litated is the main thing our guests are STILL talking about almost six months later. There are so many things Kathy did that made her easy and ideal to work with. To start, our first meeting with her lasted almost an hour. Even before we committed to working with her, she took so much time to get to know us. Then, she had us fill out a lengthy form sharing our story and vision for our ceremony in writing. Then, she came to our house and met with us for THREE HOURS to ask us even more questions and get an even deeper understanding of who we are. Throughout the entire process, she was incredibly communicative via email, stuck with the exact timeline she outlined with us from the beginning, and just generally had so much positive energy about marriage that rubbed off on us! There were two sections of our ceremony script that were extremely important to us and that we wanted to write ourselves - one was a tribute to my mom who passed away just over a year before our wedding, and the other was a tribute to those who fought for marriage equality. Kathy was super accommodating in incorporating these sections into the script she was writing and using the language we provided her with. Aside from these two sections, Kathy wrote a ceremony that was completely customized to us, down to the story of how we met, our aspirations for the future, the phrases we used instead of simply saying “I do”, and how we wanted to be introduced at the very end before we kissed and walked down the aisle. Everything was so organized that we didn’t even do a rehearsal and it all went so smoothly. Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that our officiant was the vendor we spent the most time finding. As a queer couple, we weren’t vibing with sooooo many of the people we interviewed because they would either appear very uncomfortable, say something that made us uncomfortable, or just ask/say inappropriate things. Kathy made us feel seen and heard and is a true believer in marriage equality in a non-surface-level way. We would HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Kathy as your officiant 🙂

After our interview, my husband commented that he wish he could talk to Kathy more often! This interview lead her to write such a personalized ceremony. Not only did she write our ceremony, but she contacted our vendors in advance, was prompt with all communication, and went above and beyond to make sure my grandmother was included in our ceremony by setting up a personal Zoom link for her. Words cannot express how grateful we are to Kathy!

We met her in our home (her suggestion so that we were most comfortable, an hour away from her own home, on a weekend) where she set up cameras to interview us about our relationship journey. Though honestly, I quickly forgot about the cameras, and it just felt like a natural conversation with her, and it went on for hours! It was fun to reminisce about things we had almost forgotten about over the years, and especially in the thick of wedding planning. I found myself loving my fiance more during those hours while hearing what he had to say. By the end, Kathy truly felt like a friend, and an advocate for our marriage. After she officiated our ceremony, we had several people come up to us to ask how we were related to or knew Kathy... it was that personalized. Even two months later, so many of our family and friends have told us how beautiful the ceremony was, and that is all thanks to Kathy and her dedication to getting to know each and every couple that she marries. Our ceremony was my favorite part of our wedding day (and I really thought the reception would win). Not many people can say that they love their career and that it is a perfect match for them, but Kathy was made for this. Her passion for helping to perfect a couple's biggest day of their lives is evident, and more importantly - it is truly genuine. We would recommend her to anyone. We met Kathy at a wedding expo and were first intrigued by the time capsule video she offered. We had a video meeting to have an official “meet” and it felt like we knew her forever. We scheduled our ceremony detail meeting to record our video and I think we exceeded our timeframe but within good reason lol Kathy spoke to us like a friend, not someone who was in the business to just marry people. She helped us open up a dialogue that I think we hadn’t tapped into in a while ~wedding planning is hectic and at times blurs the purpose of the day and what it really means~ She helped us remind each other why we are getting married and we needed that. In return, our meeting helped create one of the most beautiful ceremonies ever. We received so many compliments on how personal and emotionally beautiful it was and it felt like everyone there was in tune with our union. We highly recommend Kathy to everyone looking for an officiant bc I guarantee you will walk away with an abundance of love and more excitement about your special day after sitting with her :)
