Events by Melody

I have never written a bad review before but need to voice my negative experience with Melody Sweers. My daughter was to be married at our home on Aug 22. I found Events by Melody. She seemed friendly on the phone. In our conversation I learned she was active in her church and enjoyed her job. We met on March 3rd. This was to be a small wedding , no need for rehearsal, music, hotel arrangements, etc. I had already picked out the caterer, made invitations. Melody came with a prepared standard contract with many features I was not going to use. Like a fool, I signed it with a $1,650 nonrefundable deposit. Unfortunately, the wedding was canceled 10 weeks later. During those 10 weeks we hadn't met again as Covid was in full swing and this was to be a simple wedding. She never met the bride. I asked her if she would consider giving me even a fraction of the $1,650 deposit. She REFUSED. She has every legal right to keep that deposit. I, however, am shocked by her moral compass. As a warning, I would not want to do business with someone who feels moral justification in keeping $1,650 for one meeting and a phone call. Think twice before hiring this planner.
