My wife and I had the honor of hiring Erin to be our trusted photographer for our wedding in September of 2023. She is first and foremost a genuinely kind, upbeat and extremely flexible person to work with. Our wedding venue was unconventional, as was our ceremony and reception and the lighting was less than ideal, however, this was not an obstacle for Erin. One of her greatest professional qualities as a photographer is her ability to capture the essence and emotion of each special moment. The final photos that we received from Erin are simply stunning. The colors and lighting that Erin was able to capture are so vivid and quite honestly belong in a top magazine layout. Mostly, we truly enjoyed working with Erin; she was not just another vendor at our wedding but rather she felt more like one of our beloved and cherished guests. We highly recommend Erin for any occasion; her expertise in photography combined with her delightful personal qualities make her the perfect package. I would hire Erin over and over and over again for anything I would want professionally photographed! Erin shot both our engagement and wedding photos, and not only was the quality of the photos amazing, she took so much extra time and care to make sure they turned out just as we had envisioned! She even found a specific TREE I had seen in pictures in the area but didn't know the location, I was absolutely amazed, she made us feel so special and truly wanted to bring our visions to life :) Her responses were always quick and she was always very organized and took away so much of my stress about getting all the photos we wanted. She worked so well with everyone on the day of the wedding and we have since gotten so many compliments from family and friends about the amazing job she did. My husband and I fell in love with Erin's photos on her webpage; her aesthetic is exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Erin is so professional and does absolutely beautiful work but is also so warm, caring and positive. Erin truly wants what is best for the bride and groom; she scheduled a day for the three of us to tour the venue together! She did this so she knew ahead of time where the best shots would be taken and at what times would be best. She is highly detailed and thinks of every possible shot and wants feedback from the bride and groom in terms of what will make their wedding photos special and personalized. It is so rare to find a vendor that truly has the best interest of the bride and groom in mind. We are so incredibly happy with the photos that Erin took at our wedding. They are so beautiful that our friends and family literally gasped when they saw them!

Erin was incredibly sweet and she and her second photographer did such a great job for our traditional Chinese team ceremony/Chinese restaurant reception! She was so gentle and yet so effective at maneuvering my large extended family for family photos, and never forgot about all the portions that we wanted captured throughout the day, because I definitely would have forgotten myself! The access to the photos afterwards via Google photos was also such a blessing - not to mention her rates were so reasonable for such a long day (we needed her for 12 hours)!

Erin Shimazu has been such a joy to work with! Her photos for my wedding came out breathtakingly beautiful. I can't express this enough--having her as a photographer was one of the best wedding decisions I made. Her attention to detail is stupendous--and she is so kind and responsive. To be honest, I was probably the one who was harder to work with because she had to remind me of my own photo/planning to do list so many times, but she was always so accommodating. When we met before the wedding, she made me feel comfortable and helped make the photography go seamlessly on our wedding day at The California Club. There was a moment when I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the time taking a picture I had requested due to timing, and she reminded me how important it was to me, led my husband and I to the photo, and it really ended up being one of favorites.

It was such a pleasure to work with Erin these past few years! We actually hired her in 2019 for our 2020 wedding, but of course, COVID-19 happened and we were forced to postpone. We were so fortunate to have her photograph our courthouse wedding in June of 2020 (distanced, of course)! And when we finally set a date on our postponement, we did 2 engagement shoots in early 2022. The day of our wedding itself, everything went smoothly. As a couple, we didn't really have a huge vision on what we wanted, but we gave Erin a general guideline on what shots we wanted and how we wanted the day to go. For us, it was mainly, "Please tell us exactly what to do because we both feel awkward posing for shots!" When we got our final shots, I was pleased to see some shots that we didn't even ask for, but was happy that Erin thought to do those shots (like posing our rings with our Pokemon stuffed animals!) Through all our photo sessions with Erin, we were both really happy with working with her. My advice to any prospective people reading this: Discuss your expectations with your photographer thoroughly, and you will walk away happy. Thanks so much, Erin!

