er a better working relationship, but that went nowhere because talking to her was akin to chatting with a customer service bot. She would say all the “right” things, but there would be no improvement and her responses felt so automated and generic without any comprehension of my issues. GreenGale Farms was our venue, and she was 1 of 3 planners on their preferred vendors list. I initially hired her because I was having a hard time finding a vendor for a Korean tea ceremony, and when we had our consultation call, she confidently said, “I have a vendor for that.” Chat, she did not have a vendor for that. Over the course of about 3 months, she would send over vendors I had zero interest in and/or zero budget for, and when I asked about the Korean tea ceremony vendor, she backpedaled and expressed uncertainty whether her now “casual contact” did them or not. She would CC me on e-mails with vendors that were so low on the priority list, which ended up creating more work for me because I felt like I had to take the time to politely decline. On our initial call, I told her there were 2 vendors that were non-negotiable and didn’t fall into any budget constraints. There was no urgency about this, and we ended up losing one of the vendors. When I asked for a specific catering menu, it took her close to 3 weeks to get it to me. I e-mailed the vendor myself and got it within 1 business day. I had to remind her several times that we had no bridesmaids/groomsmen as she kept adding them to timelines. When I called her out on needing to be reminded so many times, she didn’t apologize, she just doubled down and said, “Oh, in my experience people say they don’t want bridesmaids and then add them later.” What. Everyone told me to get rid of her, but I kept trying to make excuses for her and also didn’t want to lose the deposit. I saw that she was planning her sister’s wedding and hoped she would be more focused when that was over, but nope. In the about 3 months we were working together, not a single vendor was booked. I hired her in late June 2025 for a March 7th, 2026 wedding, so it’s not like we were swimming in extra time. I was willing to cancel the whole wedding if it meant never dealing with her again. For months, I was spending my time figuring out how to word e-mails, develop reminder systems, and essentially try to keep her on track, not the other way around. Despite so much back and forth communication, nothing got done and she didn’t seem to remember any details we discussed ever. At the end of the day, if you don’t really care about specific vendors/experiences and have unlimited budget, you’ll probably still get a nice result, but you’ll probably get a nice result with any planner if that’s your situation, and I can’t recommend staying away from Jess enough. I didn’t even want to go after the deposit because I was so over conversing with her, but my partner tried to and she reluctantly gave 20% back after creating non-stop stress and booking zero vendors. She is the reason people carry the sentiment that planners are needless middlemen with a low barrier to entry.
