We went with DJ Dave and Expressway Music for our NYC wedding and could not have been happier! It was an absolute pleasure working with him throughout the whole process.
From the very beginning, we were impressed by Dave's excellent communication. He was extremely responsive over email and answered all of our questions promptly. When we met with him over Zoom, he won us over immediately with his warm personality, professionalism, and clear passion for his work. He asked us all the right questions about our wedding and musical tastes and made us feel confident that we were in capable experienced hands. He was also very flexible, collaborative, and easy to work with—accommodating our various requests at different stages of the process. On top of that, his rates were very fair and reasonable compared to the competition.
During the wedding, Dave did a phenomenal job selecting music and getting people up on the dance floor. He was great at reading the energy of the room and made smart decisions on the fly. When we decided to add a live pianist for the ceremony and cocktail hour, he recommended Richard from their roster of musicians. Wow, what a great choice! Richard is a very talented and expressive pianist and made our ceremony even more special. We had chosen a few pieces that were off the beaten path, but were delighted to learn that Richard was already very familiar with them! On the wedding day he played a beautiful medley that transitioned seamlessly from one to the other. We had an incredible night and absolutely recommend DJ Dave, Richard, and Expressway Music!
David and his team are super easy to work with and had great suggestions for our big day! It was such a fun dance party and no one wanted to leave the dance floor at the end of the night. Highly recommend.
We used Expressway to DJ our wedding ceremony and reception last week at Perona Farms in NJ. David Swirsky was wonderful!! He showed up to our venue 2 hours in advance of the start of our ceremony to set up and he did a fabulous job! He spoke with my husband and I in advance of the wedding and really took our wants and likes into consideration. He made sure to play almost everything on our request list. Expressway’s database to customize a request list is quite extensive! David did such a professional and expert job of combining the tastes of all of our guests as It appealed to all kinds of musical interests and balanced English and Spanish music. Our guests, particularly myself, danced the entire night!! Everyone truly enjoyed themselves and commented afterward how much fun they had. David is such a professional and kind guy! He had just as much as fun as we did and It showed!!
My wife and I hired Expressway Music to DJ our wedding and they brought the whole event to the next level. Dave kept people on the dance floor all night. His ability to read the crowd and remain flexible in choosing songs ensured that our reception was a true party - I’ve never seen so many people constantly dancing at a wedding until ours! He was extremely receptive to our personal tastes in music and was happy to take song requests in the moment, which also made our guests very happy. There wasn’t a moment in the night where an unpopular song was played and the transitions were so natural that we barely noticed them. Everyone should hire Expressway Music for their next event - they will make it truly memorable.
LOVED DJ Dave! I felt like we were musical soulmates upon meeting him! Very well knowledged in all music and such a down to earth guy. He did a wonderful job at our wedding, we were very happy! Also, the amber lighting touches he added around the room really made the room pop. Would highly recommend!!
Expressway Music was the DJ for our wedding. David and his team were awesome to work with. They met us before the wedding to get a sense of what music preferences we had, and even were able to make some very good recommendations for processional music. David was able to provide music during the ceremony and cocktail hour and then move all his equipment upstairs for the reception without even skipping a beat. I would highly recommend Expressway Music for any event. Just a pleasure to work with and got the crowd dancing!
We could not have been more thrilled for Dave to be the DJ at our wedding! After meeting with several DJ's we felt most comfortable with Dave and he managed to wildly exceed our expectations. We are not huge music buffs, and relied on Dave to read the crowd and play music that was suited to young and old alike. We even had a friend come up to us and ask if we hand picked all the songs because they were all great! We used three different songs for our processional, and Dave seamlessly wove all of the music together to make it truly special and unique. Dave listened to all of the speeches and when a song from a movie was mentioned, he played the song later that night without being asked- a highlight of the night. It was truly a magical night and we know that David was a huge part of the success! We cant recommend him enough. He was beyond excellent.
I'm so happy that we had David at our wedding. Not only did we get lots of positive comments from our guests, but we were thrilled with the music he played. He was great to work with, and did an excellent job understanding the crowd and figuring out what music people would enjoy. Everyone had a great time, and we definitely could have kept dancing long into the night!
I had DJ Dan emcee my wedding after seeing him for years do Karaoke Night. I figured, "he's awesome doing karaoke, let's go with what I know."
I had NO IDEA that he'd be the most adept, fluid, engaging, masterful wedding guru! (And I had no idea that he had been doing weddings so often that he even has a license to be an officiant. :) )
To start, DJ Dan is a testament to the difference between getting a FLAWLESSLY GREAT and experienced DJ who knows his craft...vs getting a good DJ. My mom had told me when I was planning my wedding that the entertainment "makes or breaks the wedding." And she was right. My entertainment made my wedding the best night of my life.
Dan met with us weeks before the wedding and asked a bunch of questions about things I had never even thought of, and even the slightest weird request was taken note of ("can we have the law and order sound effect before every toast?" Yep, he did it!)