Erin is sunshine in human form; I simply cannot recommend her enough. My husband and I worked with her to take four sets of photos: 1) a black & white indoor maternity shoot, 2) a park maternity shoot, 3) a lakeside maternity shoot with our dogs and 4) a golden hour beach maternity shoot. The photos that Erin captured and edited for us were absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been looking at them non-stop since we received them. Erin is such an amazing nature photographer in SoCal. We had engagement photos done with her and the pictures turned out AMAZING! We've been parents for 3 years, the photos made us look like we never had kids and were still in our puppy love stage. We wished that she could be our wedding photographer, but due to COVID, she couldn't travel to the state that we got married at. So glad that we found her! We will definitely save her contact if we ever wanted to do anymore nature photo session in California.

Erin was truly amazing. She had the photo itinerary down to a "t." In fact, she was so prepared we even got time to mingle with our wedding guests at the cocktail hour, rather than continue taking photos. She also did our engagement photos which turned out amazing.

It was amazing to work with Erin! We're not a couple who are particularly comfortable in front of the camera, but she made us both feel at ease. She was prompt in her communication and replies, which helped relieve some stress during planning. When we first spoke with her, we clicked right away and that made bouncing ideas for our engagement shoot really easy. She was very understanding and we felt like collaborators. On the day of, she was able to quickly adapt to our crazy schedule and we appreciated her calm demeanor. It helped to put us at ease as well. Lastly, her photographic style is what drew us to her in the first lace and what she captured was awesome. The end result is better than we could have imagined and we were super glad to have worked with Erin.

I LOVE ERIN!!❤️❤️❤️ She was my photographer for my Anniversary Party (1 year after my CoVid Wedding) and she was VERY helpful every step of the way, making sure I was comfortable and clear on what I wanted to capture. When I got started planning our engagement party, I knew I wanted a photographer that would not only be comfortable with an Indian event, but who I could have a good dialogue with. Erin is very sweet and calm natured, and immediately made me feel comfortable--especially since I usually don't like seeing myself in pictures. She was very receptive to ideas from both my fiancé and myself, and was very communicative leading up to the party. To say that these pictures are gorgeous would be an understatement! We hired Erin after seeing how great she was at my sister-inlaws wedding. Her photos are so beautiful, and she is so skilled & talented, but what sets her apart from everyone else is how personable and interpersonal she is. Erin was absolutely amazing. She was easy and fun to work with, and was 100% into our nerdy Star Wars themed wedding. Pictures were one of the things I was most excited about for our wedding and Erin delivered. The end result was even more than I could have asked for!

Disclaimer: We are habitual procrastinators and this review is long overdue. It's also a bit long. We found Erin after a long search through many different photographers. Her online portfolio was impressive, so we put her on the list for interviews. What we didn’t know just by looking at her online portfolio was just how fun, creative, and personable she was! That personality came through over the phone and after our interview, we were convinced she was the perfect fit for our big day. Although we had never met before, she made us feel like friends just catching up after not seeing each other after a long time, everything was easy and comfortable. Erin was very prepared and on top of things, she asked for our shot list in advance and gave us examples so we’d know what to ask for. We were all ready to go, then COVID hit and derailed our original wedding plans. The plans were paused, then modified, then good to go. Through all the complications, Erin was responsive and flexible. She continuously reassured us, that this was OUR big day, and she would be there for us in any way we needed her. It was so reassuring during such an unknown time. On our wedding day, Erin had a printed list of all the critical shots, making sure that she didn’t miss a single one of our requested shots. She also improvised and asked us to do other poses and combinations that turned out great and we didn’t even think of. Erin did just the right amount of coaching to make sure everyone in the shots looked their best. She also did a great job capturing some of the best candid moments of the day. She managed to be in many places without us feeling like she was stepping into our space or interfering with the day. For our “golden hour” photos, she had an assistant (her husband!) come and hold a reflector to ensure we were properly lit, and the photos came out looking so perfect! We are so in love with the finished product. We highly recommend having Erin as your photographer. We liked her so much that we recommended her to our brother and she shot his wedding too. Even with a repeat performance, her professionalism and end product did not disappoint! She will now be our official family photographer for anything that we want to have memorialized. Most recently, she’s shot our sister’s maternity photos, and for a third time, she did not disappoint. TLDR: Erin is amazing! We highly recommend! Thanks for everything, Erin

Cannot recommend Erin enough! She shot our engagement photos, and they came out gorgeous; we've gotten so many compliments already from friends and family! Erin was reasonably priced, was quick to respond to all our emails, was a joy to work with, and accommodated all of our needs. She traveled to two different locations for us, waited patiently during two outfit changes, and touched up all the photos we requested for an extra pop of color. We had so much fun running around LA with Erin and will definitely be calling her to photograph future life events!

