I hired their business The Yard. A Mobile Eatery for our catering. They were super easy to work with! Beyond a few misunderstandings on containers I provided there were zero issues with anyone from their team. Their staff during the reception w...

Sara and her team did a wonderful job at our wedding. The food was delicious - many of our guests commented after the fact that the food was some of the best they've ever had at a wedding. There were many choices and with Sara's expertise, we...
were able to come up with a unique menu that fit our style. Sara also took care of the flowers for our wedding, which were gorgeous. We hired her husband to bring his cigar cart, which ended up being a huge hit. Overall, Sara and her team helped make our day truly special.

This review is specifically for catering from The Yard, A Mobile Eatery. Sara was exceptional to work with from the very beginning. We were uncomfortable with giving a deposit before having a tasting, so she worked with us despite her busy s...
chedule. The tasting was a complete knockout and we enjoyed every bite. Leading up to the wedding, Sara went above and beyond for us. She was there to support us through wedding planning in a pandemic, offering advice and options, flexibility, and kindness. At the wedding, the food was delicious (though we didn't get to eat as much as we may have liked, as is typical for the bride and groom) and the staff was professional. Everything also looked beautiful and aesthetics are important to me. I will not be getting married again, but I definitely hope to work with Sara again if ever I am planning an event in the area at a future date. Thank you Sara and team!

We got married on 9/28/19 at the Barn at Fallingwater. Sara did a wonderful job from start to finish! She was very familiar with the venue and responsive to any questions we had. I feel like she went above and beyond to help. She really is a co...
mplete package and was able to accommodate our catering and floral needs within our budget! We got so many compliments on the food and she matched my bouquet and the arbor decorations exactly as visioned. Couldn't be happier with how everything turned out! :-)

The Yard A Mobile Eatery – See “Horizon View Farms” for coordination review. Created a brunch menu and catered to our budget initially. We did a tasting and found the food to be delicious. She was responsive in planning. However, there were man...
y hiccups for our wedding day which is the entire purpose of hiring a catering company.
Donut tower – Sent photos of donut towers I had found online, Sara thought it was a cute idea and agreed to create one. Instead, the donuts ended up being just stacked on a plate and on a board that they used at a previous event. The plate was not the donut tower we agreed upon and paid for.
Coffee for preceremony—Not enough coffee for the guests which was poor planning/unprofessional. If that was the plan because no one from the catering staff (4 servers/2 bartenders) could take another urn to the forest/have enough there to begin with, then it should have been communicated to the bride/groom beforehand. Guests expected it upon their arrival – what we paid for and planned with Sara.
Brunch food—Station brunch usually starts with breakfast items and working your way down to the lunch items for a natural order. It was surprising they told our guests to start with the lunch/Indian food first. It would have been good for the servers to make rounds and let everyone know the food truck was serving omelets in front of the barn. May have been their first brunch, but it’s certainly not the first brunch wedding.
Afterparty—Sara did not plan for the number of our guests who were coming back that evening to enjoy the venue. It can be difficult to estimate this, but we knew who were staying based on feedback and hotel reservations. And in event planning, it’s always better to plan for more than less. The Yard ran out of supplies and had to leave the venue to purchase more, causing a delay in our guests getting fed. We did not receive an invoice for the tacos until we followed up to determine how it came out almost double the agreed upon cost. We had email/verbal confirmation from Sara that the price would be $3/taco. When I asked her again to confirm she said, “I wouldn’t switch prices on you.” She had no option for vegetarians. When I followed up with Sara for an itemized invoice, she said she would need to look around for one. With the back-and-forth correspondence I explained her total didn’t make sense with the math. She then advised it was $8/taco but was not sure if the quantity was 50 or 100. She then explained she ran out of small tortillas and had to use large ones so some were $4 or $8. We asked guests and no one can remember a change in size of tacos from when the truck first opened to the end of the night. Further, it is not the client’s error if the catering company does not provide enough supplies for the agreed upon size of the food. It seemed like she was trying to cover her tracks and back into a number. While the error in calculation and price is important, it’s the lack of owning up their error that is truly disheartening.
I’m not sure if we were taken advantage of because we live a few hours away or if Sara assumed we would not follow up. In all my calls, email, and attention to detail, the assumption should have been avoided. After her consistent back-and-forth emails , I don't anticipate hearing back from Sara after my asking for a time to talk over the phone.