At the end of the meeting, my fiancee said, "You know what? I was stressed about everything...until today. I just feel like Dan can take care of any curve ball." That peace of mind alone was worth its weigh in gold.
Dan called the band before the wedding and coordinated every last detail with them. He accommodated every last weird song request, and had this innate ability to know exactly what to play to keep the crowd on their feet! It was amazing, and perfect, and I couldn’t have asked for a better DJ/emcee.
Here’s the thing. Other places I talked to tried to convinced me I needed a separate DJ, a separate emcee, and a separate singer. Dan did all 3. And on top of everything? The whole booking process could not have been more seamless or pleasant. Quick to respond. Eager to please. Just wonderful beyond the telling of it.
This was such an important day, and I wanted everything to be perfect. Expressway Music made sure that it was, and for that, I am so incredibly grateful.
When you walk out onto the dance floor for the first time with David Swirsky as your DJ, you see and hear nothing but a good time happening. We enjoyed laughs with David from the onset as we planned our wedding and never wanted the night to end as he filled our venue with great music and vibes. Would always recommend for any event!!
This review is solely for their harpist, we didn't use their DJ services. Honestly, if it weren't for Charissa, who does all of the scheduling and coordination for Expressway, we would have cut ties with them a few days before our wedding. I don't think we fully understood the meaning of the expression of "the customer is always right" until we dealt with this harpist.
To back up a bit, we had calls and/or walk-throughs scheduled with our DJ, caterer, florist, etc. before the wedding. We thought it best to make sure everyone was on the same page, so we asked Charissa if we could have a short call with the harpist as well, to ensure she knew what we were looking for, and to ask her suggestion on a song. We worked with Charissa, who was very pleasant and accommodating to schedule a 15 minute call. For the call itself, first, Charissa couldn't locate the harpist - she wasn't answering her phone. When she finally got on the phone, about 12 minutes late to a 15 minute call, she was clearly driving and getting in and out of her car. There were many extraneous noises in the background, it was hard to hear her and she clearly wasn't concentrating on our call. We'd sent an email with the part we needed a song suggestion on which she hadn't read through, and she seemed confused as to why the call was happening. To top it all off, she acted like the call was unnecessary and was blatantly rude. Tensions were rising, and my usually very calm and cool-headed fiance got irritated, we were paying her money and she could care less about her job or doing it professionally. Finally, when it got impossible to hear her, he said let's just reschedule the call. Charissa promptly called us back and promised to make things right, sending us links to song options for the part of the ceremony we needed, and promising over and over again that she'd be prompt on the wedding day.
Fast forward to the wedding and she was indeed prompt and played fine. Much of the wedding is a blur to me, but one or two people complimented us having a harpist, so I imagine she played well. She had the nerve, however, to come up to me before my husband and I were about to make our entrance into the reception and say, "can you hear me now?!" At first I didn't understand, and then realized she meant because we'd gotten irritated on the call over her lack of professionalism. To come up to me in the middle of my wedding and do this was completely uncalled for.
All in all, she did her job and did a good job of it. Personality-wise though, I will never hire her again. She left a terrible taste in my mouth. Charissa I must say though had given us her personal cell phone in case anything had gone wrong over the weekend, and followed up on Monday following the wedding to make sure all went okay. She seemed to go above and beyond.
David and his team at expressway truly helped make our wedding absolutely perfect. Dave is a total pro, unobtrusive, accommodating, and above all caring. Dave and Charissa listened to all our requests, made sure they confirmed it, and made it all happen. The blend of music that was played was absolutely perfect and had people dancing all night! Plus I had expressed to Dave that I wanted a vintage feel for my Gatsby themed wedding and he made sure to play era appropriate music throughout dinner which was so perfect and truly added to the ambiance my husband were going for. I can't recommend this company enough. They are kind, talented, total pros who will do whatever they can to make things just right for your big day!!! :)
My husband and I used Expressway to book our DJ, ceremony violinist and doo wop group, Spank, for our cocktail hour. We were not disappointed!!!!! Spank was amazing and the highlight of the evening. We had soo many guests rave about them and how they were the highlight of the wedding. Nicest guys ever, were willing to accommodate our requests and mingle with our guests throughout our cocktail hour.
DJ Dan Kingman was awesome, I sent him a longgggg list of song requests beforehand and he played a majority of them throughout the night. We worked with Charissa throughout the process who was super responsive and easy to work with. Very reasonably priced too! Would recommend 100% you will not be disappointed!!!
David Swirsky from Expressway Music was the perfect DJ for our wedding. He was recommended to us by a friend and he really came through for us. We wanted our wedding to be a fun dance party that really got everyone dancing and that's EXACTLY WHAT DAVID DELIVERED! It was amazing!! There was never a moment when the dance floor was empty at any point in the night. Originally we picked David because of his reasonable prices and his understated (dare i say elegant!) setup/booth. We were horrified by the light show/huge black speakers that his competitors have. His clean white speakers are something you'd want in your own home but do not skimp on the sound. David kept us partying for hours, keeping both young and older guests engaged in dancing which is exactly what we wanted. David was professional and so easy to talk to and get along with. He responded promptly to all our email and phone correspondence as well as in person meetings. Could not have been happier to have DJ at our wedding! We also used Yan, the solo violinist, for our ceremony and he was great too!