Although this isn't for a wedding, Erin did my husband and I's maternity shoot. Erin is very talented and has a wonderful artistic eye. My husband and I cannot even begin to express how happy and lucky we were to have Erin as our photographer for both our engagement and wedding photos. She is a phenomenally talented photographer, an absolute professional, a great communicator, is all-around fun to be around, and was wonderfully flexible with our schedule and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed at all times. When we saw the wedding photos for the first time, our jaws literally dropped in absolute shock and awe by how beautiful the day was captured. Looking through each photo, we truly felt like we were reliving the wedding day moment by moment. Amazing, wonderful, awesome, there aren't enough adjectives to describe Erin. She went above and beyond for us since our first consultation and is just an absolute joy to work with. She captured our personalities perfectly through her photography and we're still getting comments on how perfect the photos came out. We simply cannot recommend her as your wedding photographer - you will not regret it. Second thoughts about hiring Erin as your photographer? Let me tell you a story - about 2 months before our wedding while we were scouting the venue, Erin sat us down to tell us that she needed to undergo surgery. At this point, we considered Erin a friend rather than our wedding photographer and we were so worried for her. We would have gladly found another photographer and wouldn't have even asked for our initial deposit back, but before we could even address anything, with a warm smile, Erintold us not to worry that she had everything planned out and still had every intention of shooting our wedding, but asked if she could bring along some help. Nevermind that she was undergoing surgery - she asked us if we were okay and apologized for having to undergo surgery. That's Erin in a nutshell - even when there's a pressing medical issue at hand, she puts you first. We're so so so grateful to have had Erin as our wedding photographer and we can't thank her enough for all she's done. If you're still reading this, do yourself a favor and hire her already.

Punctuality, professionalism, personality and price A++ I had no leads on who to use and so I went to theknot.com where I found Erin. After reviewing her website "Erin Shimazu Photography," I could see she was a spirited, passionate and cared about her work the way real professionals are focused on their art. This is what I wanted for my wedding, one of the most important memories of my life. Erin was everything she appeared to be and my husband and I immediately bonded with her and her crew. It was perfect! I would choose her again for any future events. Highly recommended without restrictions.

Erin was the photographer for our wedding, and she was professional and a joy to work with from the very first contact to the easy viewing and downloading of our pictures from her website. She listened carefully to all our requests and concerns, and honored all our requests. And of course, the pictures she and her associate took are all gorgeous. We had our wedding reception at the Aquarium of the Pacific, which is beautiful but of course has its own challenges in lighting, etc. We ended up not taking wedding party pictures where we originally planned, but improvised them at a different spot, and they ended up being my favorite photos from the event! Having Erin as our photographer for our wedding day was an absolute pleasure! After communicating with multiple photographers, there was just something about Erin where we instantaneously knew that she was the photographer for us! She made the process so easy that we had everything in place to book her for her services within 2 days! In preparation, she had suggested that we meet prior to the wedding to scout the venue in order to get a better idea of the type of photos we wanted and to provide her creative input as well. Her willingness to meet with us and to also answer any questions we might have had was so helpful in calming our nerves as this was our first professional photoshoot and we definitely didn’t want any of that to show in our pictures. When finding a wedding photographer, my husband and I wanted to find someone who we felt comfortable with and who we appreciated their artistic eye for shots. Highly recommend! From the very beginning, Erin was beyond amazing! We did our engagement shoot with her about 8 months before our wedding and the shots were beyond amazing! On our wedding day, her and her partner Adam were so professional, organized, prepared, and respectful. They got all of the shots we requested and soooo many more. She kept us ahead of schedule as well. We could not be happier that we chose Erin as our wedding photographer. In addition to being an amazingly gifted photographer, Erin is a genuinely nice person and was so amazing to us throughout everything!

