We had George as our DJ and it was so bad that we are getting a full refund and our venue refuses to work with Encore again.
When we booked with Encore we got an email to fill out...
a form for all of our music requests. The form only allowed for 50 songs total for cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. My fiancé and I had a specific playlist for cocktail hour/dinner that we wanted (mostly 40s music) and had worked really hard on songs for the dancing. I also had a piano version of a song that I purchased from the pianist for walking down the aisle. I couldn’t find anywhere to send links or upload anything so we sent a message in our online portal asking to set up a call and explained what we were wanting. He just replied to put the songs in the form. Finally, we were able to get him to agree to a call. He seemed upset that we wanted a specific playlist for cocktail hour (he said he usually plays a range of today’s top hits, which we were not ok with). We also told him (and wrote in our form) that we wanted the multigenerational dancing music to be played first at the reception to get everyone dancing and then get to more of the 2000s later in the night when the older crowd gets tired. Remember this because it’s important. We finally figured out how to get him links and everything, but we left the call feeling uneasy.
Cut to the day of the wedding. There was some little stuff, like he forgot the lapel mics, so our officiant had to hold a mic for the ceremony and the ceremony music was incredibly quiet. We also had to wait a good 15-20 seconds in silence after kissing and being declared as man and wife for him to play our recessional music. For our grand entrance, we had Baba O’Riley as our song and asked him to tell everyone to turn their phone flashlights on, just like at an Avs game between the 2nd and 3rd period. Right before the grand entrance started, he came to check in with us and we reminded him again to ask everyone to turn on their phone flashlights. Unfortunately, he didn’t do that and the music was so quiet, it was nothing like we’d asked for.
For the reception, he wasn’t mixing any music. A song would play for the entirety and then we’d have a few seconds of silence before another song came on. After the first two songs, I looked at the DJ table and he wasn’t even there. This really disappointed me. It seemed like he just hit play and left. This next part was insane. My mom asked him to play more multigenerational music (he hadn’t followed our request and started off with 2000s hip hop, so the dance floor cleared quickly). He told her no requests. When she told him that it was in our instructions to him and that’s what we wanted, he got pissed, unplugged the speakers and lights and stormed off. So we were without music and lights while our coordinator found him. When he did come back, he again hit play on a playlist and left. I have pictures to prove that he wasn’t at the table. Eventually he came back, but wasn’t playing the music on our list, so my fiancé spent the entire night requesting songs to play next to make sure it was good. Then, an hour before our reception ended, he told us it was the last song. Our coordinator had to physically show him our contract with the timing for him to agree to keep playing.
Plugging our phone in and hitting play on Spotify with the fading turned on would’ve been better. George was unprofessional, incredibly difficult to communicate with, set in his ways and rude.
I got married in September and the DJ DEFINITELY missed the mark. There were numerous mistakes, he informed someone close to me that “the bride really doesn’t like surprises”
That...
could not be farther from the truth and because of this, he decided to not go along with the surprise announcement in the appropriate way. He also just seemed irritated with me. In particular when he set out a chair for a garter toss that I told him wasn’t happening.
I had a beautiful wedding, and lionsgate was amazing. I just wish I went a different route with the DJ
In response to the review posted on 9/24/24, I was a staff member at the wedding and feel the need to clarify a few things. The intros went as planned, and while there were minor t...
echnical issues, there were no "tinder notifications", everything came together, and the couple seemed happy.
From my perspective, George, the DJ, was professional and approachable all night. The lighting looked fine, and the music kept the dance floor lively, with no complaints from the guests I spoke to.
As for the serious accusations, I didn't witness anything inappropriate. The review doesn't seem to reflect the overall experience, which was a beautiful and successful event.
A fundamental failure of a DJ.
A couple of weeks ago I attended a wedding where George was the DJ. Amazing wedding, on time, professional, and beautiful despite George’s best effo...
rts.
