We went for a two day trip over winter break and had a great time! I think two days for us with an overnight stay at the hotel was just the right amount of time with our 5 year old to see and do it all. The first day we did both the dairy and p...
ig bus tours and enjoyed all the information. This still gave us time in our day to eat lunch on campus and see most of the museums. I was bit disappointed that the only "fast" lunch options there in the small building were quesadillas or grilled cheese. They were good, but eating those two days in a row lacked the variety I was hoping for. Also, that meant no gluten free options for the fast lunch. There were thankfully many more GF options at the main restaurant for dinner
We then checked in, and went to eat dinner at the farm house. We got to the restaurant at 5:30pm and were told it would be a 1 hour and 15 minute wait, which ended up being 1.5 hours wait in total. I wasn't happy about that, but I guess we should have made a reservation. Who would have thought to make a reservation for 3 on a Monday night?! Well, apparently everyone else had. I highly recommend you make a reservation if you plan to go, especially since there are no other options for food anywhere else in the area. The food was fine.
All in all, it was a great visit and we can't wait to go back in the summer when there are more things open. The facilities were all very clean and well maintained. Every staff member I interacted with was super nice! They also had so many nice amenities for younger kids, like games and toys in the small lunch place, strollers and wagons to borrow on the tours, and even a nursing station for nursing mothers (which we are past, but I thought that was awesome!)
In summary,
Our favorite parts:
*the birthing barn
*the ropes course
*the playground in the dairy barn
My recommendations:
*Make reservations for the dining hall if your child will melt down if over hungry
*two days is great if you want to take your time, but any more than two days is probably redundant

We visited this place around Christmas and had dinner in one of the igloos which was a wonderful experience. Our server, Conner was GREAT! He offered great recommendations and was super helpful.

Disappointed to start however it was pleasant. They are pet friendly. I was unsure about the lack of food until I had a nice conversation with an employee. Apparently they had a fire in Sept. of 2024. So the restaurant is not fully functioni...
ng as before. The ice cream is very good. The atmosphere on the porch area was welcoming. Hummingbirds well feed. The food I had was good just wasn't what I wanted for lunch.

I came here on a whim, just looking for a weekend getaway, but I honestly wasn't expecting much more than a place filled with kids and families. However, it turned out to be a way more interesting experience than I could have possibly imagined....
I was able to actually see everything being done, and I learned a lot about the process of farming cows and about sustainability in agriculture. Plus, surprisingly, the food they served was actually really good! The grounds are clean, staff is friendly, and it’s easy to explore on your own. Bonus: great spot for photography. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a unique, low-key day trip outside the city. Also try the grilled cheese!!
