I had a terrible experience with Debra and Samantha. The original person I had booked to do my hair and makeup had an emergency and had to cancel just a few days before the wedding...
. I was so grateful when Debra said that she and Samantha had availability. The had a prior commitment earlier in the morning, but said they could arrive at 10am. This was a little later than we would have liked, but Debra said that as long as my bridal party knew what they wanted, we would have no trouble with timing.
At 10:15, Debra texted saying they were just leaving their prior appointment and would not arrive until 11. However, they actually did not arrive until 11:30 - an hour and a half after promised. They said the delay was because their first appointment ran late and because there was traffic. That is an unacceptable excuse to me. They should have made sure to leave the previous appointment on-time or should not have committed to doing my wedding. Additionally, it should not have been a surprise that there was traffic heading to Boulder on a beautiful summer weekend.
As professionals, I had trusted that they would arrive when they said they would. This was extremely stressful for me on my wedding day. I had planned a nice, relaxing morning. Instead, we sat in the hotel room for an hour and a half wondering when our hair and makeup team would arrive.
When Debra and Sam did arrive, they expressed very little urgency. They kept saying things like "we can stay as long as it takes to finish." This made no sense to me because even though they could stay, the bridal party obviously couldn't - we had a wedding to attend.
Fortunately, my maid of honor is skilled in doing hair and was able to all of my bridesmaids' hair. This was so disappointing to me, as I had wanted to pamper my maid of honor that morning, and she ended up working instead.
Debra did my hair and it was beautiful. The makeup for three of my four bridesmaids also looked nice. However, there was an issue with the make up for my fourth bridesmaid. There was a lot of grey fallout from her eye makeup under her eyes. Instead of cleaning this up, Sam airbrushed over it, giving her a raccoon-like look. Sam didn't seem to understand what was wrong and it took all of us to explain what needed to be changed.
Sam also had a lot trouble with my makeup. We did airbrush makeup, which i have done before, so I am familiar with how it looks when done correctly. Instead of a smooth finish, I had creases all over my face. Additionally, the colors Sam chose did not seem right for my skin tone. I am in my 20s but suddenly looked like I had aged to my 40s. I wanted my look to be very natural and fresh. Instead, my face had this grey-ish tinge and my eyes ended up much heavier than the pictures I had shown of what I wanted. Sam ultimately did adjust the greyness of my skin, but only after denying for quite a while that anything looked off.
Even with my maid of honor doing hair, we ended up leaving late. This put stress on the rest of the day and also resulted in us having to pay several of our vendors overtime since it threw off our timing.
In my opinion, there is no excuse for this type of service. Because of their tardiness, we were not charged for my hair. However, this does not make up for the stress it caused or the poor quality of the makeup. Debra and Sam over-committed themselves which is absolutely unacceptable for something as important as a wedding.
I recently finished my hair and makeup trial with Envision your I do and I can firmly say I will NOT be giving them my business for my wedding day and I would STRONGLY recommend ag...
ainst giving them yours due to these 3 factors. During my trials they exhibited a complete lack of costumer service, they used cheap makeup products you could pick up at a drug store, and they exhibited terrible time management.
This was a paid service that was meant to nail down the look for my wedding day, and instead of finishing the job, I was told that they didn’t have time to finish the service I had paid for. They said we could talk about it later and yet 3.5 days later there is no follow up.
I booked a hair trial first and Debra was late. We agreed on 9 am and she was about 30 minutes late. When I booked my trial I had let her know that i have A LOT of hair. That’s what I usually tell stylists to give them a warning. On top of being late, she wildly underestimated the time it would take to complete my updo. My bridal shower was scheduled for after the trial so I really needed this trial to be done on time. I asked her how long would it take to do my hair and she estimated about 35 minutes. About 2 hours later we were done. Not only was she late, not only was her time estimate completely off, and not only was I late to my own bridal shower but she was also very curt with me as I tried to give her feedback during my trial. And in the end she did not accomplished the look I wanted. I decided to book a makeup trial and give them the benefit of the doubt. I booked my appointment with Samantha. I liked Samantha and I thought we were on the same page about the look i wanted. I showed her pictures and she verbalized the look I was going for. I had reservations about the makeup look as the trial went on but we addressed those issues. When it was time to do the airbrushed foundation I was super excited because many of my friends had it done for their wedding and it looked very good. When she did the foundation, the whole look just fell apart. My face looked cakey, streaky, and grey. It was a super uneven application. Not to mention I looked like a zombie. I couldn’t even recognize myself and I kept mentioning that but I felt ignored. I was told the look would come together when she put on the setting spray that is meant for theater actors. As she moved onto my eyes, I noticed the bottom liner was very dark. When I mentioned this, Debra chimed in and said “At this point, she cannot fix this. We have another engagement and we have to go.” I had to ask them to put the setting spray on and some lipstick bc my lips were covered with foundation.
This is not a good business. Definitely not customer focused. My eyes were tearing up the last 10 minutes of the appointment and they just ignored me. I went straight to sephora to see if they could fix my makeup since my bachelorette party was that afternoon. As soon as I sat down to wipe it all off, MANY makeup artists at sephora commented on the poor job that was done. They said the foundation did not match my skin, I looked ashy, and it was very uneven and cakey. Thankfully sephora was able to fix my foundation quickly. I would NOT recommend this business for your wedding day. The trials were paid services yet it felt very rushed and we never nailed down the look I was going for.
Deb was amazing and I am so happy she did my hair and makeup for our wedding!