For some context, I’ve worked in the events industry and wedding industry for the last 15 years. George was a colossal failure on nearly every level. I am friends with the bride and mother of the bride and was involved as they attempted to get George on board for the wedding they wanted.
At the most basic level the function of a DJ is to play recorded music to the audience. George failed at this. The wedding got Alan Roach (yes Alan f$&king Roach, the voice of the Super Bowl and Stanley Cup Playoffs) to record the intros for the wedding party to the reception. When the client emailed them to George and asked if he could play them his answer was that he didn’t know how. Yeah, I don’t understand either. After some conversation he agreed to play the intros. Excellent. Problem solved. Nope.
On the wedding day George presented as a swarmy, inauthentic DJ who treated nearly everyone as another cookie-cutter person in his cookie-cutter life. At best he was dismissive and unaware to anyone’s concerns and at worst, rude and arrogant.
The trouble really started though after the ceremony when the intros for the wedding party to the reception were due to be played. This is when his fundamental inability to be a functional DJ or partner in a life-changing event moved from our inboxes to the experience of every guest.
As George prepared to play the recorded intros he plugged his phone into the speaker system, and what ensued was an absolute calamity. For the next 10 minutes he played the intros over some sort of dance music (not requested), while his phone continued to make notification sounds, which I can only assume were tinder notifications.
I was aware of what was supposed to happen and what actually happened, but before you assume that I was the only one that noticed you have to understand that literally every single person in the room was looking around in confusion. I answered questions for my table for the next 45minutes and it’s all anyone talked about all night.
The rest of the night? Just as bad. From charging extra for market lights to failing to turn off the house lights so the dance floor felt like an elementary school cafeteria. From playing nothing on the supplied playlists from the happy couple to evacuating the entire party to patio where the music wasn’t so loud and abrasive. From him being dismissive and rude, to reports of him doing lines behind the bar, absolutely nothing demonstrates professionalism or even approachable behavior.
If you are recruiting for a Comcast call center and you need someone who can be inauthentic, pushy, and wildly incompetent while taking way too much of your money and time, George is definitely your guy. If you need a kind, flexible and professional DJ for your wedding I’d look somewhere else…and if you were one of those tinder notifications, I’d think again…
Is this written in haste or anger? No. It’s been weeks. I didn’t spend any money, it didn’t cost me anything, and the couple are happily married. I wrote this because what happened was broken. Wedding aren’t cheap, entertainment isn’t cheap and unless someone says something, how would you know? There are plenty of great options out there, go pursue them!

ver met in person before the wedding but I never felt that it was necessary based on his enthusiasm and professionalism I sensed in our other communications. George was really helpful to us in regard to timeline of the wedding day as well. He recommended some things to us and he was in contact with the photographer as well to get everything sorted out. On the day of the wedding, George was on top of EVERYTHING. He really knows what he's doing! I felt at ease the during the whole event because George was making sure everything went as planned, informing us of what was going to happen next so there were no surprises, and helping us figure out where we were supposed to be and what we were supposed to be doing. He played great music, people were dancing all night! If you can, choose George! He will not disappoint!

y of, and she was out of this world! She was constantly checking in, being totally flexible and shifting things around as the day never runs on time. We had plenty of announcements and guests always knew what was going on, and Kay was also great at reading the room for playing songs from our favorites list vs what people were requesting. We had people dancing all the way to the end of the reception, which is exactly what we wanted! We couldn't have asked for anything more :)
George of Encore Professional Disc Jockeys was awesome! He provided the music for a friend's son's wedding and it was much more than music that he offered. His DJ talents were ...
top notch, keeping the flow the reception to just what we were looking for. The mood ranged from soft music during dinner, to exciting when the entire wedding party entered the room, to fun and just the right volume for dancing! George's ability to keep the entire room involved and entertained was excellent and he did so without taking away the limelight from the bride and groom. The selection of music was perfectly varied, his announcements were timely, and his professionalism was greatly appreciated. Highly recommended!