We loved working with Erin! She is calm and easy going, which is wonderful on a stressful wedding day. She did a great job making sure we got all the pictures we wanted and that we stayed on track with our timeline. She also took amazing pictures! I am generally not photogenic , but our engagement pictures and wedding pictures came out great. She gives helpful directions to get the best angle and lighting for the pictures, and also makes you feel comfortable with the process, so I did not have my usual frozen, deer in the headlights expression in the pictures. We're very happy we chose Erin.

Erin did our engagement photoshoot and she is AMAZING. We absolutely loved how our photos came out. Not only is Erin super talented, she is also very sweet and made us feel very comfortable in front of the camera. She made the effort to meet us and get to know us before the photoshoot which we really appreciated. She also asked us for poses we wanted to do and made sure she got shots of those. This review is long overdue. We had Erin take our engagement shoot and wedding. To say that hiring Erin was a great decision is such an understatement. As we were planning our wedding, everyone kept telling my now wife and me to make sure we get a good photographer. I didn’t know much about photography and thought pictures are pictures. The first couple of photographers seemed good enough, but then we met Erin, and now I get what people are talking about. Erin is so down to earth, always on time, and her work was amazing. I really appreciated how she was knowledgeable about lighting and just always seemed to take the right shot. Everyone was so impressed with the final product. The one thing that I truly appreciated about Erin is how we felt she truly cared about us and what we wanted. She never imposed her “artistic vision” as I have heard other photographers do, but worked with us to see what we wanted and executed it perfectly. Also, weddings can be so stressful, but Erin did everything to reduce the stress. I appreciated how well she worked with all our vendors. Also, she was very on point with the schedule and stayed on time (despite our ceremony going around 30 minutes later than scheduled). Every shot that we asked her to take (and we asked for quite a few) she was able to get. In addition, she caught some amazing moments that we did not even think about listing, which we greatly appreciated. She even was able to get difficult shots like getting all the guests to stand in front of the church and on the dance floor for group shots (and we had around 180 people). If you are considering Erin as your photographer, I would strongly suggest you don’t hesitate and hire her.

After a number of attempts to find the perfect photographer. Every response seems like a typical cookie cutter reply. Then there was Erin. It was an amazing journey working with her. From the first meeting to our engagement session to the wedding day itself. We knew we found someone who could capture our story. She has such a sweet, warm, personality and is reflective on her work. My wife and I are not made to be in front of the camera. But Erin made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera. On the day of our engagement shoot. Erin took her time to research the location and the proper lighting. We fed off from Erin’s energy as she went above and beyond to the point of dodging cars in Downtown LA to capture the perfect shot. On the day of our wedding, she was not only on time, but full of energy and enthusiasm. What we love about Erin is that she gets to know you at a personable level. We could not recommend any other photographer, but Erin. We really hope to use her services in the future! Thank you Erin, we truly loved your work and I swear, we never looked better in any other pictures.

Erin was our photographer for the engagement photoshoot and for our wedding day. She is so friendly and professional, and we really appreciated how organized and responsive she was throughout the process. We were a bit nervous with the engagement photos, but she put us at ease, and the photos turned out beautiful! We did a walkthrough of the wedding venue with her a few months before the actual date, which was helpful so that we could get some ideas on the type of photos we wanted to take on the day of. She provided us a detailed timeline and confirmed our shot list, and everything went super smoothly on our wedding day! We are amazed with all the photos she and Adam took on the day of - the photographs are a great blend of candid, casual photos, along with artistic, visually stunning imagery. Oh my gosh, we got our photos back and they are GORGEOUS!!! Seriously, I cried all over again. Erin (and her second-shooter Adam) did such an incredible job capturing the feel and personality of our wedding. When I told Erin about a shot from Pride and Prejudice I wanted to do, Erin had even more ideas for other photos! She was so thoughtful and sweet and she really took the time to think about us as a couple and what we wanted to capture in our photos. We are raving to everyone we know. Seriously, thank you Erin!!

Working with Erin was a great all around experience. She was really friendly, responsive to our requests and ideas, and just a very sweet person. She took our request for a quirky anniversary session and totally rolled with it. During the shoot she makes you feel as comfortable as if you were just taking casual pictures with a friend. The photos she delivered were top quality, even capturing the silly moments between poses. She even went so far as to scout the location before hand so she'd be familiar with the lighting. Highly recommend!

