We were lucky enough to work with Erum for both our engagement shoot and wedding. Covid delayed our wedding so we had four years between meeting Erum for the first time and having her shoot our wedding. But we can say it was well worth the wait. Her work is incredible; she is so creative and works effortlessly to capture THE shot. Her playful energy makes working with her fun and her jokes will get you smiling and laughing. She put us at ease whenever the camera was around. Along with her team of Moses, Nick, & Stephanie, Erum is an extraordinary talent who will create masterpieces for you. We were amazed at our engagement shoot four years ago and cannot wait to see our wedding photos!
Thank you so much!! Erum was very easy to get along with and totally made the whole process easier. Our pictures came out amazing and we are truly thankful that we chose her as our photographer. Wish her the best and will definitely recommend her to everyone we know.
I couldn't have picked a better photographer for my wedding. She was very active and I loved how involved she was throughout the whole process. My family loved her. Highly Recommend her!
I can't tell you how many compliments we received on how great of a photographer Erum was. My husband and I loved getting to know her and really enjoyed our photo sessions with her as she did our engagement photos and wedding photos. As a photographer lover myself it was imperative to find someone who was clearly a talented professional and Erum far exceeded our expectations by being tentative to our requests and personalising her service for us.
When we were planning my Indian/American fusion wedding we reviewed a lot of photographers who were certainly talented - but, it was Erum's personable and energetic personality that truly led us to choose her to shoot our special day.
I write this review with great pride. A few years ago Erum Rizvi pretty much launched the Washington, DC area market for South Asian-focused wedding photographers. Today, she is frequently called out to destinations far away from DC - shooting eccentric, fusion weddings.
It's great to see this gem of our local creative community rise up to global prominence and speaking at wedding photography conventions!
Erum is truly the best at what she does. A winner of many awards notably "Named as Rangefinder Magazine Top 30 Rising Star in the world" Not VA, and not just U.S. People, I said...THE WORLD. How impressive is that?
The quality of her work is AMAZING and EXQUISITE. Her professionalism is IMPECCABLE, and above everything else (if that's even possible), Her humility and easy-going nature makes working with her, both an honor and an experience you will never forget.
You can spend all the money in the world on your dream dress and all the little details to make your day perfect...but imagine how wonderful it would be to relive that moment again and again simply by flipping through your wedding album. Having been a bridesmaid more times than I have fingers to count with, I have seen my fair share of photographers and I encourage all brides-to-be to be extremely picky when choosing a wedding photographer. Find one that you have a good rapport with (or else you will be stuck with them for 12+ hrs) and more importantly, make sure you share the same cohesive vision with your photographer. That is exactly why I needed Erum for my own wedding and I couldn't be happier with that decision.
Kind Regards,
Katherine
Erum is such an amazing hardworking, dedicated and extremely professional photographer her talent is beyond incredible.
She brings great energy, enthusiasm, and love, love her british sense of humor. She's great at making you laugh by saying the most random things, and then you end up with really great shots.
She truly made the entire event both engagement session and our wedding day fun and magical for us!! Knowing how stressful wedding planning is, she helped us feel comfortable throughout the entire process. Honestly we don’t know how to compliment her enough for a job well done!. Even our family, friends and other vendors complimented on how easy-going and fun she was! Thanks to Erum, we have our wedding and engagement photos to cherish and reminisce all the memories that comes with it; love, blessings, and fun we had on our special day.
I went to meet with many Indian Wedding Photographers in the DC metro area, and I could see a certain quality of work in Erum's images that I hadn't seen before. She takes a little longer with image because she is an artist, and truly puts more effort into the editing, and relationship building aspect. I wasn't looking for a quick turn- around studio to document my day. I wanted a bespoke experience with thought and love put into each edited image.
Would highly recommend her, and I wish her all the best!

One look at Erum’s photographs and her talent is obvious. She creates beautiful images and is very easy to work with for photo shoots, which was so important to us in choosing a wedding photographer. She is laid back but professional and very good at giving instructions and managing a crowd, from the wedding party to the crowd on the dance floor. Her work is top notch. However, communication and timeliness of delivering the online galleries were challenges in our experience with Erum. For our engagement photos, we received them nearly two months after they were promised, which delayed us getting our Save the Date cards out (because we wanted to use photos from the session with her on the cards). Once the promised deadline passed, we tried to reach her multiple times via email and by phone and couldn’t connect with her. She eventually responded by email and set a new deadline for getting the photos to us, and then missed that one, too. When we received the photos, we really loved them- no surprise. The same has happened with our photos from our two-day wedding (lots of photos!). She was very late sharing the online gallery with us and did so only after we were in touch with multiple reminders. Again, the quality of the photos is excellent. We requested a few minor edits- namely that my name (the bride) be spelled correctly, that photos of me in my underwear be removed from the gallery, and that some specific edits she had done to other images (re: the groom’s hairline) also be done to a few that she’d missed. These seemed like very reasonable requests. Months later, we still haven’t had any response from her and the changes haven’t been made. We’ve tried to reach her by phone, email, and even Facebook, but nothing. And now there is a problem with our access to the online galleries- we get an error message every time we try to view our own photos. This means that 7 months after our wedding we still haven’t been able to share the online gallery with our family and friends. Thankfully, she did send us a disk by mail with all the photos on it. Since we still haven’t heard back from her, we will have to resort to manually uploading all 2,000 photos (minus the ones she should have removed and the ones she should have edited) to Picasa so that we can finally share the photos from this most important weekend of our lives. Great photos, but a very disappointing and frustrating experience.