David [and Expressway Music] were the perfect DJ for us and our wedding. David worked hands-on with us to understand not only our personal music tastes, but also the tastes of our guests. His assistant even helped me find an instrumental cover of a song that I ended up walking down the aisle to. We hired Expressway Music for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and the transition of music from each space was seamless. During our reception, David really kept the energy up the whole night, and everyone had an amazing time at our wedding -- the dance floor was filled for pretty much the entire night!!
He even went out of his way to help my now-husband surprise me with a singing performance (cover) of a Death Cab for Cutie song, accompanied by my cousin's boyfriend, on the acoustic guitar. It was an amazing moment that everyone is still talking about! This is a professional operation and David will work hard to ensure everyone has an amazing time celebrating at your wedding -- whatever kind of wedding you want to have.
Taylor was beyond professional and enthusiastic about our wedding. From booking the company, Taylor was in constant contact with me and only a text away. He really wanted to know what our vision was for the musical selections so he could pull his own experience into it too.
He was not scheduled to play until 4:30pm. I arrived at 2:45pm and he was already set up and had cued up some pieces for me to approve!! He respected our request to not talk to the crowd and be cheesy, which he appreciated :). He played nice sets that everyone would like and my uncle specifically complimented how impressive the selections were for dinner and the dancing afterwards. We had some ethnic dances throughout the evening that incorporated well and even asked for the disk in advance to be prepared and familiar with the music.
Taylor was our particular dj but I have to recommend the company in general. David and Charissa were also available to answer any questions, at any time, so I was comfortable that everything would go perfectly.
I can't say enough about how professional and comfortable they made us feel. With a destination wedding I had no reference to begin so I looked through the vendor recommendation list from the venue, Alger House, and couldn't have been more pleased.
Bad music and a bad dj can scar otherwise amazing memories. I am pleased to say, our flowergirls singing and dancing to "Firework" by Katie Perry is what made it all worth it.
DJ Dave was recommended by our wedding planner, and we were so happy that we went with him. From our first meeting, we knew he'd be a great fit. He was understanding and helpful with choosing music, and accommodating our special requests. On the day of our wedding the music was perfect, the transitions were flawless, and he kept our guests dancing. He even got a few guests to dance, which we thought would have been impossible. We were completely satisfied with DJ Dave, and definitely recommend him!
David was professional and rocked the house. He knew how to work the party and kept a great flow of dancing the entire night. Very friendly and a pleasure to work with.
David at Expressway Music was a pleasure to work with! He met with us before the wedding and really listened to what we wanted in terms of music. At the wedding itself, everyone had so much fun- David played a great selection of songs, and literally got some of our eldest guests out there on the dance floor!! Go David!!! His Bose speakers were very impressive- our only complaint were at one point, they were so impressive that it was a bit hard to hear conversation over them- but when we went up to him and asked him to lower the music a little, he was great about doing that. David is a huge part of why our wedding was such a fantastic day- would definitely recommend him.
My DJ was Dave, and he kept the party going..I couldn't have been happier with him. We were in contact for a few weeks before the wedding, and he played all my required music. I loved it, my guests loved it. If you want to have non stop dancing at your wedding..go with Expressway Music!!
I loved working with Dan Kingman of Expressway Music for my wedding! Dan was quick to respond to my emails, and even slowed down the song that my husband and I chose for our first-dance song, because it was a little fast to dance to. I loved the volume control - during dinner, everyone could chat, and when we were dancing, it was nice and loud! Dan was great and I highly recommend Expressway Music!
Dave did a great job as a DJ at our wedding. We met with him a couple of times before the wedding and he was very responsive and accommodating. He listened to all our suggestions and created a playlist that had something for everyone. We provided him with some Russian music and when he ran out of our songs at the reception he was able to find some similar music in his files since it was popular with the crowd. We gave him some songs and music styles that we wanted to include for reception and let him be creative and read the crowd. Everybody had a blast and was dancing all night long. Great entertainment!
Dave Swirsky of Expressway Music was the perfect DJ for our wedding. I only had to give him styles of music and artists and he made a fantastic song list that kept the crowd dancing all day! He even accommodated my request to play a medley of songs for a dance sequence some of my guest performed and found the perfect place in the party to include the dance. I was overwhelmed with everything and couldn't think of a cake cutting song and the fact that he picked a song I had said that I loved during our interview made me so happy! What a great surprise! I also used his band Green Central Station and they were fantastic. The guitarist called me at home to play some songs for me prior to the wedding to see what I wanted to walk down the aisle to! He had composed a piece that was perfect and I was so satisfied! I highly recommend Expressway Music, Dave Swirsky and Green Central Station
Dan Kingman (from Expressway Music) met with us prior to the wedding to find out our likes and dislikes and played very appropriate music throughout the evening.