If I could Erin 10 stars, I would! Such great personality and quality work! We had such a great time with her while we took our engagement photos that we hired her again for another event we hosted (we got married on the east coast so unfortunately had to find another photographer there...). I CANNOT RECOMMEND HER ENOUGH! we will definitely hire her again. Professional, communicative and easy to work with, and not the mention the AMAZING pictures we got! We are still getting compliments on those photos.

We had consulted with quite a few photographers before meeting Erin, and once we did it was easy to see how professional, easygoing, and creative she was. We were immediately impressed by her photography style but were blown away at her ability to make us laugh and relax while taking pictures. When we were shooting our engagement photos it felt like just another one of our friends taking the photos. On the day of the wedding Erin was able to control the crowd and take all the shots we had asked for. Our big day was perfect and Erin was able to capture all the beautiful little moments throughout the way. Her pictures were absolutely incredible and we couldn’t help but look at them all day long! Without a doubt we would recommend Erin to everyone and we can’t say enough how satisfied we are with her work. We have sent our album to all of our family and friends and people continue to rave about the photographer and how great the pictures turned out. She gets every little detail even in a time crunch! We will continue to use Erin for any photography we want in the future and highly recommend Erin, especially for wedding pictures!

Erin and her second shooter, Adam, is an absolute joy to work with. They're very kind and easy to work with. Their demeanor helped put us at ease when we felt awkward posing. Erin was very fun, friendly, sweet, and detailed oriented. My husband and I knew immediately that we wanted to book with Erin for our engagement and wedding. She worked with us during the planning stage and made sure she knew the shots and poses we wanted. She offered beyond what we paid for. She's very accommodating. She takes a lot of time to make sure she knows what you're looking for. She even went to our ceremony venue with us to scout it out. Erin takes a lot of consideration into the details like the time (for sunsets), angle, and background. She has a natural talent for photography and she is an absolute professional. She has a great eye for capturing beautiful moments into photos. I love the color, the smiles on our faces, and the love between my husband and we that I see through each photos. She willing to get dirty for a good photo angle. She fell once taking our wedding photos, but was a good sport about it and kept going. What a professional! Erin really captured the moment on every photo of our engagement/wedding and it brings me back to the magical day.

Erin photographed our small wedding in Las Vegas and made an already great day even more amazing! Not only were her photographs gorgeous, but she was so patient with us. It was over 105 degrees that afternoon, and Erin never rushed us once. She has a great eye for finding the perfect backdrop, and will do anything to get the best shot. At one point, she was lying on the sidewalk in her lovely dress to get the photo that ended up being one of our favorites from the day. The chapel we chose on the Strip included photos in the package we chose, but I’m so happy we still asked Erin to take her own photos, because the difference in quality was astounding. We flew home to get married in SoCal. Erin was incredibly flexible, coordinating from across the country. She did a magnificent job capturing our wedding. We are so pleased with our photos. We received a batch of pictures to use for our thank you cards immediately. The rest followed quickly. Erin took time to get to know us and made it an incredibly personalized experience. Erin is absolutely amazing! Her pictures are incredibly beautiful and are the pictures we’ve ever taken. I’ve gotten so many wonderful comments about her pictures! Erin is not only talented but so ultra sweet. I never felt rushed and was comfortable and relaxed the whole time. She’s also amazing with kids! My wife and I were very pleased to have Erin as our photographer. Upon our first meeting, we knew that she would be the one to make us look good in our photos and capture all the moments during our big day. Her enthusiasm reflects the quality of her work. The moment we told her about our expectations and ideas, she beamed at them and wanted to make sure that they were made possible. She is super organized and keeps in constant contact with you to make sure everything goes smoothly. Everything on our shot list was taken and even more that we didn't even think of. My only regret, and this is not on her but on us, is that we didn't have more on our shot list since she would have made it happen. She is great at directing and keeping us on time. Both of our families are huge, so getting them all organized for a photo is an achievement in itself. She was able to get them all together while keeping in mind our strict schedule since we didn't have much time due to another event that was going to occur at our church. There are few things that are as stressful as planning a wedding and arguably one of the hardest things to choose is the photographer- the person who is in charge of capturing all the sights, the feelings, and all the memories that you and your family will look back upon for years to come. But fear not! Your search is over! My new husband and I cannot speak more highly about Erin Shimazu and her work and we were blown away by how much we loved all of them. Not only were the pictures beautiful but she was also able to capture the unique aspects of my husband's and my personality that make us laugh and remember how just magical our wedding day was! We were married at my parent's home and she was able to take simple decorations and transform them into real works of art while still capturing the homeyness that I was looking for. Not only were the results fantastic, but Erin as a person is genuinely one of the sweetest, most calm, and organized people I've ever met- the exact type of person you want capturing your wedding. She made the whole process so easy, from the initial meeting to planning our shot list and getting everyone together on the day of, and I never once had to worry about anything photography related. Erin is an wonderfully talented photographer and a genuinely friendly and kind person. We had to plan the majority of our wedding in LA from across the country, but Erin made the entire process super easy and stress-free. When we were finally in town and able to meet with her, she was just as warm and bubbly as her emails. She was great at really understanding what we wanted in our wedding photos (even when we weren't sure how to articulate what we wanted), and she made excellent suggestions! On the day of the wedding, Erin was awesome. I don't usually feel comfortable around a camera, but she made us feel so at ease and made the whole experience so much fun. She was also great at keeping us on schedule, even when we repeatedly stopped to take impromptu photos. We just got our wedding photos, and I couldn't happier with how our they turned out. I feel like Erin captured us so well, and I am really impressed with all the candid shots from the reception. I rarely write online reviews, but I could go on and on about how Erin is the best!

