , and then the full set of photos and the full video came to us a couple months later. We LOVED working with Emma and her team, and we definitely recommend her for anyone in the Chicago area. Well worth the money! P.S. She took this and turned our dream vision into a reality. She was able to do this after we completely changed our wedding due to Covid19. We went from a 200 wedding in Chicago to 50 person in the suburbs. Emma worked with us to create a special package so we could have her on our wedding day and our reception that will be in June 2021. On the wedding day Emma was a super hero. The wedding way was chaotic and nothing like our plan A, but Emma made our photos look like we had our original wedding. Emma was focused in on our needs for the wedding day, firm when she needed to be, and calm and relaxing to capture the tender loving moments of the day. I could spend all day writing about how wonderful Emma is. So if you are looking for a photographer, I promise you there is no need to look any further.

Beginning with the photos of me getting ready, Emma was creative and photographed the sweetest moments with my family. On our December wedding, the weather was surprisingly in the 40's, and Emma was so flexible that most of our photos were outside! She picked a perfect spot for our first look, and took some very neat, urban pictures of my husband and me. Emma photographed the entire event, and I still can't believe the amazing photographs she captured! The photos from our first dance and the horah are spectacular, and she truly listened to exactly what we wanted. We really didn't want many "serious" photos or photos that made us feel goofy, and Emma definitely listened to us. At the end of the evening, Emma took us outside to take some night photos. Every time I look at these photos, I tear up! They are beautiful, and show our love in such a lovely way. The night photos have some really cool features, and Emma's talent shows through. Emma sent us a preview of our photos while we were still on our honeymoon, which was such a treat! After receiving all of our photos, we love using the website. It is easy to use, and share with our family and friends. We can't wait to order photos soon, and decorate our home with her beautiful work!

e wedding, we knew Emma had us taken care of and that everything would be perfect. It's funny, after the portraits were completed, I don't even really remember Emma being there, but she obviously was because there are photos to prove it! She captured everything we wanted without being the least bit intrusive or interrupting the flow of the evening. My only advice would be to have a second photographer for at least the beginning of the reception. We had a small wedding and didn't think it would be necessary. I feel like Emma was a bit crazed trying to capture the photos we wanted as well as capture the impromptu moments with our guests. She couldn't be in 2 places at once, so I feel like the second photographer would have been a great help to her and made it a lot easier. This is by no means a criticism of Emma, she handled things perfectly, just a lesson learned!

While we got married in Chicago, we live overseas; Emma had no problem working through Skype and email to create our wedding day timeline, schedule our engagement shoot, and get a better sense of what we wanted. Emma was the first one we reached out to because we loved her gallery and blog so much (criteria #1), and she was an absolute delight to chat with, so we knew right away she’d satisfy #2. We signed her up immediately. We did an engagement session with her to get to know each other (highly recommended!), and those photos were absolutely perfect and used for our website and invite. For our wedding, her husband served as the second photographer. Emma worked with the bride all day, and then her husband worked with the groom for getting ready shots. They were both a delight. For the ceremony and reception, we honestly barely even noticed them, yet based on the photos, they didn’t miss a single part of the night. And towards the end, we were basically just calling over groups of friends and family to take group shots, and Emma could not have been more patient with the admittedly rowdy crowd (kind of like herding cats). Emma was so incredibly patient. It has been such a pleasure going through all the photos. They say a picture is worth a thousand words – well Emma has given us millions and millions of sweet, beautiful, and memorable words with all her wonderful photos. We are so looking forward to the final physical album. On top of all the high level attributes of our experience, she met all the “check the box” elements of a wedding photographer as well: on-time, patient, invisible but present, and so incredibly calming during sometimes awkward one-on-one photo sessions. point, we were maybe 6 weeks out from the wedding. Emma was available! Score one for us! We met with her via Skype and chatted; she was friendly, organized, and on the ball. She shared with us initial quotes, asked questions about things we hadn't thought about yet (since we had only been planning for a few weeks), and she talked us through what to expect. Once we selected her, she sent us a contract and a questionnaire. We filled it out, sent her a pinterest image board, and sent her a timeline for the day once we had an idea what it would look like. We met with her in person about 4 weeks later at my mom's place, which is where we had our first look. She was on time, we went through everything, and came away with a solid plan for the day. We talked about rain briefly, but decided we'd cross that bridge if we came to it. One week before the wedding... rain in the forecast. Each day closer to the wedding, it looked worse and worse. We had an indoor wedding but were planning on shooting at Wrigley, under the El, at murals, and at Montrose Harbor. Emma came up with several rain plan options for us to choose from, and we were set. Once we had that in place, I decided not to worry about it any more. Day of the wedding- Emma was on time, began shooting the details, and took pics of me getting ready. She has a wonderful, friendly demeanor about her that puts everyone at ease- our older parents, my young nieces, my dog, and specifically ME--- I am photo shy and do not like to be center of attention. As the day went on, she directed us subtly or not so subtly, but never in our face intrusively. We took pics with our dog after the first look, at Wrigley (she is fearless and stood in the middle of the street), at Salvage One (she got us a permit there last minute, the pics are awesome), by some murals, by the El, and at our venue. During the ceremony and reception, she was everywhere but not intrusive. Right away after our wedding, she posted some pics to Instagram and FB. We were so excited to be on our honeymoon and start to see a flavor of our pics. She shared a sneak peek album of about 65 pictures a week after our wedding and they are just amazing. We can't wait for more! As we planned the wedding more, we realized we'd need her for longer. She worked with us to help meet our needs. Emma is TALENTED. PROFESSIONAL. And she was just FUN to spend our wedding day with. She captured the most magical day of our lives!

We Skyped Emma and adored her easy going demeanor and professionalism right away, and ended up signing on with her without interviewing any other photographers. During planning, she was so helpful and looked at my wedding timeline to double check it made sense and made recommendations about best times for photos. She was laid back, so we were laid back, and she just captured pictures and he and I were talking, walking, and doing our thing. She sent us a "sneak peek" of some of our photos already (just a week later!) and I'm in love with every single one of them. We loved getting the little peeks at our photos while we were waiting (though not for long - we were so impressed with her turnaround time!) for our final gallery. The entire finished gallery was beautiful and had so many great shots from getting ready, our ceremony, and reception. We would highly recommend Emma Mullins Photography to anyone getting married!

That was a great way for us to get to know each other, and to know what to expect on the wedding day. In addition to being extremely flexible, Emma was incredibly friendly. She took time to get to know many of our guests and they still tell us how much they enjoyed meeting and spending time with her. But most important of all were the pictures. Emma perfectly documented our day. She knew exactly what details to focus on but also captured the big picture (no pun intended). One thing that was unmistakable throughout our time with Emma was her true passion for what she does. There were countless times that I can remember her getting truly excited about finding a spot to take a picture or looking at a picture just after she took it with a big smile on her face and telling us "I can't wait for you guys to see these!" When someone has the enthusiasm about their work that Emma does, it shows in the results. We couldn't be happier with the way our photos came out. Looking through them is the closest thing to time travel - they really do transport you back to that place and time. We were incredibly lucky to have Emma photograph our day.