We found Erin to be a most delightful and talented wedding photographer. From the get-go, we were taken by Erin’s artistry, attention to detail, and enthusiasm. In line with our outdoor wedding theme, she helped select the Santa Monica Mountains as a backdrop for our engagement photos — and highlighted her ability to capture us in the context of the natural surroundings. In the very busy ensuing months up to our wedding, Erin’s ability to help us plan ahead was instrumental; she proactively coordinated with us on visiting the venue and developing a photo shoot list and timeline. For the wedding day, Erin and her assistant, Adam, showed prowess in keeping schedule and cheerfully organizing the various group shots, as well as in unobtrusively taking casual photos. The photographs, which Erin had ready for us in a compilation only a little over 3 months after the wedding, were superb. They expertly captured the wedding party, guests, botanic garden ambience, and all of our little artistic details. We would eagerly use Erin again!

Erin really went above and beyond for our engagement portraits and party. She called me ahead of time to ask what sort of photos we would like to have taken, then met with me at the location to scout out shots the day before. When it turned out that I had misjudged the amount of time I needed covered, she rearranged her plans to stay an extra hour for us at the last minute! Erin was really great at working with our boisterous and somewhat disorganized group of people, and of course her photos looked fabulous. I love the way she got the lighting to look so bright and cheerful, which can be difficult for our multi-skintoned group. All of our family was impressed with the photos she took, which is a feat unto itself!

One of the best decisions I made while planning my wedding was hiring Erin Shimazu. She didn’t just take pictures during my wedding, she also helped to direct the day and provided a calming presence when things went wrong - for example, while I was getting ready, my dress got dragged across a dusty floor and got dirty. My mom, sister, future MIL, and bridesmaids scrambled to try and fix the problem, but in the midst of the panic, Erin kept her cool and was able to help us find a solution, get the dress clean, and keep us on schedule to meet my future husband for our first look. She had the same poise after the ceremony when we were taking family photos. My husband has a LARGE family, but she was able to corral dozens of people and made sure that every photo that was important to us was captured; it was almost like the more chaotic things got, the calmer and kinder Erin became. She also took the time to scout out our venue a few days before our wedding, and found a beautiful spot nearby to take first look and bridal party photos so that we would have a couple of different backgrounds in our photos instead of just the same place. And, perhaps most importantly, the photos she gave us after the wedding were spectacular! Erin has a gift for capturing incredible candid photos during the preparation, ceremony, and the reception, and she also had creative ideas for interesting poses/shots of my husband and I, our bridal party, and our families, even after we had run out of ideas. She has an eye for beautiful natural lighting and takes excellent beach photos. The photos were ready exactly when she said they would be, and she provided us with an online library of ALL the photos she took (over 1800). She has also reached out several times since then to make sure we liked the photos and to see if there was any editing she could do. Her images are beautiful and my husband and I couldn’t be happier with the memories she helped us capture. Thank you so much for everything, Erin!
